⁹ Then I bathed you with water and washed off the blood from you and anointed you with oil.

³ Now wash and anoint yourself, and put on your best clothes and go down to the threshing floor, but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.^(A)

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

To him who loves us and freed^[a] us from our sins by his blood ⁶ and made us a kingdom, priests serving^[b] his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.^(A)

⁸ the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three agree.

²⁷ As for you, the anointing that you received from him abides in you, so you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, abide in him.^[a](A)

²⁰ But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and all of you have knowledge.^[a](A)

¹⁰ but deal only with food and drink and various baptisms, regulations for the body imposed until the time comes to set things right.^(A)

¹¹ But when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have come,^[a] then through the greater and more perfect tent^[b] (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation),^{(B) 12} he entered once for all into the holy place, not with the blood of goats and calves but with his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.^{(C) 13} For if the blood of goats and bulls and the sprinkling of the ashes of a heifer sanctifies those who have been defiled so that their flesh is purified,^{(D) 14} how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit^[c] offered himself without blemish to God, purify our^[d] conscience from dead works to worship the living God!^(E)

²¹ But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us,^(A)

² and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
