³ “Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put before them ^(A)that which causes them to stumble into iniquity. ^(B)Should I let Myself be inquired of at all by them?

⁷ For anyone of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who separates himself from Me and sets up his idols in his heart and puts before him what causes him to stumble into iniquity, then comes to a prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I the Lord will answer him by Myself.

^16 (A)because they despised My judgments and did not walk in My statutes, but profaned My Sabbaths; for ^(B)their heart went after their idols.

³ “Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Have you come to inquire of Me? As I live,” says the Lord God, ^(A)“I will not be inquired of by you.” ’

⁴ “Therefore speak to them, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Everyone of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, and puts before him what causes him to stumble into iniquity, and then comes to the prophet, I the Lord will answer him who comes, according to the multitude of his idols,

¹² Because they ministered to them before their idols and ^(A)caused^[a] the house of Israel to fall into iniquity, therefore I have ^(B)raised My hand in an oath against them,” says the Lord God, “that they shall bear their iniquity.

³¹ For when you offer ^(A)your gifts and make your sons pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols, even to this day. So shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,” says the Lord God, “I will ^(B)not be inquired of by you.
