⁵ and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On the day I chose^(A) Israel, I swore with uplifted hand^(B) to the descendants of Jacob and revealed myself to them in Egypt. With uplifted hand I said to them, “I am the Lord your God.^(C)”

¹⁴ You are to divide it equally among them. Because I swore with uplifted hand to give it to your ancestors, this land will become your inheritance.^(A)

²³ Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would disperse them among the nations and scatter^(A) them through the countries,

¹⁵ Also with uplifted hand I swore^(A) to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them—a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands^(B)—

⁶ For you are a people holy^(A) to the Lord your God.^(B) The Lord your God has chosen^(C) you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.^(D)

⁶ “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.^(A) I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem^(B) you with an outstretched arm^(C) and with mighty acts of judgment.^{(D) 7} I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God.^(E) Then you will know^(F) that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.

³¹ and they believed.^(A) And when they heard that the Lord was concerned^(B) about them and had seen their misery,^(C) they bowed down and worshiped.^(D)

⁸ So I have come down^(A) to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land,^(B) a land flowing with milk and honey^(C)—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites^(D) and Jebusites.^(E)

²² But Abram said to the king of Sodom,^(A) “With raised hand^(B) I have sworn an oath to the Lord, God Most High,^(C) Creator of heaven and earth,^(D)
