Contro il re di Tiro
28 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore: 2 «Figlio dell'uomo, parla al principe di Tiro: Dice il Signore Dio:
Poiché il tuo cuore si è insuperbito e hai detto:
Io sono un dio,
siedo su un seggio divino in mezzo ai mari,
mentre tu sei un uomo e non un dio,
hai uguagliato la tua mente a quella di Dio,
3 ecco, tu sei più saggio di Daniele,
nessun segreto ti è nascosto.
4 Con la tua saggezza e il tuo accorgimento
hai creato la tua potenza
e ammassato oro e argento nei tuoi scrigni;
5 con la tua grande accortezza e i tuoi traffici
hai accresciuto le tue ricchezze
e per le tue ricchezze si è inorgoglito il tuo cuore.
6 Perciò così dice il Signore Dio:
Poiché hai uguagliato la tua mente a quella di Dio,
7 ecco, io manderò contro di te
i più feroci popoli stranieri;
snuderanno le spade contro la tua bella saggezza,
profaneranno il tuo splendore.
8 Ti precipiteranno nella fossa e morirai
della morte degli uccisi in mezzo ai mari.
9 Ripeterai ancora: «Io sono un dio»,
di fronte ai tuo uccisori?
Ma sei un uomo e non un dio
in balìa di chi ti uccide.
10 Della morte dei non circoncisi morirai
per mano di stranieri, perché io l'ho detto».
Oracolo del Signore Dio.
La caduta del re di Tiro
11 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore: 12 «Figlio dell'uomo, intona un lamento sul principe di Tiro e digli: Così dice il Signore Dio:
Tu eri un modello di perfezione,
pieno di sapienza,
perfetto in bellezza;
13 in Eden, giardino di Dio,
tu eri coperto d'ogni pietra preziosa:
rubini, topazi, diamanti, crisòliti, ònici
e diaspri, zaffìri, carbonchi e smeraldi;
e d'oro era il lavoro dei tuoi castoni e delle tue
legature,
preparato nel giorno in cui fosti creato.
14 Eri come un cherubino ad ali spiegate a difesa;
io ti posi sul monte santo di Dio
e camminavi in mezzo a pietre di fuoco.
15 Perfetto tu eri nella tua condotta,
da quando sei stato creato,
finché fu trovata in te l'iniquità.
16 Crescendo i tuoi commerci
ti sei riempito di violenza e di peccati;
io ti ho scacciato dal monte di Dio
e ti ho fatto perire, cherubino protettore,
in mezzo alle pietre di fuoco.
17 Il tuo cuore si era inorgoglito per la tua bellezza,
la tua saggezza si era corrotta
a causa del tuo splendore:
ti ho gettato a terra
e ti ho posto davanti ai re che ti vedano.
18 Con la gravità dei tuoi delitti,
con la disonestà del tuo commercio
hai profanato i tuoi santuari;
perciò in mezzo a te ho fatto sprigionare un fuoco
per divorarti.
Ti ho ridotto in cenere sulla terra
sotto gli occhi di quanti ti guardano.
19 Quanti fra i popoli ti hanno conosciuto
sono rimasti attoniti per te,
sei divenuto oggetto di terrore, finito per sempre».
Contro Sidone
20 Mi fu rivolta questa parola del Signore: 21 «Figlio dell'uomo, volgiti verso Sidòne e profetizza contro di essa: 22 Annunziale: Dice il Signore Dio:
Eccomi contro di te, Sidòne,
e mostrerò la mia gloria in mezzo a te.
Si saprà che io sono il Signore
quando farò giustizia di te
e manifesterò la mia santità.
23 Manderò contro di essa la peste
e il sangue scorrerà per le sue vie:
cadranno in essa i trafitti di spada
e questa da ogni parte graverà;
e sapranno che io sono il Signore.
Israele liberato dalle nazioni
24 Non ci sarà più per gli Israeliti un aculeo pungente, una spina dolorosa tra tutti i suoi vicini che la disprezzano: sapranno che io sono il Signore».
25 Così dice il Signore Dio; «Quando avrò radunato gli Israeliti di mezzo ai popoli fra i quali sono dispersi, io manifesterò in essi la mia santità davanti alle genti: abiteranno il paese che diedi al mio servo Giacobbe, 26 vi abiteranno tranquilli, costruiranno case e pianteranno vigne; vi abiteranno tranquilli, quando avrò eseguito i miei giudizi su tutti coloro che intorno li disprezzano: e sapranno che io sono il Signore loro Dio».

