Lamentazione sulla rovina di Tiro
27 (A)La parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
2 «Tu, *figlio d'uomo,
pronunzia una lamentazione su *Tiro
3 e di' a Tiro che sta agli approdi del mare,
che porta le mercanzie dei popoli a molte isole:
Cosí parla Dio, il Signore:
“O Tiro, tu dici: «Io sono di una perfetta bellezza».
4 Il tuo dominio è nel cuore dei mari;
i tuoi costruttori ti hanno fatto di una bellezza perfetta;
5 hanno costruito di cipresso di Senir tutte le tue pareti;
hanno preso cedri del Libano per fare l'alberatura delle tue navi;
6 hanno fatto i tuoi remi di querce di *Basan;
hanno fatto i ponti del tuo naviglio d'avorio incastonato in larice,
portato dalle isole di Chittim.
7 Il lino fino d'Egitto, lavorato a ricami,
è servito per le tue vele e per le tue bandiere;
la porpora e lo scarlatto delle isole d'Elisa
formano i tuoi padiglioni.
8 Gli abitanti di *Sidone e di Arvad sono i tuoi rematori;
i tuoi esperti, o Tiro, sono in mezzo a te; sono essi i tuoi piloti.
9 Tu hai in mezzo a te gli *anziani di Ghebel e i suoi esperti
a riparare le tue falle;
in te sono tutte le navi del mare con i loro marinai,
per far lo scambio delle tue mercanzie.
10 Persiani, Lidi, Libi servono nel tuo esercito;
sono uomini di guerra
che sospendono in mezzo a te lo scudo e l'elmo;
sono il tuo splendore.
11 I figli di Arvad e il tuo esercito difendono tutto intorno le tue mura;
uomini prodi stanno nelle tue torri;
essi sospendono i loro scudi tutto intorno alle tue mura;
essi rendono perfetta la tua bellezza.
12 Tarsis commercia con te,
a causa di tutte le ricchezze che possiedi in abbondanza;
fornisce i tuoi mercanti
d'argento, di ferro, di stagno e di piombo.
13 Iavan, Tubal e Mesec commerciano anch'essi con te;
danno schiavi e utensili di rame
in cambio delle tue mercanzie.
14 Quelli della casa di Togarma
pagano le tue mercanzie con cavalli da tiro, con cavalli da corsa e con muli.
15 I figli di Dedan commerciano con te;
il commercio di molte isole passa per le tue mani;
ti pagano con denti d'avorio e con ebano.
16 La *Siria commercia con te,
per la moltitudine dei tuoi prodotti;
paga i tuoi prodotti
con carbonchi, porpora, stoffe ricamate,
bisso, corallo, rubini.
17 *Giuda e il paese d'*Israele anch'essi commerciano con te,
ti danno in cambio
grano di Minnit,
pasticcerie, miele, olio e balsamo.
18 *Damasco commercia con te,
scambiando i tuoi numerosi prodotti
con abbondanza di ogni specie di beni,
con vino di Chelbon e con lana candida.
19 Vedan e Iavan di Uzzal
riforniscono i tuoi mercati:
ferro lavorato, cassia, canna aromatica,
sono fra i prodotti di scambio.
20 Dedan commercia con te
in coperte da cavalcatura.
21 L'Arabia e tutti i príncipi di Chedar fanno commercio con te,
trafficando con te agnelli, montoni, capri.
22 I mercanti di Seba e di Raama anch'essi commerciano con te;
provvedono i tuoi mercati
di tutti i migliori aromi,
di ogni tipo di pietre preziose e d'oro.
23 Aran, Canné e Eden,
i mercanti di Seba, d'Assiria, di Chilmad,
commerciano con te;
24 trafficano con te oggetti di lusso,
mantelli di porpora, ricami,
casse di stoffe preziose
legate con corde e fatte di cedro.
25 Le navi di Tarsis sono la tua flotta per il tuo commercio.
Cosí ti sei riempita, ti sei grandemente arricchita
nel cuore dei mari.
