⁴ And the Lord said to him, “Pass through the city, through Jerusalem, and ^(A)put a mark on the foreheads of the men who ^(B)sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.”

⁴ They were told ^(A)not to harm ^(B)the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree, but only those people who do not have ^(C)the seal of God on their foreheads.

²² and who has also ^(A)put his seal on us and ^(B)given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.^[a]

The Lamb and the 144,000

14 Then I looked, and behold, on ^(A)Mount Zion ^(B)stood the Lamb, and with him ^(C)144,000 who ^(D)had his name and his Father's name written ^(E)on their foreheads.

² Then I saw another angel ascending ^(A)from the rising of the sun, with ^(B)the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, ³ saying, ^(C)“Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God ^(D)on their foreheads.”
