⁴⁶ And ^(A)your elder sister is Samaria, who lived with her daughters to the north of you; and ^(B)your younger sister, who lived to the south of you, is Sodom with her daughters.

⁴ Oholah was the name of the elder and Oholibah the name of her sister. ^(A)They became mine, and they ^(B)bore sons and daughters. As for their names, Oholah is ^(C)Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.

^61 (A)Then you will remember your ways ^(B)and be ashamed when you take ^(C)your sisters, both your elder and your younger, and I give them to you ^(D)as daughters, but not on account of^[a] the covenant with you.

^53 (A)“I will restore their fortunes, both the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters, and the fortunes of Samaria and her daughters, and I will restore your own fortunes in their midst, ⁵⁴ that you may bear your disgrace ^(B)and be ashamed of all that you have done, ^(C)becoming a consolation to them. ⁵⁵ As for your sisters, Sodom and her daughters shall return to their former state, ^(D)and Samaria and her daughters shall return ^(E)to their former state, ^(F)and you and your daughters shall return ^(G)to your former state. ⁵⁶ Was not your sister Sodom a byword in your mouth ^(H)in the day of your pride,

^51 (A)Samaria has not committed half your sins. You have committed more abominations than they, and ^(B)have made your sisters appear righteous by all the abominations that you have committed.

^48 (A)As I live, declares the Lord God, your sister ^(B)Sodom and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done. ⁴⁹ Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, ^(C)excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.

⁸ She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, ^(A)I had sent her away with ^(B)a decree of divorce. ^(C)Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went ^(D)and played the whore. ⁹ Because she took her whoredom lightly, she polluted the land, committing adultery with ^(E)stone and tree. ¹⁰ Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me ^(F)with her whole heart, but in pretense, declares the Lord.”

¹¹ And the Lord said to me, ^(G)“Faithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.

¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the ^(A)Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like ^(B)the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of ^(C)Zoar. (This was before the Lord ^(D)destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) ¹¹ So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other. ¹² Abram settled in the land of Canaan, while Lot settled among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom. ¹³ Now the men of Sodom ^(E)were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.

⁸ and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically^[a] is called ^(A)Sodom and ^(B)Egypt, where their Lord was crucified.