26 (B)I tuoi rematori ti hanno portata nelle grandi acque;
il vento d'oriente s'infrange nel cuore dei mari.
27 Le tue ricchezze, i tuoi mercati, la tua mercanzia,
i tuoi marinai, i tuoi piloti,
i tuoi riparatori,
i tuoi negozianti,
tutta la tua gente di guerra che è in te
e tutta la moltitudine che è in mezzo a te
cadranno nel cuore dei mari,
il giorno della tua rovina.
28 Alle grida dei tuoi piloti,
le spiagge tremeranno;
29 tutti quelli che maneggiano il remo,
i marinai e tutti i piloti del mare scenderanno dalle loro navi
e si terranno sulla terra ferma.
30 Faranno sentire la loro voce su
di te;
grideranno amaramente,
si getteranno la polvere sul capo,
si rotoleranno nella cenere.
31 A causa di te si raderanno il capo,
si vestiranno di sacchi;
per te piangeranno con amarezza d'animo,
con cordoglio amaro;
32 nella loro angoscia pronunzieranno su di te un lamento,
si lamenteranno cosí riguardo a te:
«Chi fu mai come Tiro,
come questa città, ora distrutta in mezzo al mare?»
33 Quando i tuoi prodotti uscivano dai mari,
tu saziavi molti popoli;
con l'abbondanza delle ricchezze e del tuo traffico,
arricchivi i re della terra.
34 Quando sei stata infranta dai mari,
nelle profondità delle acque,
la tua mercanzia e tutta la moltitudine
che era in mezzo a te sono cadute.
35 Tutti gli abitanti delle isole sono sbigottiti a causa di te;
i loro re sono presi da spavento,
il loro aspetto è sconvolto.
36 I mercanti in mezzo ai popoli fischiano su di te;
sei diventato uno spavento e non esisterai mai piú!”»

27 Entonces vino a mí la palabra del Señor: 2 «Tú, hijo de hombre, eleva una elegía por Tiro(A); 3 y dile a Tiro, que está asentada en las entradas del mar, negociante de los pueblos de muchas costas(B): “Así dice el Señor Dios(C):
‘Tiro, tú has dicho: “Soy de perfecta hermosura”.
4 -’En el corazón de los mares están tus fronteras;
Tus edificadores perfeccionaron tu hermosura.
5 -’De los cipreses de Senir te han hecho todas tus tablas;
Del Líbano(D) han tomado un cedro para hacerte un mástil.
6 -’De encinas de Basán(E) han hecho tus remos;
Tu cubierta de boj de las costas de Chipre(F) la han incrustado con marfil.
7 -’De lino fino bordado de Egipto era tu vela
Para que te sirviera de distintivo[a];
De azul y púrpura(G) de las costas de Elisa(H) era tu pabellón.
8 -’Los habitantes de Sidón y de Arvad eran tus remeros(I);
Tus sabios, Tiro, estaban a bordo[b]; eran tus pilotos(J).
9 -’Los ancianos de Gebal y sus mejores obreros estaban contigo
Reparando tus junturas(K);
Todas las naves del mar y sus marineros estaban contigo
Para negociar con tus productos.
10 ’Los persas, los de Lud y los de Fut eran tus hombres de guerra en tu ejército. Colgaban en ti el escudo y el casco(L), manifestaban tu esplendor. 11 Los hijos de Arvad, con tu ejército, estaban en tus murallas todo alrededor, y los gamadeos estaban en tus torres. Colgaban sus escudos en tus murallas todo alrededor; ellos perfeccionaban tu hermosura.
12 ’Tarsis era tu cliente por la abundancia de toda riqueza; con plata, hierro, estaño y plomo pagaban tus mercancías. 13 Javán, Tubal y Mesec(M) comerciaban contigo(N); con hombres(O) y con utensilios de bronce pagaban tus productos. 14 Los de Bet Togarmá(P) daban caballos y corceles de guerra y mulos por tus mercancías. 15 Los hijos de Dedán comerciaban contigo(Q). Muchas costas eran clientes tuyas; colmillos de marfil(R) y madera de ébano te traían como pago. 16 Aram era tu cliente por la abundancia de tus productos(S); pagaban tus mercancías con turquesas(T), púrpura, bordados, lino fino(U), corales y rubíes.
