3 Quindi mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, mangia ciò che tu trovi; mangia questo rotolo, poi va' e parla alla casa d'Israele».
2 Cosí io apersi la bocca ed egli mi fece mangiare quel rotolo.
3 Poi mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, ciba il tuo ventre e riempi le tue viscere con questo rotolo che ti do». Cosí io lo mangiai e fu nella mia bocca dolce come il miele.
4 Mi disse ancora: «Figlio d'uomo, va
5 perché non sei mandato a un popolo dal linguaggio oscuro e dalla lingua difficile, ma alla casa d'Israele,
6 non a molti popoli dal linguaggio oscuro e dalla lingua difficile, dei quali non comprendi le parole. Certamente se ti avessi mandato da loro, ti avrebbero ascoltato.
7 Ma la casa d'Israele non vorrà ascoltarti, perché non vogliono ascoltare me. Infatti tutta la casa d'Israele ha la fronte dura e il cuore ostinato.
8 Ecco, io ho reso la tua faccia dura contro la loro faccia e ho reso la tua fronte dura contro la loro fronte.
9 Io ho reso la tua fronte come un diamante, piú dura della selce; non temerli, non aver paura di fronte a loro, perché sono una casa ribelle».
10 Poi mi disse: «Figlio d'uomo, ricevi nel tuo cuore tutte le parole che ti dirò e ascoltale con le tue orecchie.
11 E va
12 Quindi lo Spirito mi sollevò e udii dietro a me il suono di un grande fragore che diceva: «Benedetta sia la gloria dell'Eterno dalla sua dimora!».
13 Udii pure il rumore delle ali degli esseri viventi che battevano l'una contro l'altra, il rumore delle ruote accanto ad esse, e il suono di un grande fragore.
14 Cosí lo Spirito mi sollevò e mi portò via, e io andai pieno di amarezza nello sdegno del mio spirito; ma la mano dell'Eterno era forte su di me.
15 Giunsi quindi da quelli che erano in cattività a Tel-abib presso il fiume Kebara e mi fermai dove essi dimoravano e vi rimasi sette giorni in mezzo a loro, stordito.
16 Alla fine dei sette giorni avvenne che la parola dell'Eterno mi fu rivolta, dicendo:
17 «Figlio d'uomo, io t'ho stabilito come sentinella per la casa d'Israele quando udrai una parola dalla mia bocca, li avvertirai da parte mia.
18 Se io dico all'empio: "Certamente morirai" e tu non l'avverti e non parli per avvertire l'empio di abbandonare la sua via malvagia perché salvi la sua vita, quell'empio morirà nella sua iniquità, ma del suo sangue domanderò conto a te.
19 Ma se tu avverti l'empio, ed egli non si ritrae dalla sua empietà e dalla sua via malvagia, egli morirà nella sua iniquità, ma tu avrai salvato la tua anima.
20 Se poi un giusto si ritrae dalla sua giustizia e commette iniquità, io gli metterò davanti un ostacolo ed egli morirà; poiché tu non l'hai avvertito egli morirà nel suo peccato, e le cose giuste da lui fatte non saranno piú ricordate, ma del suo sangue domanderò conto alla tua mano.
21 Se però tu avverti il giusto perché non pecchi e non pecca, egli certamente vivrà perché è stato avvertito, e tu avrai salvato la tua anima».
22 Là fu quindi su di me la mano dell'Eterno e mi disse: «Alzati, esci nella pianura e là io ti parlerò».
23 Cosí mi alzai e uscii nella pianura, ed ecco là stava la gloria dell'Eterno, come la gloria che avevo visto presso il fiume Kebar, e caddi sulla mia faccia.
24 Ma lo Spirito entrò in me, mi fece alzare in piedi e mi parlò e mi disse: «Va' chiuditi in casa tua.
25 Ed ecco, figlio d'uomo, a te metteranno addosso delle corde, con esse ti legheranno e cosí non potrai uscire in mezzo a loro.
