37 (A)La mano del Signore fu sopra di me e il Signore mi trasportò mediante lo Spirito e mi depose in mezzo a una valle piena d'ossa. 2 Mi fece passare presso di esse, tutt'attorno; ecco erano numerosissime sulla superficie della valle, ed erano anche molto secche.
3 Mi disse: «*Figlio d'uomo, queste ossa potrebbero rivivere?» E io risposi: «Signore, Dio, tu lo sai».
4 Egli mi disse: «*Profetizza su queste ossa, e di' loro: “Ossa secche, ascoltate la parola del Signore! 5 Cosí dice Dio, il Signore, a queste ossa: Ecco, io faccio entrare in voi lo spirito e voi rivivrete; 6 metterò su di voi dei muscoli, farò nascere su di voi della carne, vi coprirò di pelle, metterò in voi lo spirito, e rivivrete; e conoscerete che io sono il Signore”». 7 Io profetizzai come mi era stato comandato; e come io profetizzavo, si fece un rumore; ed ecco un movimento: le ossa si accostarono le une alle altre. 8 Io guardai, ed ecco venire su di esse dei muscoli, crescervi la carne, e la pelle ricoprirle; ma non c'era in esse nessuno spirito.
9 Allora egli mi disse: «Profetizza allo Spirito, profetizza figlio d'uomo, e di' allo Spirito: “Cosí parla Dio, il Signore: Vieni dai quattro venti, o Spirito, soffia su questi uccisi, e fa' che rivivano!”» 10 Io profetizzai, come egli mi aveva comandato, e lo Spirito entrò in essi: tornarono alla vita e si alzarono in piedi; erano un esercito grande, grandissimo.
11 Egli mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, queste ossa sono tutta la casa d'*Israele. Ecco, essi dicono: “Le nostre ossa sono secche, la nostra speranza è svanita, noi siamo perduti!” 12 Perciò, profetizza e di' loro: “Cosí parla Dio, il Signore: Ecco, io aprirò le vostre tombe, vi tirerò fuori dalle vostre tombe, o popolo mio, e vi ricondurrò nel paese d'Israele. 13 Voi conoscerete che io sono il Signore, quando aprirò le vostre tombe e vi tirerò fuori dalle vostre tombe, o popolo mio! 14 E metterò in voi il mio Spirito, e voi tornerete in vita; vi porrò sul vostro suolo, e conoscerete che io, il Signore, ho parlato e ho messo la cosa in atto, dice il Signore”».
15 (B)La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
16 «Tu, figlio d'uomo, prenditi un pezzo di legno e scrivici sopra: “Per *Giuda e per i figli d'Israele che gli sono associati”. Poi prenditi un altro pezzo di legno e scrivici sopra: “Per *Giuseppe, bastone di *Efraim e di tutta la casa d'Israele che gli è associata”. 17 Poi accostali l'uno all'altro per farne un solo pezzo di legno, in modo che siano uniti nella tua mano. 18 Quando i figli del tuo popolo ti parleranno e ti diranno: “Non ci spiegherai forse che cosa vuoi dire con queste cose?” 19 tu risponderai loro: Cosí parla Dio, il Signore: “Ecco, io prenderò il pezzo di legno di Giuseppe, che è in mano di Efraim, e le tribú d'Israele, che sono a lui associate, e li unirò a questo, che è il pezzo di legno di Giuda, e ne farò un solo legno, in modo che saranno una sola cosa nella mia mano”. 20 I legni sui quali tu avrai scritto, li terrai in mano tua, sotto i loro occhi.
21 E di' loro: “Cosí parla Dio, il Signore: Ecco, io prenderò i figli d'Israele dalle nazioni dove sono andati, li radunerò da tutte le parti, e li ricondurrò nel loro paese; 22 farò di loro una stessa nazione, nel paese, sui monti d'Israele; un solo re sarà re di tutti loro; non saranno piú due nazioni, e non saranno piú divisi in due regni. 23 Non si contamineranno piú con i loro idoli, con le loro abominazioni né con le loro numerose *trasgressioni; io li tirerò fuori da tutti i luoghi dove hanno abitato e dove hanno peccato, li purificherò; essi saranno mio popolo e io sarò loro Dio. 24 Il mio servo *Davide sarà re sopra di loro ed essi avranno tutti un medesimo pastore; cammineranno secondo le mie prescrizioni, osserveranno le mie leggi, le metteranno in pratica; 25 abiteranno nel paese che io diedi al mio servo *Giacobbe, dove abitarono i vostri padri; vi abiteranno essi, i loro figli e i figli dei loro figli per sempre; e il mio servo Davide sarà loro principe per sempre. 26 Io farò con loro un patto di pace: sarà un patto perenne con loro; li stabilirò fermamente, li moltiplicherò, e metterò il mio *santuario in mezzo a loro per sempre; 27 la mia dimora sarà presso di loro; io sarò loro Dio ed essi saranno mio popolo[a]. 28 Le nazioni conosceranno che io sono il Signore che santifico Israele, quando il mio santuario sarà per sempre in mezzo a loro”».

