⁴⁵ You are the daughter of your mother, who loathed her husband and her children; and you are the sister of ^(A)your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. ^(B)Your mother was a Hittite and ^(C)your father an Amorite.

The Lord's Comfort for Zion

⁷ You are the Lord, the God ^(A)who chose Abram and brought him out of ^(B)Ur of the Chaldeans ^(C)and gave him the name Abraham.

¹⁷ but ^(A)you shall devote them to complete destruction,^[a] the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, as the Lord your God has commanded,

^44 (A)You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. ^(B)He was a murderer from the beginning, and ^(C)does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. ^(D)When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

⁷ He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, ^(A)“You brood of ^(B)vipers! Who warned you to flee from ^(C)the wrath to come?
