The New Stone Tablets
34 The Lord said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones,(A) and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets,(B) which you broke.(C) 2 Be ready in the morning, and then come up on Mount Sinai.(D) Present yourself to me there on top of the mountain. 3 No one is to come with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain;(E) not even the flocks and herds may graze in front of the mountain.”
4 So Moses chiseled(F) out two stone tablets like the first ones and went up Mount Sinai early in the morning, as the Lord had commanded him; and he carried the two stone tablets in his hands.(G) 5 Then the Lord came down in the cloud(H) and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord.(I) 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate(J) and gracious God, slow to anger,(K) abounding in love(L) and faithfulness,(M) 7 maintaining love to thousands,(N) and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.(O) Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished;(P) he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”(Q)
8 Moses bowed to the ground at once and worshiped. 9 “Lord,” he said, “if I have found favor(R) in your eyes, then let the Lord go with us.(S) Although this is a stiff-necked(T) people, forgive our wickedness and our sin,(U) and take us as your inheritance.”(V)
10 Then the Lord said: “I am making a covenant(W) with you. Before all your people I will do wonders(X) never before done in any nation in all the world.(Y) The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the Lord, will do for you. 11 Obey what I command(Z) you today. I will drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.(AA) 12 Be careful not to make a treaty(AB) with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare(AC) among you. 13 Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles.[a](AD) 14 Do not worship any other god,(AE) for the Lord, whose name(AF) is Jealous, is a jealous God.(AG)
15 “Be careful not to make a treaty(AH) with those who live in the land; for when they prostitute(AI) themselves to their gods and sacrifice to them, they will invite you and you will eat their sacrifices.(AJ) 16 And when you choose some of their daughters as wives(AK) for your sons and those daughters prostitute themselves to their gods,(AL) they will lead your sons to do the same.
17 “Do not make any idols.(AM)
18 “Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread.(AN) For seven days eat bread made without yeast,(AO) as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv,(AP) for in that month you came out of Egypt.
19 “The first offspring(AQ) of every womb belongs to me, including all the firstborn males of your livestock, whether from herd or flock. 20 Redeem the firstborn donkey with a lamb, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck.(AR) Redeem all your firstborn sons.(AS)
“No one is to appear before me empty-handed.(AT)
21 “Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest;(AU) even during the plowing season and harvest(AV) you must rest.
22 “Celebrate the Festival of Weeks with the firstfruits(AW) of the wheat harvest, and the Festival of Ingathering(AX) at the turn of the year.[b] 23 Three times(AY) a year all your men are to appear before the Sovereign Lord, the God of Israel. 24 I will drive out nations(AZ) before you and enlarge your territory,(BA) and no one will covet your land when you go up three times each year to appear before the Lord your God.
25 “Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast,(BB) and do not let any of the sacrifice from the Passover Festival remain until morning.(BC)
26 “Bring the best of the firstfruits(BD) of your soil to the house of the Lord your God.
“Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.”(BE)
27 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write(BF) down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant(BG) with you and with Israel.” 28 Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights(BH) without eating bread or drinking water.(BI) And he wrote on the tablets(BJ) the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.(BK)
The Radiant Face of Moses
29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai(BL) with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands,(BM) he was not aware that his face was radiant(BN) because he had spoken with the Lord. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community(BO) came back to him, and he spoke to them. 32 Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands(BP) the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.
33 When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil(BQ) over his face. 34 But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 they saw that his face was radiant.(BR) Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.

34 Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Alísate dos tablas de piedra como las primeras, y escribiré sobre esas tablas las palabras que estaban en las tablas primeras que quebraste. 2 Prepárate, pues, para mañana, y sube de mañana al monte de Sinaí, y preséntate ante mí sobre la cumbre del monte. 3 Y no suba hombre contigo, ni parezca alguno en todo el monte; ni ovejas ni bueyes pazcan delante del monte. 4 Y Moisés alisó dos tablas de piedra como las primeras; y se levantó de mañana y subió al monte Sinaí, como le mandó Jehová, y llevó en su mano las dos tablas de piedra. 5 Y Jehová descendió en la nube, y estuvo allí con él, proclamando el nombre de Jehová. 6 Y pasando Jehová por delante de él, proclamó: ¡Jehová! ¡Jehová! fuerte, misericordioso y piadoso; tardo para la ira, y grande en misericordia y verdad; 7 que guarda misericordia a millares, que perdona la iniquidad, la rebelión y el pecado, y que de ningún modo tendrá por inocente al malvado; que visita la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos y sobre los hijos de los hijos, hasta la tercera y cuarta generación.(A) 8 Entonces Moisés, apresurándose, bajó la cabeza hacia el suelo y adoró. 9 Y dijo: Si ahora, Señor, he hallado gracia en tus ojos, vaya ahora el Señor en medio de nosotros; porque es un pueblo de dura cerviz; y perdona nuestra iniquidad y nuestro pecado, y tómanos por tu heredad.
10 Y él contestó: He aquí, yo hago pacto delante de todo tu pueblo; haré maravillas que no han sido hechas en toda la tierra, ni en nación alguna, y verá todo el pueblo en medio del cual estás tú, la obra de Jehová; porque será cosa tremenda la que yo haré contigo.

