De heilige rustdag
35 Mozes liet het hele volk bij zich komen en zei tegen hen: "Dit zijn de bevelen die de Heer heeft gegeven over wat er moet worden gemaakt. 2 Jullie mogen er steeds zes dagen aan werken. Maar elke zevende dag moet voor jullie een heilige dag zijn, een dag van volkomen rust voor de Heer. Iedereen die op die dag werkt, zal worden gedood. 3 Jullie mogen op de heilige rustdag in het hele land geen vuur maken."
De geschenken voor de bouw van de tent en voor de heilige kleren
4 Verder zei Mozes: "Dit heeft de Heer bevolen: 5 Laat iedereen van harte iets aan de Heer geven. Dit is wat er nodig is: goud, zilver en koper. 6 Blauwe, paarse en rode stof, fijn linnen en geitenhaar. 7 Rood geverfde schapenvachten, dun leer en acaciahout. 8 Olijf-olie voor de lampen en specerijen voor de zalf-olie en voor het wierook-offer. 9 Edelstenen voor het priesterschort en voor de borsttas. 10 Laat alle vakmannen komen maken wat de Heer bevolen heeft: 11 het houten deel van de tent, de tentkleden, de haakjes en de planken, de dwarsbalken, de palen en de voetstukken, 12 de kist met de draagstokken, het vergevings-deksel, het gordijn dat daarvóór komt, 13 de tafel met de draagstokken en alle dingen die erbij horen, de heilige broden, 14 de kandelaar met alle dingen die erbij horen, de olielampen en de olie, 15 het altaar voor het wierook-offer met de draagstokken, de zalf-olie en het mengsel voor het wierook-offer, het gordijn voor de ingang van de tent, 16 het altaar voor de brand-offers met het rooster van koper dat erbij hoort, de draagstokken en alle dingen die erbij horen, de waskom met het voetstuk, 17 de doeken van de omheining, de palen van de omheining en de voetstukken daarvan, het gordijn voor de ingang van de omheining, 18 de pinnen van de tent en van de omheining, de touwen, 19 de kleren voor de mensen die dienst doen in het heiligdom en de heilige kleren die Aäron en zijn zonen als priesters nodig hebben."
20 Toen ging het hele volk naar huis. 21 Daarna kwam iedereen die dat graag wilde aan de Heer een geschenk brengen voor de tent van ontmoeting, voor de dienst aan God en voor de heilige kleren. 22 Mannen en vrouwen brachten van harte neusringen, oorringen, zegelringen en halskettingen. Allerlei gouden sieraden brachten ze. 23 Veel mannen kwamen een beweeg-offer[a] van goud voor de Heer brengen. Ook brachten ze blauwe, paarse en rode stof, fijn linnen, geitenhaar, roodgeverfde schapenvachten en dun leer. 24 Anderen brachten zilver of koper en gaven het als beweeg-offer aan de Heer. En iedereen die acaciahout had, bracht hout voor alles wat er gemaakt moest worden. 25 Alle vrouwen die konden spinnen, sponnen blauw, paars en rood draad en fijn linnen. Wat ze af hadden, kwamen ze brengen. 26 Alle vrouwen die daar goed in waren en die dat graag wilden, sponnen geitenhaar. 27 De rijke mannen brachten edelstenen voor het priesterschort en de borsttas, 28 specerijen en olijf-olie voor het licht, voor de zalf-olie en voor het wierook-offer. 29 Iedereen die dat graag wilde, kwam iets brengen voor wat er allemaal gemaakt moest worden. Hij gaf het als een vrijwillig geschenk aan de Heer.
