³ You shall say, Thus says the Lord God: A city that sheds blood in her midst, so that ^(A)her time may come, and that makes idols to defile herself!

^27 (A)Her princes in her midst are like wolves ^(B)tearing the prey, ^(C)shedding blood, destroying lives to get dishonest gain.

³ And ^(A)in their greed they will exploit you ^(B)with false words. ^(C)Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

⁵ But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are ^(A)storing up ^(B)wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.

⁶ “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ^(A)Woe to the bloody city, to ^(B)the pot whose corrosion is in it, and whose corrosion has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, without making any choice.^{[a] 7} For the blood she has shed is in her midst; she put it on ^(C)the bare rock; ^(D)she did not pour it out on the ground to cover it with dust. ⁸ To rouse my wrath, to take vengeance, I have set on the bare rock the blood she has shed, that it may not be covered. ⁹ Therefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city! ^(E)I also will make the pile great.

⁴⁵ But righteous men ^(A)shall pass judgment on them with the sentence of adulteresses, and with the sentence of women who shed blood, because they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands.”

³⁷ For ^(A)they have committed adultery, ^(B)and blood is on their hands. With their idols they have committed adultery, and they have even ^(C)offered up^[a] to them for food the children whom they had borne to me.

⁶ “Behold, ^(A)the princes of Israel in you, every one according to his power, have been bent on shedding blood.
