God belooft opnieuw dat Hij het volk zal bevrijden
6 Verder zei God tegen hem: "Ik ben de Heer. 2 Ik ben naar Abraham, Izaäk en Jakob toe gekomen als de Almachtige God. Maar zij kenden Mij niet met mijn naam 'Heer'. 3 Ik heb eerst een verbond met hen gesloten om hun het land Kanaän te geven.[a] Dat is het land waar ze als vreemdelingen hebben gewoond. 4 Nu zijn ze slaven van de Egyptenaren. Maar Ik heb hun hulpgeroep gehoord. Ik ben mijn verbond niet vergeten. 5 Zeg daarom tegen de Israëlieten: 'Ik ben de Heer. Ik zal jullie uit de slavernij van de Egyptenaren halen. Ik zal jullie op een machtige manier redden en bevrijden. Egypte zal Ik zwaar straffen. 6 Ik zal jullie tot mijn eigen volk maken en Ik zal jullie God zijn. Dan zullen jullie toegeven dat Ik de Heer God ben die jullie uit de slavernij van de Egyptenaren bevrijdt. 7 Ik zal jullie naar het land brengen waarvan Ik heb gezworen dat Ik het jullie zou geven. Ik zal doen wat Ik aan Abraham, Izaäk en Jakob beloofd heb. Ik zal het aan jullie geven. Want Ik ben de Heer."
8 Mozes zei dit tegen de Israëlieten. Maar ze wilden niet naar hem luisteren, omdat ze het zo moeilijk hadden en ze nog steeds slaven waren. 9 Toen zei de Heer tegen Mozes: 10 "Ga naar de farao. Zeg hem dat hij de Israëlieten uit zijn land moet laten vertrekken." 11 Maar Mozes antwoordde: "Heer, de Israëlieten luisterden al niet eens naar me. Waarom zou de farao dan wél naar me luisteren? Ik kan niet eens goed spreken!" 12 Maar de Heer stuurde Mozes en Aäron naar de Israëlieten en naar de farao. Hij wilde dat zij de Israëlieten uit Egypte zouden meenemen.
De families van Ruben, Simeon en Levi
13 Dit zijn de familiehoofden van de familie van Israël:
De zonen van Ruben, de oudste zoon van Israël, waren: Henoch, Pallu, Hezron en Karmi. Zij zijn de familiehoofden uit de familie van Ruben.
14 De zonen van Simeon waren: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar en Saul. Saul was de zoon van een vrouw uit Kanaän. Zij zijn de familiehoofden uit de familie van Simeon.
15 En dit zijn de zonen van Levi in de volgorde waarop ze geboren zijn: Gerson, Kehat en Merari. Levi werd 137 jaar.
16 De zonen van Gerson waren: Libni en Simeï. Dat zijn ook de namen van hun families.
17 De zonen van Kehat waren: Amram, Jizhar, Hebron en Uzziël. Kehat werd 133 jaar.
18 De zonen van Merari waren: Mali en Musi.
Zij zijn de familiehoofden uit de familie van Levi.
19 Amram trouwde met Jochebed, zijn tante. Jochebed raakte in verwachting en kreeg twee zonen: Aäron en Mozes. Amram werd 137 jaar.
20 De zonen van Jizhar waren: Korach, Nefeg en Zichri.
21 De zonen van Uzziël waren: Misaël, Elsafan en Sitri.
22 Aäron trouwde met Eliseba, de dochter van Amminadab. Ze was de zus van Nahesson. Ze raakte in verwachting en kreeg vier zonen: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar en Itamar.
23 De zonen van Korach waren Assir, Elkana en Abiasaf. Zij zijn de familiehoofden van de familie van Korach.
24 Eleazar, de zoon van Aäron, trouwde met één van de dochters van Putiël. Ze kreeg een zoon: Pinehas.
Dit zijn de familiehoofden van de stam van Levi. Dat zijn ook de namen van hun families.
25 En dit zijn die Aäron en Mozes tegen wie de Heer heeft gezegd: "Neem het hele volk van de Israëlieten mee uit Egypte.' 26 Zij zijn het die tegen de farao hebben gezegd dat hij de Israëlieten uit Egypte moest laten vertrekken. Dit zijn die Mozes en Aäron.
Mozes gaat voor de tweede keer naar de farao
27 In Egypte zei de Heer tegen Mozes: 28 "Ik ben de Heer. Zeg tegen de farao alles wat Ik tegen jou zeg." 29 Maar Mozes zei tegen de Heer: "Ik kan helemaal niet goed spreken. Waarom zou de farao naar mij luisteren?" (lees verder)