Profezia contro il re di Tiro
28 (A)La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
2 «*Figlio d'uomo, di' al principe di *Tiro:
“Cosí parla Dio, il Signore:
Il tuo cuore si è insuperbito, e tu dici:
«Io sono un dio!
Io sto seduto su un trono di Dio nel cuore dei mari!»
mentre sei un uomo e non un dio
e hai scambiato il tuo cuore per quello di Dio.
3 Ecco, tu sei piú saggio di *Daniele,
nessun mistero è oscuro per te;
4 con la tua saggezza e con la tua intelligenza
ti sei procurato ricchezze,
hai ammassato oro e argento
nei tuoi tesori;
5 con la tua gran saggezza e con il tuo commercio
hai accresciuto le tue ricchezze,
e a motivo delle tue ricchezze il tuo cuore si è insuperbito.
6 Perciò cosí parla Dio, il Signore:
Poiché tu hai scambiato il tuo cuore per quello di Dio,
7 ecco, io faccio venire contro di te degli stranieri,
i piú violenti fra le nazioni;
essi sguaineranno le loro spade contro lo splendore della tua saggezza
e contamineranno la tua bellezza;
8 ti getteranno nella fossa
e tu morirai della morte di quelli che sono trafitti
nel cuore dei mari.
9 Continuerai forse a dire: «Io sono un dio»,
in presenza di colui che ti ucciderà?
Sarai un uomo e non Dio
nelle mani di chi ti trafiggerà!
10 Tu morirai della morte degli *incirconcisi,
per mano di stranieri;
poiché io ho parlato,
dice Dio, il Signore”».
11 (B)La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
12 «Figlio d'uomo,
pronunzia un lamento sul re di Tiro
e digli: “Cosí parla Dio, il Signore:
Tu mettevi il sigillo alla perfezione,
eri pieno di saggezza, di una bellezza perfetta;
13 eri in *Eden, il giardino di Dio;
eri coperto di ogni tipo di pietre preziose:
rubini, topazi, diamanti,
crisoliti, onici, diaspri,
zaffiri, carbonchi, smeraldi, oro;
tamburi e flauti, erano al tuo servizio,
preparati il giorno che fosti creato.
14 Eri un *cherubino dalle ali distese, un protettore.
Ti avevo stabilito, tu stavi sul monte santo di Dio,
camminavi in mezzo a pietre di
fuoco.
15 Tu fosti perfetto nelle tue vie
dal giorno che fosti creato,
finché non si trovò in te la perversità.
16 Per l'abbondanza del tuo commercio,
tutto in te si è riempito di violenza, e tu hai peccato;
perciò io ti caccio via, come un profano, dal monte di Dio
e ti farò sparire, o cherubino protettore,
di mezzo alle pietre di fuoco.
17 Il tuo cuore si è insuperbito per la tua bellezza;
tu hai corrotto la tua saggezza a causa del tuo splendore;
io ti getto a terra,
ti do in spettacolo ai re.
18 Con la moltitudine delle tue *iniquità,
con la disonestà del tuo commercio
tu hai profanato i tuoi *santuari;
perciò io faccio uscire in mezzo a te un fuoco che ti divori
e ti riduco in cenere sulla terra,
in presenza di tutti quelli che ti guardano.
19 Tutti quelli che ti conoscevano fra i popoli
restano stupefatti al vederti;
tu sei diventato oggetto di terrore e non esisterai mai piú”».
La rovina di Sidone
20 (C)La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
21 «Figlio d'uomo, volgi la faccia verso *Sidone,
*profetizza contro di lei
22 e di': “Cosí parla Dio, il Signore:
Eccomi contro di te, o Sidone!
Io mi glorificherò in mezzo a te
e si conoscerà che io sono il Signore,
quando avrò eseguito i miei giudizi contro di lei,
e mi sarò santificato in lei.
23 Io manderò contro di lei la peste
e ci sarà sangue nelle sue strade;
in mezzo a essa cadranno gli uccisi dalla spada
che piomberà su di lei da tutte le parti;
e si conoscerà che io sono il Signore.
24 Non ci sarà piú per la casa d'*Israele
né spina che punge, né rovo che lacera
fra tutti i suoi vicini che la disprezzano;
e si conoscerà che io sono Dio, il Signore.
