“‘Shall we rejoice in the scepter of my royal son? The sword despises every such stick.^(B)

⁷ And when they ask you, ‘Why are you groaning?^(A)’ you shall say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will melt with fear^(B) and every hand go limp;^(C) every spirit will become faint^(D) and every leg will be wet with urine.’^(E) It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

²⁷ But if you do not obey^(A) me to keep the Sabbath^(B) day holy by not carrying any load as you come through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle an unquenchable fire^(C) in the gates of Jerusalem that will consume her fortresses.’”^(D)

²⁸ “And you, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says about the Ammonites^(A) and their insults:

²² Into his right hand will come the lot for Jerusalem, where he is to set up battering rams, to give the command to slaughter, to sound the battle cry,^(A) to set battering rams against the gates, to build a ramp^(B) and to erect siege works.^(C)

⁴⁷ Say to the southern forest:^(A) ‘Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to set fire to you, and it will consume^(B) all your trees, both green and dry. The blazing flame will not be quenched, and every face from south to north^(C) will be scorched by it.^(D)

⁷ I will set my face against^(A) them. Although they have come out of the fire^(B), the fire will yet consume them. And when I set my face against them, you will know that I am the Lord.^(C)