6 El Señor respondió:
—Ahora verás lo que voy a hacer con el faraón. Realmente, solo por mi mano poderosa va a dejar que se vayan; solo por mi mano poderosa va a echarlos de su país.
2 En otra ocasión, Dios habló con Moisés y dijo: «Yo soy el Señor. 3 Me aparecí a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob bajo el nombre de Dios Todopoderoso, pero no les revelé mi verdadero nombre, que es el Señor.[a] 4 También con ellos confirmé mi pacto de darles la tierra de Canaán, donde residieron como forasteros. 5 He oído además el quejido de los israelitas, a quienes los egipcios han esclavizado, y he recordado mi pacto.
6 »Así que ve y di a los israelitas: “Yo soy el Señor, y voy a quitarles de encima la opresión de los egipcios. Voy a librarlos de su esclavitud; voy a liberarlos con gran despliegue de poder y con grandes actos de justicia. 7 Haré de ustedes mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor su Dios, que los libró de la opresión de los egipcios. 8 Y los llevaré a la tierra que juré solemnemente con la mano en alto dar a Abraham, Isaac y Jacob. Yo, el Señor, les daré a ustedes posesión de ella”».
9 Moisés dio a conocer esto a los israelitas, pero por su desánimo y las penurias de su esclavitud ellos no hicieron caso.
10 Entonces el Señor habló con Moisés y dijo:
11 —Ve y habla con el faraón, el rey de Egipto. Dile que deje salir de su país a los israelitas.
12 Pero Moisés respondió al Señor:
—¿Y cómo va a hacerme caso el faraón si ni siquiera los israelitas me creen? Además, no tengo facilidad de palabra.[b]
Descendientes de Rubén, Simeón y Leví
13 En otra ocasión el Señor habló con Moisés y Aarón acerca de los israelitas y del faraón, rey egipcio, y les ordenó sacar de Egipto a los israelitas.
14 Estos fueron los jefes de las familias patriarcales:
Los hijos de Rubén, primogénito de Israel:
Janoc, Falú, Jezrón y Carmí.
Estos fueron los clanes de Rubén.
15 Los hijos de Simeón:
Jemuel, Jamín, Oad, Jaquín, Zojar y Saúl, hijo de la cananea.
Estos fueron los clanes de Simeón.
16 Según los registros familiares, estos son los nombres de los hijos de Leví, quien vivió ciento treinta y siete años:
Guersón, Coat y Merari.
17 Los hijos de Guersón, según sus clanes:
Libní y Simí.
18 Los hijos de Coat, quien vivió ciento treinta y tres años:
Amirán, Izar, Hebrón y Uziel.
19 Los hijos de Merari:
Majlí y Musí.
Estos fueron los clanes de Leví, según sus registros familiares.
20 Amirán, que vivió ciento treinta y siete años, se casó con su tía Jocabed, la cual le dio dos hijos, Aarón y Moisés.
21 Los hijos de Izar:
Coré, Néfeg y Zicrí.
22 Los hijos de Uziel:
Misael, Elzafán y Sitri.
23 Aarón se casó con Elisabet, hija de Aminadab y hermana de Naasón, y ella le dio cuatro hijos: Nadab, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar.
24 Los hijos de Coré:
Asir, Elcaná y Abiasaf.
Estos fueron los clanes de Coré.
25 Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, se casó con una de las hijas de Futiel, la cual le dio un hijo, Finés.
Estos fueron los jefes de los clanes levitas en orden de familias.
26 Aarón y Moisés son los mismos a quienes el Señor mandó que sacaran de Egipto a los israelitas, ordenados en escuadrones. 27 Son ellos quienes hablaron con el faraón, rey egipcio, en cuanto a sacar de Egipto a los israelitas.

28 Cuando el Señor habló con Moisés en Egipto, 29 le dijo:
—Yo soy el Señor. Habla con el faraón, rey de Egipto, y comunícale todo lo que yo te diga.
30 Pero Moisés respondió al Señor:
—¿Y cómo va a hacerme caso el faraón si yo no tengo facilidad de palabra?

6 Then the Lord said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord:
3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name Jehovah was I not known to them.
4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.
5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the Lord.
9 And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
10 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
11 Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.
12 And Moses spake before the Lord, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?
13 And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
14 These be the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: these be the families of Reuben.
15 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman: these are the families of Simeon.
16 And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: and the years of the life of Levi were an hundred thirty and seven years.
17 The sons of Gershon; Libni, and Shimi, according to their families.
18 And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel: and the years of the life of Kohath were an hundred thirty and three years.
19 And the sons of Merari; Mahali and Mushi: these are the families of Levi according to their generations.
20 And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years.

6 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand(A) he will let them go;(B) because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.”(C)
2 God also said to Moses, “I am the Lord.(D) 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty,[a](E) but by my name(F) the Lord[b](G) I did not make myself fully known to them. 4 I also established my covenant(H) with them to give them the land(I) of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners.(J) 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning(K) of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.(L)
6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.(M) I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem(N) you with an outstretched arm(O) and with mighty acts of judgment.(P) 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God.(Q) Then you will know(R) that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you to the land(S) I swore(T) with uplifted hand(U) to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob.(V) I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’”(W)
9 Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor.(X)
10 Then the Lord said to Moses, 11 “Go, tell(Y) Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.”(Z)
12 But Moses said to the Lord, “If the Israelites will not listen(AA) to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips[c]?”(AB)
Family Record of Moses and Aaron
13 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.(AC)
14 These were the heads of their families[d]:(AD)
The sons of Reuben(AE) the firstborn son of Israel were Hanok and Pallu, Hezron and Karmi. These were the clans of Reuben.
15 The sons of Simeon(AF) were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon.
16 These were the names of the sons of Levi(AG) according to their records: Gershon,(AH) Kohath and Merari.(AI) Levi lived 137 years.

24 The sons of Korah(AW) were Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph. These were the Korahite clans.
25 Eleazar son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas.(AX)
These were the heads of the Levite families, clan by clan.
26 It was this Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said, “Bring the Israelites out of Egypt(AY) by their divisions.”(AZ) 27 They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh(BA) king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt—this same Moses and Aaron.(BB)
Aaron to Speak for Moses
28 Now when the Lord spoke to Moses in Egypt, 29 he said to him, “I am the Lord.(BC) Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you.”
30 But Moses said to the Lord, “Since I speak with faltering lips,(BD) why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
