¹⁷ Thus says the Lord: “By this ^(A)you shall know that I am the Lord. Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and ^(B)they shall be turned ^(C)to blood.

⁹ And it shall be, if they do not believe even these two signs, or listen to your voice, that you shall take water from ^[a]the river and pour it on the dry land. ^(A)The water which you take from the river will become blood on the dry land.”

⁵ And the Egyptians ^(A)shall know that I am the Lord, when I ^(B)stretch out My hand on Egypt and ^(C)bring out the children of Israel from among them.”

² And Pharaoh said, ^(A)“Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, ^(B)nor will I let Israel go.”

^28 (A)then they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them ^[a]captive any longer.

²³ Thus I will magnify Myself and ^(A)sanctify Myself, ^(B)and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.” ’

Second Bowl: The Sea Turns to Blood

³ Then the second angel poured out his bowl ^(A)on the sea, and ^(B)it became blood as of a dead man; ^(C)and every living creature in the sea died.

Third Bowl: The Waters Turn to Blood

⁴ Then the third angel poured out his bowl ^(D)on the rivers and springs of water, ^(E)and they became blood. ⁵ And I heard the angel of the waters saying:

⁶ These ^(A)have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.