25 Cosí parla Dio, il Signore: Quando avrò raccolto la casa d'Israele in mezzo ai popoli fra i quali essa è dispersa, io mi santificherò in loro davanti alle nazioni, ed essi abiteranno il loro paese, che io ho dato al mio servo *Giacobbe; 26 vi abiteranno al sicuro; costruiranno case e pianteranno vigne; abiteranno al sicuro, quando io avrò eseguito i miei giudizi su tutti quelli che li circondano e li disprezzano; e conosceranno che io sono il Signore, il loro Dio”».

A Prophecy Against the King of Tyre
28 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man(A), say to the ruler of Tyre, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“‘In the pride of your heart
you say, “I am a god;
I sit on the throne(B) of a god
in the heart of the seas.”(C)
But you are a mere mortal and not a god,
though you think you are as wise as a god.(D)
3 Are you wiser than Daniel[a]?(E)
Is no secret hidden from you?
4 By your wisdom and understanding
you have gained wealth for yourself
and amassed gold and silver
in your treasuries.(F)
5 By your great skill in trading(G)
you have increased your wealth,(H)
and because of your wealth
your heart has grown proud.(I)
6 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“‘Because you think you are wise,
as wise as a god,
7 I am going to bring foreigners against you,
the most ruthless of nations;(J)
they will draw their swords against your beauty and wisdom(K)
and pierce your shining splendor.(L)
8 They will bring you down to the pit,(M)
and you will die a violent death(N)
in the heart of the seas.(O)
9 Will you then say, “I am a god,”
in the presence of those who kill you?
You will be but a mortal, not a god,(P)
in the hands of those who slay you.(Q)
10 You will die the death of the uncircumcised(R)
at the hands of foreigners.
I have spoken, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”
11 The word of the Lord came to me: 12 “Son of man, take up a lament(S) concerning the king of Tyre and say to him: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“‘You were the seal of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.(T)
13 You were in Eden,(U)
the garden of God;(V)
every precious stone(W) adorned you:
carnelian, chrysolite and emerald,
topaz, onyx and jasper,
lapis lazuli, turquoise(X) and beryl.[b]
Your settings and mountings[c] were made of gold;
on the day you were created they were prepared.(Y)
14 You were anointed(Z) as a guardian cherub,(AA)
for so I ordained you.
You were on the holy mount of God;
you walked among the fiery stones.
15 You were blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness was found in you.
16 Through your widespread trade
you were filled with violence,(AB)
and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
and I expelled you, guardian cherub,(AC)
from among the fiery stones.
17 Your heart became proud(AD)
on account of your beauty,
and you corrupted your wisdom
because of your splendor.
So I threw you to the earth;
I made a spectacle of you before kings.(AE)
18 By your many sins and dishonest trade
you have desecrated your sanctuaries.
So I made a fire(AF) come out from you,
and it consumed you,
and I reduced you to ashes(AG) on the ground
in the sight of all who were watching.(AH)
19 All the nations who knew you
are appalled(AI) at you;
you have come to a horrible end
and will be no more.(AJ)’”
A Prophecy Against Sidon
20 The word of the Lord came to me: 21 “Son of man, set your face against(AK) Sidon;(AL) prophesy against her 22 and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“‘I am against you, Sidon,
and among you I will display my glory.(AM)
You will know that I am the Lord,
when I inflict punishment(AN) on you
and within you am proved to be holy.(AO)
23 I will send a plague upon you
and make blood flow in your streets.
The slain will fall within you,
with the sword against you on every side.
Then you will know that I am the Lord.(AP)
24 “‘No longer will the people of Israel have malicious neighbors who are painful briers and sharp thorns.(AQ) Then they will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.
25 “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When I gather(AR) the people of Israel from the nations where they have been scattered,(AS) I will be proved holy(AT) through them in the sight of the nations. Then they will live in their own land, which I gave to my servant Jacob.(AU) 26 They will live there in safety(AV) and will build houses and plant(AW) vineyards; they will live in safety when I inflict punishment(AX) on all their neighbors who maligned them. Then they will know that I am the Lord their God.(AY)’”

2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
3 Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:
4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:
5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:
6 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;
7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.
8 They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.
9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.
11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.
20 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
21 Son of man, set thy face against Zidon, and prophesy against it,
22 And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.
23 For I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
24 And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord God.
25 Thus saith the Lord God; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.
26 And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the Lord their God.
