¹¹ She had strong branches for scepters of rulers.

And was seen in her height amid the ^[a]dense foliage.

^3 (A)Indeed Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon,
With fine branches that shaded the forest,
And of high stature;
And its top was among the thick boughs.

¹¹ The tree grew and became strong;
Its height reached to the heavens,
And it could be seen to the ends of all the earth.

¹⁵ And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted,
And the branch that You made strong ^(A)for Yourself.

¹⁰ Sharpened to make a dreadful slaughter,
Polished to flash like lightning!
Should we then make mirth?
It despises the scepter of My son,
As it does all wood.

^14 (A)Fire has come out from a rod of her branches
And devoured her fruit,
So that she has no strong branch—a scepter for ruling.’ ”

¹² But she was ^(A)plucked up in fury,
She was cast down to the ground,
And the ^(B)east wind dried her fruit.
Her strong branches were broken and withered;
The fire consumed them.

11 There ^(B)shall come forth a ^[a]Rod from the ^[b]stem of ^(C)Jesse,
And ^(D)a Branch shall ^[c]grow out of his roots.
