⁷ Is it not to share your bread with the hungry
    and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover them
    and not to hide yourself from your own kin?^(A)
8 Then your light shall break forth like the dawn,
    and your healing shall spring up quickly;
your vindicator^[a] shall go before you;
    the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.^(B)
9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
    you shall cry for help, and he will say, “Here I am.”

11 Send out your bread upon the waters,
    for after many days you will get it back.^(A)
2 Divide your means seven ways, or even eight,
    for you do not know what disaster may happen on earth.^(B)

²⁰ She opens her hand to the poor
    and reaches out her hands to the needy.^(A)

²¹ If your enemies are hungry, give them bread to eat,
    and if they are thirsty, give them water to drink,^(A)

⁹ Those who are generous are blessed,
    for they share their bread with the poor.^(A)
