³² “Thus says the Lord God:

God’s Fury Removed

⁴ You have become guilty by the blood which you have ^(A)shed, and have defiled yourself with the idols which you have made. You have caused your days to draw near, and have come to the end of your years; ^(B)therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a mockery to all countries. ⁵ Those near and those far from you will mock you as ^[a]infamous and full of tumult.

^6 (A)Render to her just as she rendered ^[a]to you, and repay her double according to her works; ^(B)in the cup which she has mixed, ^(C)mix double for her.

¹⁹ Now ^(A)the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And ^(B)great Babylon ^(C)was remembered before God, ^(D)to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.

²² But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink ^(A)the cup that I am about to drink, ^[a]and be baptized with ^(B)the baptism that I am baptized with?”

They said to Him, “We are able.”

²³ So He said to them, ^(C)“You will indeed drink My cup, ^[b]and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”

³ therefore prophesy, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Because they made you desolate and swallowed you up on every side, so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations, ^(A)and you are taken up by the lips of ^(B)talkers and slandered by the people”—
