Giudizio contro Gog
39 (A)«Tu, *figlio d'uomo, *profetizza contro Gog,
e di': “Cosí parla Dio, il Signore:
Eccomi da te, o Gog,
principe sovrano di Mesec e di Tubal!
2 Io ti porterò via, ti spingerò avanti,
ti farò salire dalle estremità del settentrione
e ti condurrò sui monti d'*Israele;
3 butterò giú l'arco dalla tua mano sinistra
e ti farò cadere le frecce dalla destra.
4 Tu cadrai sui monti d'Israele,
tu con tutte le tue schiere
e con i popoli che saranno con te;
ti darò in pasto agli uccelli rapaci, agli uccelli d'ogni specie,
e alle bestie dei campi.
5 Tu cadrai in mezzo ai campi,
poiché io ho parlato, dice Dio, il Signore.
6 Manderò il fuoco su Magog
e su quelli che abitano sicuri nelle isole;
e conosceranno che io sono il Signore.
7 Farò conoscere il mio nome santo in mezzo al mio popolo Israele,
e non lascerò piú profanare il mio nome santo;
le nazioni conosceranno che io sono il Signore,
il Santo in Israele.
8 Ecco, la cosa sta per avvenire, si effettuerà,
dice il Dio, Signore;
questo è il giorno di cui io ho parlato.
9 Gli abitanti delle città d'Israele usciranno
e faranno dei fuochi, bruciando armi,
scudi grandi e piccoli,
archi, frecce,
picche e lance;
e ne faranno del fuoco per sette anni;
10 non porteranno legna dai campi,
non ne taglieranno nelle foreste;
poiché faranno del fuoco con quelle armi;
spoglieranno quelli che li spogliavano
e deprederanno quelli che li depredavano,
dice Dio, il Signore.
11 In quel giorno,
io darò a Gog un luogo che gli servirà da sepoltura in Israele,
la Valle dei viandanti, a oriente del mare;
quel sepolcro chiuderà la via ai viandanti,
là sarà sepolto Gog con tutta la sua moltitudine;
quel luogo sarà chiamato la Valle di Amon-Gog[a].
12 La casa d'Israele li sotterrerà,
per purificare il paese;
e ciò durerà sette mesi.
13 Tutto il popolo del paese li sotterrerà;
per questo la sua fama crescerà
il giorno in cui mi glorificherò,
dice Dio, il Signore.
14 Metteranno da parte degli uomini i quali percorreranno del continuo il paese
a sotterrare, con l'aiuto dei viandanti,
i cadaveri che saranno rimasti sul suolo del paese,
per purificarlo;
alla fine dei sette mesi faranno questa ricerca.
15 Quando i viandanti passeranno per il paese,
chiunque di loro vedrà delle ossa umane
accumulerà là vicino un mucchio di pietre
finché i seppellitori non le abbiano sotterrate
nella Valle di Amon-Gog.
16 Amona[b] sarà pure il nome di una città.
Cosí purificheranno il paese”.
17 Tu, figlio d'uomo, cosí parla Dio, il Signore:
Di' agli uccelli d'ogni specie
e a tutte le bestie dei campi:
Riunitevi, venite! Raccoglietevi da tutte le parti
attorno al banchetto del sacrificio che sto per immolare per voi,
del gran sacrificio sui monti d'Israele!
Voi mangerete carne e berrete sangue.
18 Mangerete carne di prodi
e berrete sangue di príncipi della terra:
montoni, agnelli, capri,
tori, tutti quanti ingrassati in *Basan.
19 Mangerete grasso a sazietà,
berrete sangue fino a inebriarvi,
al banchetto del sacrificio che io immolerò per voi;
20 alla mia mensa sarete saziati di carne di cavalli e di bestie da tiro,
di prodi e di guerrieri d'ogni razza,
dice Dio, il Signore[c].
21 Io manifesterò la mia gloria fra le nazioni;
tutte le nazioni vedranno il giudizio che io eseguirò
e la mia mano che metterò su di loro.
22 Da quel giorno in poi
la casa d'Israele conoscerà che io sono il Signore, il suo Dio;
23 le nazioni conosceranno che la casa d'Israele è stata deportata
a causa della sua *iniquità,
perché mi era stata infedele;
perciò io ho nascosto a loro la mia faccia
e li ho dati in mano dei loro nemici;
tutti quanti sono caduti di spada.
24 Io li ho trattati secondo la loro impurità e secondo le loro *trasgressioni,
e ho nascosto loro la mia faccia.
Ristabilimento d'Israele
25 (B)Perciò, cosí parla Dio, il Signore:
Ora io farò tornare *Giacobbe dalla deportazione
e avrò pietà di tutta la casa d'Israele,
e sarò geloso del mio santo nome.