26 Io farò aderire la tua lingua al palato e resterai muto, cosí non sarai piú per loro uno che li rimprovera, perché sono una casa ribelle,
27 Ma quando ti parlerò, ti aprirò la bocca e tu dirai loro: "Cosí dice il Signore, l'Eterno" Chi vuole ascoltare ascolti, e chi rifiuta di ascoltare rifiuti pure, perché sono una casa ribelle».

3 Mi disse: «Figlio dell'uomo, mangia ciò che hai davanti, mangia questo rotolo, poi và e parla alla casa d'Israele». 2 Io aprii la bocca ed egli mi fece mangiare quel rotolo, 3 dicendomi: «Figlio dell'uomo, nutrisci il ventre e riempi le viscere con questo rotolo che ti porgo». Io lo mangiai e fu per la mia bocca dolce come il miele. 4 Poi egli mi disse: «Figlio dell'uomo, và, recati dagli Israeliti e riferisci loro le mie parole, 5 poiché io non ti mando a un popolo dal linguaggio astruso e di lingua barbara, ma agli Israeliti: 6 non a grandi popoli dal linguaggio astruso e di lingua barbara, dei quali tu non comprendi le parole: se a loro ti avessi inviato, ti avrebbero ascoltato; 7 ma gli Israeliti non vogliono ascoltar te, perché non vogliono ascoltar me: tutti gli Israeliti sono di dura cervice e di cuore ostinato. 8 Ecco io ti do una faccia tosta quanto la loro e una fronte dura quanto la loro fronte. 9 Come diamante, più dura della selce ho reso la tua fronte. Non li temere, non impaurirti davanti a loro; sono una genìa di ribelli».
10 Mi disse ancora: «Figlio dell'uomo, tutte le parole che ti dico accoglile nel cuore e ascoltale con gli orecchi: 11 poi và, recati dai deportati, dai figli del tuo popolo, e parla loro. Dirai: Così dice il Signore, ascoltino o non ascoltino».
12 Allora uno spirito mi sollevò e dietro a me udii un grande fragore: «Benedetta la gloria del Signore dal luogo della sua dimora!». 13 Era il rumore delle ali degli esseri viventi che le battevano l'una contro l'altra e contemporaneamente il rumore delle ruote e il rumore di un grande frastuono. 14 Uno spirito dunque mi sollevò e mi portò via; io ritornai triste e con l'animo eccitato, mentre la mano del Signore pesava su di me. 15 Giunsi dai deportati di Tel-Avìv, che abitano lungo il canale Chebàr, dove hanno preso dimora, e rimasi in mezzo a loro sette giorni come stordito.
Il profeta come sentinella
16 Al termine di questi sette giorni mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore: «Figlio dell'uomo, ti ho posto per sentinella alla casa d'Israele. 17 Quando sentirai dalla mia bocca una parola, tu dovrai avvertirli da parte mia. 18 Se io dico al malvagio: Tu morirai! e tu non lo avverti e non parli perché il malvagio desista dalla sua condotta perversa e viva, egli, il malvagio, morirà per la sua iniquità, ma della sua morte io domanderò conto a te. 19 Ma se tu ammonisci il malvagio ed egli non si allontana dalla sua malvagità e dalla sua perversa condotta, egli morirà per il suo peccato, ma tu ti sarai salvato.
20 Così, se il giusto si allontana dalla sua giustizia e commette l'iniquità, io porrò un ostacolo davanti a lui ed egli morirà; poiché tu non l'avrai avvertito, morirà per il suo peccato e le opere giuste da lui compiute non saranno più ricordate; ma della morte di lui domanderò conto a te. 21 Se tu invece avrai avvertito il giusto di non peccare ed egli non peccherà, egli vivrà, perché è stato avvertito e tu ti sarai salvato».

