35 Then Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and said to them, “(A)These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to [a]do:

2 “(B)For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, (C)a Sabbath of complete rest to the Lord; (D)whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. 3 (E)You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day.”

4 Moses spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, “This is the thing which the Lord has commanded, saying, 5 ‘(F)Take from among you a [b]contribution to the Lord; whoever is of a willing heart is to bring it as the Lord’s [c]contribution: gold, silver, and [d]bronze, 6 and [e]violet, purple, and scarlet material, fine linen, goats’ hair, 7 and rams’ skins [f]dyed red, and [g]fine leather, and acacia wood, 8 and oil for lighting, and spices for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense, 9 and onyx stones and setting stones for the ephod and for the [h]breastpiece.

Tabernacle Artisans

10 ‘(G)Have every skillful person among you come and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11 the [i](H)tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its bases; 12 the (I)ark and its poles, the [j]atoning cover, and the covering curtain; 13 the (J)table and its poles, and all its [k]utensils, and the bread of the [l]Presence; 14 the (K)lampstand also for the light and its utensils and its lamps, and the oil for the light; 15 and the (L)altar of incense and its poles, and the (M)anointing oil and the (N)fragrant incense, and the curtain for the doorway at the [m]entrance of the tabernacle; 16 (O)the altar of burnt offering with its [n]bronze grating, its poles, and all its [o]utensils, the basin and its stand; 17 (P)the hangings of the courtyard, its pillars and its bases, and the curtain for the gate of the courtyard; 18 the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the courtyard and their ropes; 19 the [p](Q)woven garments for ministering in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to serve as priests.’”

Gifts Received

20 Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel departed from Moses’ presence. 21 And (R)everyone whose heart [q]stirred him and everyone whose spirit [r]moved him came and brought the Lord’s [s]contribution for the work of the tent of meeting and for all its service, and for the holy garments. 22 Then all [t]whose hearts moved them, both men and women, came and brought brooches and [u]earrings and signet rings and bracelets, all articles of gold; so did everyone who [v]presented an offering of gold to the Lord. 23 Everyone [w]who was in possession of violet, purple, or scarlet material or fine linen or goats’ hair, or rams’ skins [x]dyed red or fine leather, brought them. 24 Everyone who could make a [y]contribution of silver and [z]bronze brought the Lord’s [aa]contribution; and everyone [ab]who was in possession of acacia wood for any work of the service brought it. 25 And all the [ac]skilled women spun with their hands, and brought what they had spun, in violet, purple, and scarlet material, and in fine linen. 26 And all the women whose heart [ad]stirred with a skill spun the goats’ hair. 27 The rulers, moreover, brought the onyx stones and the stones for setting for the ephod and for the [ae]breastpiece; 28 and (S)the spice and the oil for the light and for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense. 29 The [af]Israelites, all the men and women, whose heart [ag]moved them to bring material for all the work, which the Lord had commanded through Moses to be done, brought a [ah](T)voluntary offering to the Lord.

30 (U)Then Moses said to the sons of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 31 And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all [ai]craftsmanship; 32 to create [aj]designs for working in gold, in silver, and in [ak]bronze, 33 and in the cutting of stones for settings and in the carving of wood, so as to perform in every inventive work. 34 He also has put in his heart to teach, both he and (V)Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35 (W)He has filled them with [al]skill to perform every work of an engraver, of a designer, and of an embroiderer, in violet, purple, and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs.

De heilige rustdag

35 Mozes liet het hele volk bij zich komen en zei tegen hen: "Dit zijn de bevelen die de Heer heeft gegeven over wat er moet worden gemaakt. 2 Jullie mogen er steeds zes dagen aan werken. Maar elke zevende dag moet voor jullie een heilige dag zijn, een dag van volkomen rust voor de Heer. Iedereen die op die dag werkt, zal worden gedood. 3 Jullie mogen op de heilige rustdag in het hele land geen vuur maken."

