^22 (A)But on that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, where My people are ^[a]living, so that no swarms of flies will be there, in order that you may know that ^[b](B)I, the Lord, am in the midst of the land. ²³ I will ^[c]put a division between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign will occur.”’”

^4 (A)But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that ^(B)nothing will die of all that belongs to the sons of Israel.”’” ⁵ And the Lord set a definite time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land.” ⁶ So the Lord did this thing on the next day, and ^(C)all the livestock of Egypt died; ^(D)but not one of the livestock of the sons of Israel died. ⁷ And Pharaoh sent men, and they learned that, behold, not even one of the livestock of Israel was dead. But ^(E)the heart of Pharaoh was ^[a]hardened, and he did not let the people go.

^26 (A)Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, was there no hail.

²³ They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, ^(A)but all the sons of Israel had light in their dwellings.

^13 (A)The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you ^[a]live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will come upon you ^[b]to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

A Memorial of Redemption

²³ For ^(A)the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; but when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and will ^(B)not allow the ^(C)destroyer to come in to your houses to strike you.

²⁷ then you shall say, ‘It is a Passover sacrifice to ^(A)the Lord because He passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians, but ^[a]spared our homes.’” ^(B)And the people bowed low and worshiped.