17 ’Judá y la tierra de Israel comerciaban contigo; con trigo de Minit(V), tortas, miel, aceite y bálsamo pagaban tus productos. 18 Damasco era tu cliente por la abundancia de tus productos(W), por la abundancia de toda riqueza, por el vino de Helbón y la lana blanca. 19 Vedán y Javán pagaban tus mercancías desde Uzal; hierro forjado, casia y caña dulce estaban entre tus productos. 20 Dedán(X) comerciaba contigo en mantas para cabalgaduras.
21 ’Arabia(Y) y todos los príncipes de Cedar eran clientes tuyos: comerciaban en corderos, carneros(Z) y machos cabríos; en estas cosas eran tus clientes. 22 Los comerciantes de Sabá y de Raama comerciaban contigo; con lo mejor de todas las especias(AA), y con toda clase de piedras preciosas y oro pagaban tus mercancías(AB). 23 Harán, Cane, Edén, los comerciantes de Sabá, de Asiria(AC) y de Quilmad comerciaban contigo. 24 Ellos comerciaban contigo en lujosos vestidos, en mantos de azul y bordados, en tapices multicolores, en cordones firmemente trenzados, que había entre tus mercancías. 25 Las naves de Tarsis(AD) eran las portadoras de tus productos.
Fuiste repleta y muy gloriosa
En el corazón de los mares.
26 ¶’A muchas aguas(AE) te condujeron
Tus remeros;
El viento del este te destrozó
En el corazón de los mares(AF).
27 -’Tus riquezas, tus mercancías, tu comercio,
Tus marineros y tus pilotos,
Tus calafateadores, tus agentes comerciales,
Y todos los hombres de guerra que hay en ti,
Con toda tu tripulación que en medio de ti está,
Caerán en el corazón de los mares
El día de tu derrota.
28 -’A la voz del grito de tus pilotos
Se estremecerán las praderas(AG).
29 -’Y descenderán de sus naves
Todos los que empuñan el remo;
Los marineros y todos los pilotos del mar
Se quedarán en tierra(AH).
30 -’Harán oír su voz por ti
Y gritarán amargamente(AI).
Echarán polvo sobre sus cabezas(AJ),
Se revolcarán en ceniza(AK).
31 -’Se raparán la cabeza(AL) por tu causa
Y se ceñirán de cilicio;
Llorarán por ti(AM), en la amargura de su alma,
Con amargo duelo(AN).
32 -’En su llanto elevarán por ti una elegía
Y se lamentarán por ti:
“¿Quién como Tiro,
Como la silenciosa en medio del mar(AO)?
33 -”Cuando tus mercancías salían por los mares
Saciabas a muchos pueblos.
Con la abundancia de tus riquezas y de tus productos(AP)
Enriquecías a los reyes de la tierra.
34 -”Ahora que estás destrozada por los mares
En las profundidades de las aguas,
Tu carga y toda tu tripulación
Se han hundido contigo(AQ).
35 -”Todos los habitantes de las costas

A Funeral Song about Tyre
27 The Lord spoke his word to me. He said, 2 “Son of man, sing a funeral song about Tyre. 3 Tyre is the city at the entrance to the sea. It is the merchant to the nations. Say to Tyre, ‘This is what the Almighty Lord says:
Tyre, you used to brag about your perfect beauty.
4 Your home is the sea.
“ ‘Your builders made your beauty perfect.
5 Your builders made all your boards from pine trees on Mount Hermon.
They took cedar trees from Lebanon to make a mast for you.
6 They made your oars from oaks in Bashan.
They made your deck from pine trees on the shores of Cyprus.
It had ivory set in it.
7 Your sails were made out of fine embroidered linen from Egypt.
They were like your flags.
Your awnings were violet and purple.
They came from the coasts of Elishah.