De geschenken voor de bouw van de tent en voor de heilige kleren

4 Verder zei Mozes: "Dit heeft de Heer bevolen: 5 Laat iedereen van harte iets aan de Heer geven. Dit is wat er nodig is: goud, zilver en koper. 6 Blauwe, paarse en rode stof, fijn linnen en geitenhaar. 7 Rood geverfde schapenvachten, dun leer en acaciahout. 8 Olijf-olie voor de lampen en specerijen voor de zalf-olie en voor het wierook-offer. 9 Edelstenen voor het priesterschort en voor de borsttas. 10 Laat alle vakmannen komen maken wat de Heer bevolen heeft: 11 het houten deel van de tent, de tentkleden, de haakjes en de planken, de dwarsbalken, de palen en de voetstukken, 12 de kist met de draagstokken, het vergevings-deksel, het gordijn dat daarvóór komt, 13 de tafel met de draagstokken en alle dingen die erbij horen, de heilige broden, 14 de kandelaar met alle dingen die erbij horen, de olielampen en de olie, 15 het altaar voor het wierook-offer met de draagstokken, de zalf-olie en het mengsel voor het wierook-offer, het gordijn voor de ingang van de tent, 16 het altaar voor de brand-offers met het rooster van koper dat erbij hoort, de draagstokken en alle dingen die erbij horen, de waskom met het voetstuk, 17 de doeken van de omheining, de palen van de omheining en de voetstukken daarvan, het gordijn voor de ingang van de omheining, 18 de pinnen van de tent en van de omheining, de touwen, 19 de kleren voor de mensen die dienst doen in het heiligdom en de heilige kleren die Aäron en zijn zonen als priesters nodig hebben."

20 Toen ging het hele volk naar huis. 21 Daarna kwam iedereen die dat graag wilde aan de Heer een geschenk brengen voor de tent van ontmoeting, voor de dienst aan God en voor de heilige kleren. 22 Mannen en vrouwen brachten van harte neusringen, oorringen, zegelringen en halskettingen. Allerlei gouden sieraden brachten ze. 23 Veel mannen kwamen een beweeg-offer[a] van goud voor de Heer brengen. Ook brachten ze blauwe, paarse en rode stof, fijn linnen, geitenhaar, roodgeverfde schapenvachten en dun leer. 24 Anderen brachten zilver of koper en gaven het als beweeg-offer aan de Heer. En iedereen die acaciahout had, bracht hout voor alles wat er gemaakt moest worden. 25 Alle vrouwen die konden spinnen, sponnen blauw, paars en rood draad en fijn linnen. Wat ze af hadden, kwamen ze brengen. 26 Alle vrouwen die daar goed in waren en die dat graag wilden, sponnen geitenhaar. 27 De rijke mannen brachten edelstenen voor het priesterschort en de borsttas, 28 specerijen en olijf-olie voor het licht, voor de zalf-olie en voor het wierook-offer. 29 Iedereen die dat graag wilde, kwam iets brengen voor wat er allemaal gemaakt moest worden. Hij gaf het als een vrijwillig geschenk aan de Heer.

30 Mozes zei tegen de Israëlieten: "De Heer heeft iemand uitgekozen om alles te maken: Bezaleël, de zoon van Uri, die een zoon is van Hur uit de stam van Juda. 31 De Heer heeft hem gevuld met zijn Geest. Zijn Geest geeft hem alle wijsheid, verstand en kennis die hij voor dit werk nodig heeft. 32 Bezaleël zal alles ontwerpen en maken van goud, zilver en koper. 33 Ook zal hij de edelstenen bewerken en inzetten, houtsnijwerk maken en alle andere dingen maken. 34 Ook heeft Hij aan hem én aan Aholiab, de zoon van Ahisamach uit de stam van Dan, het talent gegeven om ook andere mensen te leren hoe ze alles moeten maken. 35 De Heer heeft hen met zijn Geest gevuld zodat ze goed zullen zijn in smeden, weven, borduren en dergelijke. Ze zullen alles kunnen maken wat ze ontworpen hebben."