30 Mozes zei tegen de Israëlieten: "De Heer heeft iemand uitgekozen om alles te maken: Bezaleël, de zoon van Uri, die een zoon is van Hur uit de stam van Juda. 31 De Heer heeft hem gevuld met zijn Geest. Zijn Geest geeft hem alle wijsheid, verstand en kennis die hij voor dit werk nodig heeft. 32 Bezaleël zal alles ontwerpen en maken van goud, zilver en koper. 33 Ook zal hij de edelstenen bewerken en inzetten, houtsnijwerk maken en alle andere dingen maken. 34 Ook heeft Hij aan hem én aan Aholiab, de zoon van Ahisamach uit de stam van Dan, het talent gegeven om ook andere mensen te leren hoe ze alles moeten maken. 35 De Heer heeft hen met zijn Geest gevuld zodat ze goed zullen zijn in smeden, weven, borduren en dergelijke. Ze zullen alles kunnen maken wat ze ontworpen hebben."

Voorbereidingen voor de tabernakel
35 Toen riep Mozes alle Israëlieten bijeen en zei: ‘Dit zijn de woorden die de Here tot ons heeft gesproken en waarin Hij ons zijn wetten heeft gegeven die wij moeten gehoorzamen. 2 Zes dagen moet er gewerkt worden, maar de zevende dag is een dag van volledige rust, een heilige dag die bestemd is voor de dienst van God. Ieder die op die dag werkt, zal worden gedood. 3 Er mag zelfs geen vuur in de huizen worden aangestoken.’
4 Toen zei Mozes tegen alle Israëlieten: ‘Dit heeft de Here bevolen: 5-9 iedere Israëliet moet met een royaal hart de Here een gave geven. De volgende voorwerpen komen in aanmerking: goud, zilver en koper; blauwpurper, roodpurper, scharlaken, fijn linnen en geitenhaar; roodgeverfde ramsvellen, dassenvellen, acaciahout; olie voor de lampen; kruiden voor het reukwerk en de zalfolie, onyxstenen en andere edelstenen voor het priesterkleed en de borsttas. 10-19 Laten alle vaklieden komen en maken wat de Here heeft bevolen: de tabernakel en zijn overkapping, haken, panelen, dwarsbalken, pilaren en voetstukken; de ark met zijn draagstokken, het verzoendeksel en het gordijn voor het Heilige der Heiligen, de tafel met zijn draagstokken, al het toebehoren en de toonbroden; de kandelaar met toebehoren, lampen en lampolie; het reukofferaltaar met zijn draagstokken, de zalfolie en het reukwerk; het gordijn voor de ingang van de tabernakel; het brandofferaltaar met het bijbehorende koperen rooster, de draagstokken en al het toebehoren; het wasvat met zijn voetstuk; de gordijnen van de voorhof, met de pilaren, de voetstukken en het gordijn voor de ingang van de voorhof; de tentpinnen van de tabernakel en de voorhof en de scheerlijnen; de ambtskleding voor de priesters die dienst doen in de tabernakel: de heilige kleren voor Aäron en zijn zonen, de priesters.’
20 Na die woorden gingen de Israëlieten naar hun tenten terug om hun geschenken klaar te maken. 21 Korte tijd later kwamen zij, gedreven door de werking van Gods Geest, met hun gaven van materialen die voor de bouw van de tabernakel, dus al het toebehoren en de kleding van de priesters, konden worden gebruikt. 22 Mannen en vrouwen kwamen met een gewillig hart en brachten allerlei gouden voorwerpen; oorringen, neusringen, zegelringen en halssieraden. 23 Anderen brachten blauwpurper, roodpurper, scharlaken, fijn linnen, geitenhaar, roodgeverfde ramsvellen en dassenvellen. 24 Weer anderen brachten zilver en koper als hun gave voor de Here; sommigen brachten het acaciahout dat nodig was voor het vervaardigen van verschillende voorwerpen. 25 De vrouwen die goed konden weven en spinnen, maakten blauwpurper, roodpurper, scharlaken en fijn linnen. 26 Andere kundige vrouwen sponnen het geitenhaar. 27 De leiders van het volk brachten onyxstenen en andere kostbare stenen voor het priesterkleed en de borsttas, 28 en kruiden en olie voor de lampen en voor de zalfolie en het reukwerk. 29 Zo bracht het volk—iedere man en vrouw die wilde helpen bij het werk dat de Here hun via Mozes had opgedragen—vrijwillig hun gaven bij Hem.