8 People from Sidon and Arvad used to row you.
Your own skilled people were your sailors.
9 Master shipbuilders from Gebal went inside you to caulk your seams.
All the ships on the sea and their sailors
docked alongside you to trade with you.
10 People from Persia, Lud, and Put were soldiers in your army.
They hung their shields and helmets inside you.
Their victories made you look good.
11 “ ‘People from Arvad and Helech [a] were guards all around your walls. People from Gammad guarded your towers. They hung their shields all around your walls, making your beauty perfect.
12 “ ‘People from Tarshish traded with you because you were so very rich. They exchanged silver, iron, tin, and lead for your merchandise. 13 People from Greece, Tubal, and Meshech traded with you. They exchanged slaves and bronze items for your goods. 14 People from Beth Togarmah exchanged horses, war horses, and mules for your merchandise. 15 People from Dedan traded goods with you. You traded with many people on the coasts, and they brought you ivory and ebony as payment.
16 “ ‘People from Syria traded with you because you had so many products. They exchanged emeralds, purple cloth, richly woven cloth, linen, coral, and rubies for your merchandise. 17 Judah and Israel traded with you. They exchanged wheat from Minnith, baked goods, honey, olive oil, and balsam for your goods. 18 People from Damascus traded with you because you had so many products. They exchanged wine from Helbon and wool from Sahar.
19 “ ‘Danites and Greeks from Uzal traded for your merchandise. They exchanged wrought iron, cassia, and sugar cane for your goods. 20 Dedan traded saddle blankets with you. 21 Arabia and all the officials of Kedar traded with you. They traded lambs, rams, and male goats. 22 The merchants from Sheba and Raamah traded with you. They traded the finest spices, precious stones, and gold for your merchandise. 23 Haran, Canneh, Eden, the merchants from Sheba, Assyria, and Kilmad traded with you. 24 In your marketplace they traded for beautiful clothes, purple robes, embroidered cloth, and many multicolored rugs with woven and twisted cords.
25 “ ‘Ships from Tarshish carried your goods.
You were like a ship filled with heavy cargo in the sea.
26 Your rowers took you out to the high seas,
and an east wind wrecked you in the sea.
27 Your wealth, your merchandise, and the goods you sell,
your mariners and your sailors,
your caulkers and your merchants,
your soldiers and everyone else on board
sank into the sea when your ship was wrecked.
28 “ ‘When your sailors cried out, people on the shore trembled.
29 All the rowers, the sailors,
and all the mariners came down from their ships
and stood on the shore.
30 They cried loudly and bitterly over you.
They put dust on their heads and covered themselves with ashes.
31 They shaved their heads because of you and put on sackcloth.
They cried over you with bitterness and with bitter mourning.
32 They sang a funeral song for you with loud crying:
“Who is like Tyre, the city destroyed in the sea?”
33 Your merchandise was sent overseas.
You filled many people with your great wealth and your goods.
You made the kings of the earth rich.
34 Now you are wrecked in the sea, at the bottom of the sea.
Your goods and your whole crew sank with you.
35 All those who live on the coasts are horrified because of you.
Their kings are terribly afraid.
Their faces show their fear.
36 The merchants among the nations laugh at you.
You have come to a terrible end,
and you will never exist again.’ ”

A Lament Over Tyre
27 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, take up a lament(A) concerning Tyre. 3 Say to Tyre,(B) situated at the gateway to the sea,(C) merchant of peoples on many coasts, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“‘You say, Tyre,
“I am perfect in beauty.(D)”
4 Your domain was on the high seas;
your builders brought your beauty to perfection.(E)
5 They made all your timbers
of juniper from Senir[a];(F)
they took a cedar from Lebanon(G)
to make a mast for you.
6 Of oaks(H) from Bashan
they made your oars;
of cypress wood[b] from the coasts of Cyprus(I)
they made your deck, adorned with ivory.