26 Essi avranno finito di portare il loro disonore
e la pena di tutte le infedeltà che hanno commesse contro di me,
quando abiteranno al sicuro nel loro paese
e non vi sarà piú nessuno che li spaventi;
27 quando li ricondurrò dai popoli
e li raccoglierò dai paesi dei loro nemici,
e mi santificherò in loro davanti a molte nazioni.
28 Essi conosceranno che io sono il Signore, il loro Dio,
quando, dopo averli fatti deportare fra le nazioni,
li avrò raccolti nel loro paese
e non lascerò là piú nessuno di essi;
29 non nasconderò piú loro la mia faccia,
perché avrò sparso il mio Spirito sulla casa d'Israele,
dice Dio, il Signore».

39 «Tu, figlio d'uomo, profetizza contro Gog e di' Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io sono contro di te principe di Rosh, di Mescek e di Tubal.
2 Ti farò tornare indietro, ti alletterò, ti farò salire dalle estreme parti del nord e ti condurrò sui monti d'Israele.
3 Scuoterò l'arco dalla tua mano sinistra e ti farò cadere le frecce dalla mano destra.
4 Cadrai sui monti d'Israele, tu con tutte le tue schiere e con i popoli che sono con te; ti darò in pasto agli uccelli rapaci, agli uccelli d'ogni specie e alle bestie dei campi.
5 Cadrai in aperta campagna, perché io ho parlato», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.
6 «E manderò fuoco su Magog e su quelli che abitano sicuri nelle isole, e riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno.
7 Cosí farò conoscere il mio santo nome in mezzo al mio popolo d'Israele e non lascerò piú profanare il mio santo nome, e le nazioni riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno, il Santo in Israele.
8 Ecco, la cosa avverrà e si compirà», dice il Signore, l'Eterno; «questo è il giorno di cui ho parlato.
9 Allora gli abitanti delle città d'Israele usciranno, daranno fuoco e bruceranno armi, scudi grandi e piccoli, mazze e lance, e con queste faranno fuoco per sette anni.
10 Non dovranno prendere legna dalla campagna e neppure tagliarne nelle foreste, perché faranno fuoco con quelle armi, cosí spoglieranno quelli che li spogliavano e prederanno quelli che li predavano», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.
11 «In quel giorno avverrà che darò a Gog, là in Israele un luogo per sepoltura, la valle di Abarim, a est del mare; essa ostruirà il passaggio ai viandanti, perché là sarà sepolto Gog con tutta la sua moltitudine; e quel luogo sarà chiamato la Valle di Hammon-Gog.
12 La casa d'Israele, per purificare il paese, impiegherà ben sette mesi a seppellirli.
13 Li seppellirà tutto il popolo del paese, ed essi acquisteranno fama il giorno in cui mi glorificherò», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.
14 «Sceglieranno degli uomini che percorreranno in continuazione il paese per seppellire, con l'aiuto dei viandanti, i corpi di quelli che sono rimasti sulla superficie della terra, per purificarla; alla fine dei sette mesi faranno questa ricerca.
15 Chiunque percorrerà il paese, al vedere un osso d'uomo, vi porrà vicino un segno indicatore, finché i seppellitori non lo seppelliranno nella Valle di Hammon-Gog.
16 Hamonah sarà pure il nome di una città. Cosí purificheranno il paese.
17 Quanto a te, figlio d'uomo», cosi dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Di' agli uccelli d'ogni specie e a tutte le bestie dei campi: Radunatevi e venite. Raccoglietevi da ogni parte al posto del massacro che compirò per voi, un grande massacro sui monti d'Israele, perché mangiate carne e beviate sangue.
18 Mangerete carne di uomini potenti e berrete sangue di principi della terra: come se fossero tutti montoni, agnelli capri e tori ingrassati in Bashan.
19 Mangerete grasso a sazietà e berrete sangue fino all'ebbrezza al pasto del massacro che compirò per voi.
20 Alla mia tavola vi sazierete di cavalli e di cavalieri, di uomini potenti e di guerrieri d'ogni sorta», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.
21 «Manifesterò la mia gloria fra le nazioni e tutte le nazioni vedranno il mio giudizio che ho compiuto e la mia mano che ho posto su di loro.
22 Cosí da quel giorno in poi la casa d'Israele riconoscerà che io sono l'Eterno, il suo DIO;
23 e le nazioni riconosceranno che fu per la sua iniquità che la casa d'Israele andò in cattività, perché mi era stata infedele, perciò ho nascosto loro la mia faccia, li ho dati in mano dei loro nemici e sono caduti tutti di spada.
