²⁷ “But if you will not heed Me to hallow the Sabbath day, such as not carrying a burden when entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then ^(A)I will kindle a fire in its gates, ^(B)and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be ^(C)quenched.” ’ ”

A Sword Against the Ammonites

²⁸ “And you, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God ^(A)concerning the Ammonites and concerning their reproach,’ and say:

²² In his right hand is the divination for Jerusalem: to set up battering rams, to call for a slaughter, to ^(A)lift the voice with shouting, ^(B)to set battering rams against the gates, to heap up a siege mound, and to build a wall.

⁷ And it shall be when they say to you, ‘Why are you sighing?’ that you shall answer, ‘Because of the news; when it comes, every heart will melt, ^(A)all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it is coming and shall be brought to pass,’ says the Lord God.”

⁴⁷ and say to the forest of the South, ‘Hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, ^(A)I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour ^(B)every green tree and every dry tree in you; the blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces ^(C)from the south to the north shall be scorched by it.

⁷ and ^(A)I will set My face against them. ^(B)They will go out from one fire, but another fire shall devour them. ^(C)Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I set My face against them.

¹⁰ And even he who is valiant, whose heart is like the heart of a lion, will ^(A)melt completely. For all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man, and those who are with him are valiant men.