22 Anche là venne sopra di me la mano del Signore ed egli mi disse: «Alzati e và nella valle; là ti voglio parlare». 23 Mi alzai e andai nella valle; ed ecco la gloria del Signore era là, simile alla gloria che avevo vista sul canale Chebàr, e caddi con la faccia a terra. 24 Allora uno spirito entrò in me e mi fece alzare in piedi ed egli mi disse: «Và e rinchiuditi in casa. 25 Ed ecco, figlio dell'uomo, ti saranno messe addosso delle funi, sarai legato e non potrai più uscire in mezzo a loro. 26 Ti farò aderire la lingua al palato e resterai muto; così non sarai più per loro uno che li rimprovera, perché sono una genìa di ribelli. 27 Ma quando poi ti parlerò, ti aprirò la bocca e tu riferirai loro: Dice il Signore Dio: chi vuole ascoltare ascolti e chi non vuole non ascolti; perché sono una genìa di ribelli».

3 Он сказал мне:
– Смертный, съешь же то, что перед тобой, съешь этот свиток, а потом ступай и говори с народом Исраила.
2 Я открыл рот, и Он дал мне съесть свиток.
3 Он сказал мне:
– Смертный, съешь свиток, который Я даю тебе, и наполни им своё чрево.
Я съел его, и у меня во рту он был сладким, как мёд.
4 Он сказал мне:
– Смертный, ступай теперь к исраильтянам и говори им Мои слова. 5 Ты отправляешься не к народу с невнятной речью и непонятным языком, а к народу Исраила, 6 не к многочисленным народам с их невнятной речью и непонятным языком, чьи слова для тебя темны. Если бы Я послал тебя к ним, они бы, конечно, тебя послушали. 7 Но исраильтяне не хотят слушать тебя, потому что они не хотят слушать Меня, ведь весь народ Исраила упрям и непокорен. 8 Но Я сделаю тебя таким же неподатливым и твердолобым, как они сами. 9 Я сделаю твой лоб подобным самому твёрдому камню, твёрже кремня. Не бойся, не страшись их, хотя они и мятежный народ.
10 Он сказал мне:
– Смертный, слушай внимательно и запомни все слова, что Я тебе говорю. 11 Ступай теперь к пленным землякам и поговори с ними. Говори им: «Так говорит Владыка Вечный», независимо от того, станут они слушать, или откажутся.
12 После этого Дух поднял меня, и я услышал позади себя оглушительный, грохочущий голос: «Благословенна слава Вечного в этом месте». 13 И был шум от крыльев живых существ, касавшихся друг друга, и стук от колёс возле них, похожий на оглушительный грохот. 14 Дух поднял меня и унёс прочь. Я шёл огорчённый, и дух мой негодовал, но рука Вечного крепко лежала на мне. 15 Я пришёл к пленникам, которые жили в Тель-Авиве[a] у реки Кевара, потрясённый, остановился у них и оставался там семь дней.
Предостережение Исраила
16 По истечении семи дней ко мне было слово Вечного:
17 – Смертный, Я сделал тебя стражем для народа Исраила. Слушай же слово, которое Я говорю, и предостереги его от Моего имени. 18 Если Я скажу нечестивому: «Ты непременно умрёшь», а ты не станешь его предостерегать и отговаривать от злого пути, чтобы спасти его жизнь, то нечестивый умрёт за свой грех[b], а Я спрошу с тебя за его кровь. 19 Но если ты будешь предостерегать нечестивого, а он не оставит ни своего нечестия, ни своего злого пути, то он умрёт за свой грех, а ты спасёшь свою жизнь. 20 И если праведник отвернётся от праведности и совершит зло, Я положу перед ним преткновение, и он умрёт. Так как ты не предостерегал его, он умрёт за свой грех. Добрые дела, которые он совершил, не вспомнятся, и Я спрошу с тебя за его кровь. 21 Но если ты будешь предостерегать праведника, чтобы он не грешил, и праведник не будет грешить, то он, несомненно, будет жить, потому что внял предостережениям, а ты спасёшь свою жизнь.