11 Guarda lo que yo te mando hoy; he aquí que yo echo de delante de tu presencia al amorreo, al cananeo, al heteo, al ferezeo, al heveo y al jebuseo. 12 Guárdate de hacer alianza con los moradores de la tierra donde has de entrar, para que no sean tropezadero en medio de ti. 13 Derribaréis sus altares, y quebraréis sus estatuas, y cortaréis sus imágenes de Asera.(B) 14 Porque no te has de inclinar a ningún otro dios, pues Jehová, cuyo nombre es Celoso, Dios celoso es. 15 Por tanto, no harás alianza con los moradores de aquella tierra; porque fornicarán en pos de sus dioses, y ofrecerán sacrificios a sus dioses, y te invitarán, y comerás de sus sacrificios; 16 o tomando de sus hijas para tus hijos, y fornicando sus hijas en pos de sus dioses, harán fornicar también a tus hijos en pos de los dioses de ellas.
17 No te harás dioses de fundición.(C)

18 La fiesta de los panes sin levadura guardarás;(D) siete días comerás pan sin levadura, según te he mandado, en el tiempo señalado del mes de Abib; porque en el mes de Abib saliste de Egipto. 19 Todo primer nacido, mío es;(E) y de tu ganado todo primogénito de vaca o de oveja, que sea macho. 20 Pero redimirás con cordero el primogénito del asno; y si no lo redimieres, quebrarás su cerviz. Redimirás todo primogénito de tus hijos;(F) y ninguno se presentará delante de mí con las manos vacías.
21 Seis días trabajarás, mas en el séptimo día descansarás;(G) aun en la arada y en la siega, descansarás. 22 También celebrarás la fiesta de las semanas, la de las primicias de la siega del trigo,(H) y la fiesta de la cosecha a la salida del año.(I) 23 Tres veces en el año se presentará todo varón tuyo delante de Jehová el Señor, Dios de Israel. 24 Porque yo arrojaré a las naciones de tu presencia, y ensancharé tu territorio; y ninguno codiciará tu tierra, cuando subas para presentarte delante de Jehová tu Dios tres veces en el año.
25 No ofrecerás cosa leudada junto con la sangre de mi sacrificio, ni se dejará hasta la mañana nada del sacrificio de la fiesta de la pascua.(J) 26 Las primicias de los primeros frutos de tu tierra llevarás a la casa de Jehová tu Dios.(K) No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre.(L)
Moisés y las tablas de la ley
27 Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Escribe tú estas palabras; porque conforme a estas palabras he hecho pacto contigo y con Israel. 28 Y él estuvo allí con Jehová cuarenta días y cuarenta noches; no comió pan, ni bebió agua; y escribió en tablas las palabras del pacto, los diez mandamientos.
29 Y aconteció que descendiendo Moisés del monte Sinaí con las dos tablas del testimonio en su mano, al descender del monte, no sabía Moisés que la piel de su rostro resplandecía, después que hubo hablado con Dios. 30 Y Aarón y todos los hijos de Israel miraron a Moisés, y he aquí la piel de su rostro era resplandeciente; y tuvieron miedo de acercarse a él. 31 Entonces Moisés los llamó; y Aarón y todos los príncipes de la congregación volvieron a él, y Moisés les habló. 32 Después se acercaron todos los hijos de Israel, a los cuales mandó todo lo que Jehová le había dicho en el monte Sinaí. 33 Y cuando acabó Moisés de hablar con ellos, puso un velo sobre su rostro. 34 Cuando venía Moisés delante de Jehová para hablar con él, se quitaba el velo hasta que salía; y saliendo, decía a los hijos de Israel lo que le era mandado. 35 Y al mirar los hijos de Israel el rostro de Moisés, veían que la piel de su rostro era resplandeciente; y volvía Moisés a poner el velo sobre su rostro, hasta que entraba a hablar con Dios.(M)

Moses Makes New Tablets(A)
34 And the Lord said to Moses, (B)“Cut two tablets of stone like the first ones, and (C)I will write on these tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke. 2 So be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself to Me there (D)on the top of the mountain. 3 And no man shall (E)come up with you, and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain; let neither flocks nor herds feed before that mountain.”
4 So he cut two tablets of stone like the first ones. Then Moses rose early in the morning and went up Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him; and he took in his hand the two tablets of stone.
5 Now the Lord descended in the (F)cloud and stood with him there, and (G)proclaimed the name of the Lord. 6 And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord (H)God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in (I)goodness and (J)truth, 7 (K)keeping mercy for thousands, (L)forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, (M)by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
8 So Moses made haste and (N)bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped. 9 Then he said, “If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, (O)let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we are a (P)stiff-necked[a] people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as (Q)Your inheritance.”
The Covenant Renewed(R)
10 And He said: “Behold, (S)I make a covenant. Before all your people I will (T)do [b]marvels such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord. For it is (U)an awesome thing that I will do with you. 11 (V)Observe what I command you this day. Behold, (W)I am driving out from before you the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. 12 (X)Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst. 13 But you shall (Y)destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and (Z)cut down their wooden images 14 (for you shall worship (AA)no other god, for the Lord, whose (AB)name is Jealous, is a (AC)jealous God), 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they (AD)play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them (AE)invites you and you (AF)eat of his sacrifice, 16 and you take of (AG)his daughters for your sons, and his daughters (AH)play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.
17 (AI)“You shall make no molded gods for yourselves.
18 “The Feast of (AJ)Unleavened Bread you shall keep. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, in the appointed time of the month of Abib; for in the (AK)month of Abib you came out from Egypt.

The Shining Face of Moses
29 Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the (AW)two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that (AX)the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. 30 So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. 31 Then Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him; and Moses talked with them. 32 Afterward all the children of Israel came near, (AY)and he gave them as commandments all that the Lord had spoken with him on Mount Sinai. 33 And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put (AZ)a veil on his face. 34 But (BA)whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he would take the veil off until he came out; and he would come out and speak to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded. 35 And whenever the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone, then Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.