30,31 Mozes zei tegen de Israëlieten: ‘De Here heeft Besaleël—de zoon van Uri en kleinzoon van Chur, uit de stam Juda—aangewezen als leider en uitvoerder van dit grote werk. 32 De Here heeft hem de wijsheid en het inzicht gegeven om ontwerpen te maken en ze uit te voeren in goud, zilver en koper, 33 het snijden van edelstenen en het zetten ervan en het bewerken van hout. Hij heeft alle capaciteiten voor dit werk. 34 De Here heeft hem en Oholiab de mogelijkheden gegeven hun vakmanschap aan anderen door te geven. Oholiab is de zoon van Achisamach, uit de stam Dan. 35 De Here heeft hun speciale vaardigheden gegeven, die van juweliers, houtbewerkers en wevers van blauwpurper, roodpurper, scharlaken en fijn linnen. Kortom, zij blinken uit in alle vaardigheden die nodig zijn voor de bouw van de tabernakel en alles wat erbij hoort.’

35 And Moses assembled all the congregation of the children of Israel, and said unto them, These are the words which Jehovah hath commanded, that ye should do them. 2 Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day there shall be to you a holy day, a sabbath of solemn rest to Jehovah: whosoever doeth any work therein shall be put to death. 3 Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day.
4 And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which Jehovah commanded, saying, 5 Take ye from among you an offering unto Jehovah; whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, Jehovah’s offering: gold, and silver, and brass, 6 and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ hair, 7 and rams’ skins dyed red, and sealskins, and acacia wood, 8 and oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense, 9 and onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate.
10 And let every wise-hearted man among you come, and make all that Jehovah hath commanded: 11 the tabernacle, its tent, and its covering, its clasps, and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its sockets; 12 the ark, and the staves thereof, the mercy-seat, and the veil of the screen; 13 the table, and its staves, and all its vessels, and the [a]showbread; 14 the candlestick also for the light, and its vessels, and its lamps, and the oil for the light; 15 and the altar of incense, and its staves, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the screen for the door, at the door of the tabernacle; 16 the altar of burnt-offering, with its grating of brass, its staves, and all its vessels, the laver and its base; 17 the hangings of the court, the pillars thereof, and their sockets, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18 the pins of the tabernacle, and the pins of the court, and their cords; 19 the finely wrought garments, for ministering in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest’s office.
20 And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. 21 And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and brought Jehovah’s offering, for the work of the tent of meeting, and for all the service thereof, and for the holy garments. 22 And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing-hearted, and brought brooches, and [b]ear-rings, and signet-rings, and [c]armlets, all jewels of gold; even every man that offered an offering of gold unto Jehovah. 23 And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ hair, and rams’ skins dyed red, and sealskins, brought them. 24 Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought Jehovah’s offering; and every man, with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service, brought it. 25 And all the women that were wise-hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, the blue, and the purple, the scarlet, and the fine linen. 26 And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun the goats’ hair. 27 And the rulers brought the [d]onyx stones, and the stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate; 28 and the spice, and the oil; for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense. 29 The children of Israel brought a freewill-offering unto Jehovah; every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all the work, which Jehovah had commanded to be made by Moses.
30 And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, Jehovah hath called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; 31 and he hath filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship; 32 and to devise skilful works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, 33 and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all manner of skilful workmanship. 34 And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35 Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of workmanship, of the [e]engraver, and of the skilful workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any workmanship, and of those that devise skilful works.

21 And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the Lord's offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.
22 And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto the Lord.
23 And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, and red skins of rams, and badgers' skins, brought them.
24 Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought the Lord's offering: and every man, with whom was found shittim wood for any work of the service, brought it.
25 And all the women that were wise hearted did spin with their hands, and brought that which they had spun, both of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine linen.
26 And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats' hair.
27 And the rulers brought onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate;
28 And spice, and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.
29 The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the Lord, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the Lord had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.
30 And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the Lord hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;
31 And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;
32 And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
33 And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work.
34 And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.
35 Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.