24 Li ho trattati secondo la loro impurità e secondo le loro trasgressioni e ho nascosto loro la mia faccia».
25 Perciò cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: «Ora farò tornare Giacobbe dalla cattività, avrò compassione di tutta la casa d'Israele e sarò geloso del mio santo nome,
26 dopo che hanno portato il loro vituperio e la pena di tutte le loro infedeltà che avevano commesso contro di me, mentre dimoravano al sicuro nel loro paese e nessuno li spaventava.
27 Quando li ricondurrò dai popoli e li raccoglierò dai paesi dei loro nemici e sarò santificato in loro agli occhi di molte nazioni,
28 essi riconosceranno che io sono l'Eterno, il loro DIO, che li ha fatti andare in cattività fra le nazioni, ma li ha pure radunati assieme nel loro paese, senza lasciarne fuori neppure uno.
29 Non nasconderò piú loro la mia faccia, perché spanderò il mio Spirito sulla casa d'Israele», dice il Signore, l'Eterno.

39 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord God; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:
10 So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord God.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.
13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord God.
14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man's bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord God; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19 And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
20 Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord God.
21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward.
23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.
25 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;
26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.
27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
28 Then shall they know that I am the Lord their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord God.

Gog’s Armies Destroyed
39 “And (A)you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, [a]the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal; 2 and I will (B)turn you around and lead you on, (C)bringing you up from the far north, and bring you against the mountains of Israel. 3 Then I will knock the bow out of your left hand, and cause the arrows to fall out of your right hand. 4 (D)You shall [b]fall upon the mountains of Israel, you and all your troops and the peoples who are with you; (E)I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. 5 You shall [c]fall on [d]the open field; for I have spoken,” says the Lord God. 6 (F)“And I will send fire on Magog and on those who live [e]in security in (G)the coastlands. Then they shall know that I am the Lord. 7 (H)So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not let them (I)profane My holy name anymore. (J)Then the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel. 8 (K)Surely it is coming, and it shall be done,” says the Lord God. “This is the day (L)of which I have spoken.
9 “Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and bucklers, the bows and arrows, the [f]javelins and spears; and they will make fires with them for seven years. 10 They will not take wood from the field nor cut down any from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons; (M)and they will plunder those who plundered them, and pillage those who pillaged them,” says the Lord God.
The Burial of Gog
11 “It will come to pass in that day that I will give Gog a burial place there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea; and it will obstruct travelers, because there they will bury Gog and all his multitude. Therefore they will call it the Valley of [g]Hamon Gog. 12 For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, (N)in order to cleanse the land. 13 Indeed all the people of the land will be burying, and they will gain (O)renown for it on the day that (P)I am glorified,” says the Lord God. 14 “They will set apart men regularly employed, with the help of [h]a search party, to pass through the land and bury those bodies remaining on the ground, in order (Q)to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search. 15 The search party will pass through the land; and when anyone sees a man’s bone, he shall [i]set up a marker by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon Gog. 16 The name of the city will also be [j]Hamonah. Thus they shall (R)cleanse the land.” ’
A Triumphant Festival
17 “And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lord God, (S)‘Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field:
(T)“Assemble yourselves and come;
Gather together from all sides to My (U)sacrificial meal
Which I am sacrificing for you,
A great sacrificial meal (V)on the mountains of Israel,
That you may eat flesh and drink blood.
18 (W)You shall eat the flesh of the mighty,
Drink the blood of the princes of the earth,
Of rams and lambs,
Of goats and bulls,
All of them (X)fatlings of Bashan.
19 You shall eat fat till you are full,
And drink blood till you are drunk,
At My sacrificial meal
Which I am sacrificing for you.
20 (Y)You shall be filled at My table
With horses and riders,
(Z)With mighty men
And with all the men of war,” says the Lord God.
Israel Restored to the Land
21 (AA)“I will set My glory among the nations; all the nations shall see My judgment which I have executed, and (AB)My hand which I have laid on them. 22 (AC)So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day forward. 23 (AD)The Gentiles shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity; because they were unfaithful to Me, therefore (AE)I hid My face from them. I (AF)gave them into the hand of their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. 24 (AG)According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions I have dealt with them, and hidden My face from them.” ’
25 “Therefore thus says the Lord God: (AH)‘Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the (AI)whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name— 26 (AJ)after they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, when they (AK)dwelt safely in their own land and no one made them afraid. 27 (AL)When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and I (AM)am hallowed in them in the sight of many nations, 28 (AN)then they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them [k]captive any longer. 29 (AO)And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have (AP)poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord God.”