37 La mano dell'Eterno fu sopra me, mi portò fuori nello Spirito dell'Eterno e mi depose in mezzo a una valle che era piena di ossa.
2 Quindi mi fece passare vicino ad esse, tutt'intorno; ed ecco, erano in grandissima quantità sulla superficie della valle; ed ecco, erano molto secche.
3 Mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, possono queste ossa rivivere?». Io risposi: «O Signore, o Eterno, tu lo sai».
4 Mi disse ancora: «Profetizza a queste ossa e di' loro: Ossa secche, ascoltate la parola dell'Eterno.
5 Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno, a queste ossa: Ecco, io faccio entrare in voi lo spirito e voi rivivrete.
6 Metterò su di voi la carne, vi coprirò di pelle e metterò in voi lo spirito, e vivrete; allora riconoscerete che io sono l'Eterno».
7 Cosí profetizzai come mi era stato comandato; mentre profetizzavo, ci fu un rumore; ed ecco uno scuotimento; quindi le ossa si accostarono l'una all'altra.
8 Mentre guardavo, ecco crescere su di esse i tendini e la carne, che la pelle ricoprí; ma non c'era in loro lo spirito.
9 Allora egli mi disse: «Profetizza allo spirito, profetizza figlio d'uomo e di' allo spirito: Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Spirito, vieni dai quattro venti e soffia su questi uccisi, perché vivano»,
10 Così profetizzai come mi aveva comandato e lo spirito entrò in essi, e ritornarono in vita e si alzarono in piedi: erano un esercito grande, grandissimo.
11 Poi mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, queste ossa sono tutta la casa d'Israele. Ecco essi dicono: le nostre ossa sono secche, la nostra speranza è svanita e noi siamo perduti
12 Perciò profetizza e di' loro: Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io aprirò i vostri sepolcri, vi farò uscire dalle vostre tombe, o popolo mio, e vi ricondurrò nel paese d'Israele.
13 Riconoscerete che io sono l'Eterno, quando aprirò i vostri sepolcri e vi farò uscire dalle vostre tombe, o popolo mio.
14 Metterò in voi il mio Spirito e voi vivrete, e vi porrò sulla vostra terra; allora riconoscerete che io, l'Eterno, ho parlato e ho portato a compimento la cosa», dice l'Eterno.
15 La parola dell'Eterno mi fu nuovamente rivolta, dicendo:
16 «Tu, figlio d'uomo, prenditi un pezzo di legno e su di esso scrivi: "Per Giuda e per i figli d'Israele, suoi compagni". Poi prenditi un altro pezzo di legno e su di esso scrivi: "Per Giuseppe bastone di Efraim e di tutta la casa d'Israele, suoi compagni".
17 Avvicinali quindi l'uno all'altro in un solo legno, affinché diventino una sola cosa nella tua mano.
18 Quando i figli del tuo popolo ti parleranno, dicendo: "Ci vuoi spiegare che cosa significano queste cose per te?"
19 tu dirai loro: Così dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io prenderò il legno di Giuseppe, che è in mano di Efraim, e le tribú d'Israele che sono suoi compagni, e li unirò a questo, cioè al legno di Giuda, per farne un solo legno; essi diventeranno cosi una sola cosa nella mia mano.
20 Tieni nella tua mano sotto i loro occhi i legni sui quali hai scritto
21 e di' loro: Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno: Ecco, io prenderò i figli d'Israele dalle nazioni fra le quali sono andati, li radunerò da ogni parte e li ricondurrò nel loro paese,
22 e farò di loro una sola nazione nel paese, sui monti d'Israele, un solo re regnerà su tutti loro; non saranno piú due nazioni né saranno piú divisi in due regni.
23 Non si contamineranno piú con i loro idoli, con le loro abominazioni e con tutte le loro trasgressioni; li libererò da tutti i luoghi dove hanno abitato dove hanno peccato, e li purificherò; cosí saranno il mio popolo e io sarò il loro DIO.
