Ezekiel 21:23-27
New International Version
23 It will seem like a false omen to those who have sworn allegiance to him, but he will remind(A) them of their guilt(B) and take them captive.
24 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘Because you people have brought to mind your guilt by your open rebellion, revealing your sins in all that you do—because you have done this, you will be taken captive.
25 “‘You profane and wicked prince of Israel, whose day has come,(C) whose time of punishment has reached its climax,(D) 26 this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Take off the turban, remove the crown.(E) It will not be as it was: The lowly will be exalted and the exalted will be brought low.(F) 27 A ruin! A ruin! I will make it a ruin! The crown will not be restored until he to whom it rightfully belongs shall come;(G) to him I will give it.’(H)
Jeremiah 7:9-15
New International Version
9 “‘Will you steal(A) and murder,(B) commit adultery(C) and perjury,[a](D) burn incense to Baal(E) and follow other gods(F) you have not known, 10 and then come and stand(G) before me in this house,(H) which bears my Name, and say, “We are safe”—safe to do all these detestable things?(I) 11 Has this house,(J) which bears my Name, become a den of robbers(K) to you? But I have been watching!(L) declares the Lord.
12 “‘Go now to the place in Shiloh(M) where I first made a dwelling(N) for my Name,(O) and see what I did(P) to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel. 13 While you were doing all these things, declares the Lord, I spoke(Q) to you again and again,(R) but you did not listen;(S) I called(T) you, but you did not answer.(U) 14 Therefore, what I did to Shiloh(V) I will now do to the house that bears my Name,(W) the temple(X) you trust in, the place I gave to you and your ancestors. 15 I will thrust you from my presence,(Y) just as I did all your fellow Israelites, the people of Ephraim.’(Z)
