¹⁷ Then the Babylonians^(A) came to her, to the bed of love, and in their lust they defiled her. After she had been defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust.^(B)

²⁸ “For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to deliver you into the hands^(A) of those you hate, to those you turned away from in disgust.

²² “Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will stir up your lovers^(A) against you, those you turned away from in disgust, and I will bring them against you from every side^(B)—

³⁷ therefore I am going to gather all your lovers, with whom you found pleasure, those you loved as well as those you hated. I will gather them against you from all around and will strip^(A) you in front of them, and they will see you stark naked.^(B)

¹⁵ Then Amnon hated her with intense hatred. In fact, he hated her more than he had loved her. Amnon said to her, “Get up and get out!”

⁹ That is why it was called Babel^[a](A)—because there the Lord confused the language^(B) of the whole world.^(C) From there the Lord scattered^(D) them over the face of the whole earth.