24 Il mio servo Davide sarà re su di loro e ci sarà un unico pastore per tutti; essi cammineranno nei miei decreti, osserveranno i miei statuti e li metteranno in pratica.
25 E abiteranno nel paese che io diedi al mio servo Giacobbe, dove abitarono i vostri padri. Vi abiteranno essi, i loro figli e i figli dei loro figli per sempre, e il mio servo Davide sarà loro principe per sempre.
26 Stabilirò con loro un patto di pace: sarà un patto eterno con loro, li renderò stabili, li moltiplicherò e metterò il mio santuario in mezzo a loro per sempre.
27 La mia dimora sarà presso di loro; sí, io sarò il loro DIO ed essi saranno il mio popolo.
28 Anche le nazioni riconosceranno che io, l'Eterno, santifico Israele, quando il mio santuario sarà in mezzo a loro per sempre».

The Valley of Dry Bones
37 The hand of the Lord was on me,(A) and he brought me out by the Spirit(B) of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley;(C) it was full of bones.(D) 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.(E)”
4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!(F) 5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath[a] enter you, and you will come to life.(G) 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.(H)’”
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath;(I) prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds(J) and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded(K) me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.(L)
11 Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’(M) 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.(N) 13 Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord,(O) when I open your graves and bring you up from them.(P) 14 I will put my Spirit(Q) in you and you will live, and I will settle(R) you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.(S)’”
One Nation Under One King
15 The word of the Lord came to me: 16 “Son of man, take a stick of wood and write on it, ‘Belonging to Judah and the Israelites(T) associated with him.(U)’ Then take another stick of wood, and write on it, ‘Belonging to Joseph (that is, to Ephraim) and all the Israelites associated with him.’ 17 Join them together into one stick so that they will become one in your hand.(V)
18 “When your people ask you, ‘Won’t you tell us what you mean by this?’(W) 19 say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am going to take the stick of Joseph—which is in Ephraim’s hand—and of the Israelite tribes associated with him, and join it to Judah’s stick. I will make them into a single stick of wood, and they will become one in my hand.’(X) 20 Hold before their eyes the sticks you have written on 21 and say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land.(Y) 22 I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel.(Z) There will be one king over all of them and they will never again be two nations or be divided into two kingdoms.(AA) 23 They will no longer defile(AB) themselves with their idols and vile images or with any of their offenses, for I will save them from all their sinful backsliding,[b](AC) and I will cleanse them. They will be my people, and I will be their God.(AD)
24 “‘My servant David(AE) will be king(AF) over them, and they will all have one shepherd.(AG) They will follow my laws and be careful to keep my decrees.(AH) 25 They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where your ancestors lived.(AI) They and their children and their children’s children will live there forever,(AJ) and David my servant will be their prince forever.(AK) 26 I will make a covenant of peace(AL) with them; it will be an everlasting covenant.(AM) I will establish them and increase their numbers,(AN) and I will put my sanctuary among them(AO) forever.(AP) 27 My dwelling place(AQ) will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people.(AR) 28 Then the nations will know that I the Lord make Israel holy,(AS) when my sanctuary is among them forever.(AT)’”

37 Die Hand des Herrn kam über mich und führte mich im Geiste des Herrn hinaus und ließ mich nieder mitten auf der Ebene, und diese war voller Totengebeine. 2 Er führte mich an denselben vorüber ringsherum; und siehe, der Gebeine waren sehr viele auf der Ebene; und siehe, sie waren sehr dürr.
3 Da sprach er zu mir: Menschensohn, können diese Gebeine wieder lebendig werden?
Ich antwortete: O Herr, Herr, du weißt es!
4 Da sprach er zu mir: Weissage über diese Gebeine und sprich zu ihnen: Ihr verdorrten Gebeine, hört das Wort des Herrn! 5 So spricht Gott, der Herr, zu diesen Gebeinen: Seht, ich will einen Geist[a] in euch kommen lassen, daß ihr lebendig werdet! 6 Ich will euch Sehnen geben und Fleisch über euch wachsen lassen und euch mit Haut überziehen und einen Geist in euch geben, daß ihr lebendig werden und erfahren sollt, daß ich der Herr bin!
7 Da weissagte ich, wie mir befohlen war, und indem ich weissagte, entstand ein Geräusch, und siehe, eine Bewegung, und die Gebeine rückten zusammen, ein Glied zum andern! 8 Und ich schaute, und siehe, sie bekamen Sehnen, und es wuchs Fleisch an ihnen; und es zog sich Haut darüber; aber es war noch kein Geist in ihnen.
