The east wind has wrecked you

your sailors and your pilots,
your caulkers, your dealers in merchandise,
and all your warriors within you,
with all the company
that is with you,
sink into the heart of the seas
on the day of your ruin.(O)
28 At the sound of the cry of your pilots
the pasturelands shake,(P)
29 and down from their ships
come all who handle the oar.
The sailors and all the pilots of the sea

30 and wail aloud over you
and cry bitterly.
They throw dust on their heads

31 they make themselves bald for you

and they weep over you in bitterness of soul,

25 “‘The ships of Tarshish(AJ) serve
as carriers for your wares.
You are filled with heavy cargo
as you sail the sea.(AK)
26 Your oarsmen take you
out to the high seas.
But the east wind(AL) will break you to pieces
far out at sea.
27 Your wealth,(AM) merchandise and wares,
your mariners, sailors and shipwrights,
your merchants and all your soldiers,
and everyone else on board

on the day of your shipwreck.
28 The shorelands will quake(AO)
when your sailors cry out.
29 All who handle the oars
will abandon their ships;

30 They will raise their voice

34 Now you are shattered by the sea
in the depths of the waters;
your wares and all your company