22 Там рука Вечного была на мне, и Он сказал мне:
– Встань и выйди на равнину; там Я буду говорить с тобой.
23 Я встал и вышел на равнину. Слава Вечного стояла там, подобная славе, которую я видел у реки Кевара, и я пал лицом на землю. 24 Дух вошёл в меня и поднял на ноги.
Он заговорил со мной и сказал:
– Ступай, запрись у себя дома. 25 Что до тебя, смертный, то тебя свяжут верёвками; тебя так скрутят, что ты не сможешь выходить к народу. 26 Я сделаю так, что твой язык прилипнет к нёбу, ты будешь молчать и не сможешь обличать их, хотя они и мятежный народ. 27 Но когда Я буду говорить тебе, Я буду открывать тебе рот, и ты будешь говорить им: «Так говорит Владыка Вечный». Кто станет слушать, пусть слушает, а кто откажется, пусть отказывается; ведь это мятежный народ.

3 And he said to me, “Son of man, eat what is before you, eat this scroll; then go and speak to the people of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat.
3 Then he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate(A) it, and it tasted as sweet as honey(B) in my mouth.
4 He then said to me: “Son of man, go now to the people of Israel and speak my words to them.(C) 5 You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and strange language,(D) but to the people of Israel— 6 not to many peoples of obscure speech and strange language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you.(E) 7 But the people of Israel are not willing to listen(F) to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for all the Israelites are hardened and obstinate.(G) 8 But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are.(H) 9 I will make your forehead(I) like the hardest stone, harder than flint.(J) Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.(K)”
10 And he said to me, “Son of man, listen carefully and take to heart(L) all the words I speak to you. 11 Go(M) now to your people in exile and speak to them. Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says,’(N) whether they listen or fail to listen.(O)”
12 Then the Spirit lifted me up,(P) and I heard behind me a loud rumbling sound as the glory of the Lord rose from the place where it was standing.[a] 13 It was the sound of the wings of the living creatures(Q) brushing against each other and the sound of the wheels beside them, a loud rumbling sound.(R) 14 The Spirit(S) then lifted me up(T) and took me away, and I went in bitterness and in the anger of my spirit, with the strong hand of the Lord(U) on me. 15 I came to the exiles who lived at Tel Aviv near the Kebar River.(V) And there, where they were living, I sat among them for seven days(W)—deeply distressed.
Ezekiel’s Task as Watchman
16 At the end of seven days the word of the Lord came to me:(X) 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman(Y) for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.(Z) 18 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,(AA)’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for[b] their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.(AB) 19 But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn(AC) from their wickedness(AD) or from their evil ways, they will die(AE) for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.(AF)
20 “Again, when a righteous person turns(AG) from their righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block(AH) before them, they will die. Since you did not warn them, they will die for their sin. The righteous things that person did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.(AI) 21 But if you do warn the righteous person not to sin and they do not sin, they will surely live because they took warning, and you will have saved yourself.(AJ)”
22 The hand of the Lord(AK) was on me there, and he said to me, “Get up and go(AL) out to the plain,(AM) and there I will speak to you.” 23 So I got up and went out to the plain. And the glory of the Lord was standing there, like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River,(AN) and I fell facedown.(AO)
24 Then the Spirit came into me and raised me(AP) to my feet. He spoke to me and said: “Go, shut yourself inside your house.(AQ) 25 And you, son of man, they will tie with ropes; you will be bound so that you cannot go out among the people.(AR) 26 I will make your tongue stick to the roof(AS) of your mouth so that you will be silent and unable to rebuke them, for they are a rebellious people.(AT) 27 But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth and you shall say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says.’(AU) Whoever will listen let them listen, and whoever will refuse let them refuse; for they are a rebellious people.(AV)
