⁴ Because I will cut off from you both righteous and wicked, therefore my sword shall be drawn from its sheath against all flesh from south to north.

⁴⁷ Say to the forest of the Negeb, Hear the word of the Lord: Thus says the Lord God, Behold, ^(A)I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every ^(B)green tree in you and every ^(C)dry tree. The blazing flame shall not be quenched, and ^(D)all faces from south to north shall be scorched by it.

² “And you, ^(A)O son of man, thus says the Lord God to the land of Israel: ^(B)An end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.^[a]

¹¹ Thus says the Lord God: ^(A)“Clap your hands ^(B)and stamp your foot and say, Alas, because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel, ^(C)for they shall fall by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence. ^12 (D)He who is far off shall die of pestilence, and he who is near shall fall by the sword, and he who is left and is preserved shall die of famine. ^(E)Thus I will spend my fury upon them. ¹³ And you shall know that I am the Lord, ^(F)when their slain lie among their idols around their altars, ^(G)on every high hill, ^(H)on all the mountaintops, ^(I)under every green tree, and under ^(J)every leafy oak, wherever ^(K)they offered pleasing aroma to all their idols. ¹⁴ And ^(L)I will stretch out my hand against them and ^(M)make the land desolate and waste, ^(N)in all their dwelling places, from the wilderness to ^(O)Riblah.^[a] Then ^(P)they will know that I am the Lord.”
