A quinta praga: a peste
9 O SENHOR disse a Moisés:
—Vá dizer ao faraó que eu, o SENHOR, o Deus dos hebreus, digo isto: “Deixe sair o meu povo para que me adore! 2 Se não deixar que eles saiam, se continuar prendendo-os, 3 então eu, o SENHOR, castigarei com uma peste terrível todo o seu gado: os cavalos, os jumentos, os camelos, os bois e as ovelhas. 4 Mas farei distinção entre os animais dos israelitas e os animais dos egípcios, e nenhum dos animais dos israelitas morrerá. 5 Eu, o SENHOR, marquei um dia: isto irá acontecer amanhã, em todo o país”.
6 No dia seguinte, o SENHOR fez como tinha dito. Todo o gado dos egípcios morreu, mas não morreu nenhum animal dos israelitas. 7 O faraó mandou ver o que tinha acontecido e viu que nenhum dos animais dos israelitas tinha morrido. Mesmo assim, ele endureceu o seu coração e não deixou sair os israelitas.
A sexta praga: as feridas terríveis
8 O SENHOR disse a Moisés e a Aarão:
—Tirem um punhado de cinza de um forno. E você, Moisés, atire a cinza para o ar, na presença do faraó. 9 A cinza se transformará em pó e se espalhará por todo o Egito. Quando o pó tocar numa pessoa ou num animal, causará feridas terríveis na pele.
10 Assim, Moisés e Aarão foram buscar um punhado de cinza do forno e apresentaram-se diante do faraó. E Moisés atirou a cinza para o ar e as pessoas e os animais ficaram cobertas de feridas. 11 Até mesmo os magos ficaram cobertos de feridas e não puderam se apresentar diante de Moisés. Todos os egípcios estavam cobertos de feridas. 12 Mas o SENHOR fez com que o coração do faraó endurecesse e ele recusou o que eles tinham lhe pedido, tal como o SENHOR tinha dito a Moisés.
A sétima praga: o granizo
13 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés:
—Amanhã cedo, apresente-se diante do faraó e diga a ele que eu, o SENHOR, o Deus dos hebreus, digo isto: “Deixe sair o meu povo para que me adore! 14 Porque, desta vez, vou soltar todas as minhas pragas contra você, contra os seus ministros e contra o seu povo. Então você saberá que não há ninguém como eu em toda a terra. 15 Eu já poderia ter usado o meu poder e enviado uma praga contra você e o seu povo que o faria desaparecer da terra. 16 Mas deixei você viver para lhe mostrar o meu poder e para que o meu nome seja conhecido em todo o mundo. 17 Mas você ainda está contra o meu povo e não o deixa partir! 18 Por isso, amanhã, por esta hora, vou fazer chover granizo como nunca choveu em toda a história do Egito. 19 Portanto, mande recolher num lugar seguro os seus animais e tudo o que tenham no campo. Todo ser humano e todo animal que não estiver num lugar seguro, morrerá quando o granizo cair sobre eles”.
20 Os ministros do faraó que respeitavam a palavra do SENHOR se apressaram e recolheram os seus servos e o seu gado num lugar seguro. 21 Mas aqueles que não se importavam com a palavra do SENHOR, deixaram os seus servos e os seus animais no campo.
22 Então o SENHOR disse a Moisés:
—Estenda a sua mão para o céu, para que chova granizo sobre todo o Egito. Sobre as pessoas, os animais e as plantas do campo em todo o Egito.
23 Moisés estendeu a sua vara para o céu e o SENHOR fez cair trovões, raios e granizo sobre toda a terra do Egito. 24 O granizo e os raios caíam sem parar. Nunca, em toda a história do Egito, tinha caído granizo de forma tão violenta. 25 O granizo caiu sobre todo o Egito. E tudo o que estava nos campos foi destruído: pessoas, animais, plantas e árvores. 26 O único lugar onde não caiu granizo foi na terra de Gósen, onde vivia o povo de Israel.
27 Então o faraó mandou chamar Moisés e Aarão e lhes disse:
—Desta vez pequei. O SENHOR é justo, eu e o meu povo somos culpados. 28 Peçam ao SENHOR para parar o granizo e os trovões. Eu deixarei vocês saírem, já não os obrigarei a ficar aqui mais tempo.
29 Moisés disse ao faraó:
—Quando sair da cidade, levantarei os meus braços em oração ao SENHOR. Então, os trovões pararão e o granizo acabará. Assim você saberá que a terra pertence ao SENHOR. 30 Mas eu sei que você e os seus ministros ainda não respeitam o SENHOR Deus.
31 As plantas de linho e a cevada ficaram destruídas, pois o linho já tinha flor e a cevada já tinha espiga, 32 mas nada aconteceu ao trigo e ao centeio, porque ainda não tinham brotado.
33 Assim que Moisés saiu da presença do faraó e da cidade, levantou as mãos em oração ao SENHOR. Os trovões e o granizo cessaram e a chuva parou. 34 Quando o faraó viu que a chuva tinha acabado e que já não havia granizo e trovões, voltou a pecar e endureceu o seu coração, ele e os seus ministros. 35 E o faraó não deixou sair os israelitas, tal como o SENHOR tinha lhes dito por meio de Moisés.

9 Then the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
2 For if thou refuse to let them go, and wilt hold them still,
3 Behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: there shall be a very grievous murrain.
4 And the Lord shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of Israel.
5 And the Lord appointed a set time, saying, To morrow the Lord shall do this thing in the land.
6 And the Lord did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
7 And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.
8 And the Lord said unto Moses and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight of Pharaoh.
9 And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.
10 And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast.
11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.
12 And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had spoken unto Moses.
13 And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
14 For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.
15 For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth.
16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
17 As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go?
18 Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.
19 Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
20 He that feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
21 And he that regarded not the word of the Lord left his servants and his cattle in the field.
22 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.
23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
24 So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
25 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.
26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.
27 And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the Lord is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
28 Intreat the Lord (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.
29 And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the Lord; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the Lord's.
30 But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the Lord God.
31 And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled.
32 But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: for they were not grown up.
33 And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the Lord: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.
34 And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the Lord had spoken by Moses.