9 Da sprach er zu mir: Richte eine Weissagung an den Geist, weissage, Menschensohn, und sprich zum Geist: So spricht Gott, der Herr: O Geist, komm von den vier Winden und hauche diese Getöteten an, daß sie lebendig werden! 10 So weissagte ich, wie er mir befohlen hatte. Da kam der Geist in sie, und sie wurden lebendig und stellten sich auf ihre Füße, ein sehr, sehr großes Heer.
11 Und er sprach zu mir: Menschensohn, diese Gebeine sind das ganze Haus Israel. Siehe, sie sprechen: „Unsere Gebeine sind verdorrt, und unsere Hoffnung ist verloren; es ist aus mit uns!“ 12 Darum weissage und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Siehe, ich will eure Gräber auftun und euch, mein Volk, aus euren Gräbern führen und euch wieder in das Land Israel bringen; 13 und ihr sollt erfahren, daß ich der Herr bin, wenn ich eure Gräber auftue und euch, mein Volk, aus euren Gräbern führen werde. 14 Ich will auch meinen Geist in euch legen, und ihr sollt leben; und ich will euch wieder in euer Land bringen, daß ihr erfahren sollt, daß ich der Herr bin. Ich habe es gesagt und werde es auch tun, spricht der Herr.
Ein Volk und ein König
15 Und das Wort des Herrn kam zu mir also:
16 Du, Menschensohn, nimm dir einen Holzstab und schreibe darauf: „Für Juda und die Kinder Israel, seine Mitverbundenen.“ Alsdann nimm einen andern Holzstab und schreibe darauf: „Für Joseph, den Stab Ephraims, und das ganze Haus Israel, seine Mitverbundenen.“ 17 Darnach füge beide [Stäbe] zusammen, einen zum andern, damit ein Holzstab daraus werde, ja, zu einem einzigen sollen sie werden in deiner Hand.
18 Wenn dann die Kinder deines Volkes zu dir sagen: „Willst du uns nicht erklären, was das bedeutet?“ 19 so gib ihnen zur Antwort: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Seht, ich will den Holzstab Josephs nehmen, welcher in der Hand Ephraims und der Stämme Israels, seiner Mitverbundenen, ist, und will ihn zu dem Holzstab Judas tun und sie zu einem einzigen Holzstab machen, und sie sollen ein [Ganzes] in meiner Hand werden! 20 Also sollst du die Holzstäbe, auf welche du geschrieben hast, vor ihren Augen in deiner Hand halten.
21 Und sage zu ihnen: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Seht, ich will die Kinder Israel aus den Nationen, unter welche sie gekommen sind, zurückholen und sie von überallher sammeln und sie in ihr Land führen 22 und sie im Lande auf den Bergen Israels zu einem einzigen Volke machen; sie sollen alle nur einen einzigen König haben, sie sollen auch hinfort nicht mehr zwei Völker bilden, noch in zwei Reiche zerteilt werden. 23 Und sie sollen sich auch hinfort nicht mehr mit ihren Götzen und mit ihren Greueln und durch allerlei Übertretungen verunreinigen. Und ich will ihnen aus allen ihren Wohnorten[b], in welchen sie gesündigt haben, heraushelfen und will sie reinigen; sie sollen mein Volk sein, und ich will ihr Gott sein.
24 Und mein Knecht David soll ihr König sein, und sie sollen alle einen einzigen Hirten haben. Und sie werden in meinen Rechten wandeln und meine Satzungen beobachten und dieselben tun. 25 Sie werden wieder in dem Lande wohnen, welches ich meinem Knechte Jakob gegeben habe, darin auch ihre Väter gewohnt haben. Ja, darin sollen sie, ihre Kinder und Kindeskinder, allezeit wohnen; und mein Knecht David soll ihr Fürst sein ewiglich. 26 Ich will auch einen Bund des Friedens mit ihnen schließen, ein ewiger Bund soll mit ihnen bestehen, und ich will sie seßhaft machen und mehren; ich will mein Heiligtum auf ewig in ihre Mitte stellen. 27 Meine Wohnung wird bei ihnen sein, und ich will ihr Gott sein, und sie sollen mein Volk sein. 28 Und die Heiden werden erfahren, daß ich der Herr bin, welcher Israel heiligt, wenn mein Heiligtum in Ewigkeit unter ihnen sein wird.

2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest.
4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.
5 Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
13 And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the Lord have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord.
15 The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,
16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions:
17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.
23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
24 And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.
26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
28 And the heathen shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