7 Fine embroidered linen(J) from Egypt was your sail
and served as your banner;
your awnings were of blue and purple(K)
from the coasts of Elishah.(L)
8 Men of Sidon and Arvad(M) were your oarsmen;
your skilled men, Tyre, were aboard as your sailors.(N)
9 Veteran craftsmen of Byblos(O) were on board
as shipwrights to caulk your seams.
All the ships of the sea(P) and their sailors
came alongside to trade for your wares.
10 “‘Men of Persia,(Q) Lydia(R) and Put(S)
served as soldiers in your army.
They hung their shields(T) and helmets on your walls,
bringing you splendor.
11 Men of Arvad and Helek
guarded your walls on every side;
men of Gammad
were in your towers.
They hung their shields around your walls;
they brought your beauty to perfection.(U)
12 “‘Tarshish(V) did business with you because of your great wealth of goods;(W) they exchanged silver, iron, tin and lead for your merchandise.
13 “‘Greece,(X) Tubal and Meshek(Y) did business with you; they traded human beings(Z) and articles of bronze for your wares.
14 “‘Men of Beth Togarmah(AA) exchanged chariot horses, cavalry horses and mules for your merchandise.
15 “‘The men of Rhodes[c](AB) traded with you, and many coastlands(AC) were your customers; they paid you with ivory(AD) tusks and ebony.
16 “‘Aram[d](AE) did business with you because of your many products; they exchanged turquoise,(AF) purple fabric, embroidered work, fine linen,(AG) coral(AH) and rubies for your merchandise.
17 “‘Judah and Israel traded with you; they exchanged wheat(AI) from Minnith(AJ) and confections,[e] honey, olive oil and balm(AK) for your wares.(AL)
18 “‘Damascus(AM) did business with you because of your many products and great wealth of goods.(AN) They offered wine from Helbon, wool from Zahar 19 and casks of wine from Izal(AO) in exchange for your wares: wrought iron, cassia(AP) and calamus.
20 “‘Dedan(AQ) traded in saddle blankets with you.
21 “‘Arabia(AR) and all the princes of Kedar(AS) were your customers; they did business with you in lambs, rams and goats.
22 “‘The merchants of Sheba(AT) and Raamah traded with you; for your merchandise they exchanged the finest of all kinds of spices(AU) and precious stones, and gold.(AV)
23 “‘Harran,(AW) Kanneh and Eden(AX) and merchants of Sheba, Ashur(AY) and Kilmad traded with you. 24 In your marketplace they traded with you beautiful garments, blue fabric, embroidered work and multicolored rugs with cords twisted and tightly knotted.
25 “‘The ships of Tarshish(AZ) serve
as carriers for your wares.
You are filled with heavy cargo
as you sail the sea.(BA)
26 Your oarsmen take you
out to the high seas.
But the east wind(BB) will break you to pieces
far out at sea.
27 Your wealth,(BC) merchandise and wares,
your mariners, sailors and shipwrights,
your merchants and all your soldiers,
and everyone else on board
will sink into the heart of the sea(BD)
on the day of your shipwreck.
28 The shorelands will quake(BE)
when your sailors cry out.
29 All who handle the oars
will abandon their ships;
the mariners and all the sailors
will stand on the shore.
30 They will raise their voice
and cry bitterly over you;
they will sprinkle dust(BF) on their heads
and roll(BG) in ashes.(BH)
31 They will shave their heads(BI) because of you
and will put on sackcloth.
They will weep(BJ) over you with anguish of soul
and with bitter mourning.(BK)
32 As they wail and mourn over you,
they will take up a lament(BL) concerning you:
“Who was ever silenced like Tyre,
surrounded by the sea?(BM)”
33 When your merchandise went out on the seas,(BN)
you satisfied many nations;
with your great wealth(BO) and your wares
you enriched the kings of the earth.
34 Now you are shattered by the sea
in the depths of the waters;
your wares and all your company
have gone down with you.(BP)
35 All who live in the coastlands(BQ)
are appalled(BR) at you;
their kings shudder with horror
and their faces are distorted with fear.(BS)
36 The merchants among the nations scoff at you;(BT)
you have come to a horrible end
and will be no more.(BU)’”
