⁵ Then the Lord came down in the cloud^(A) and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord.^{(B) 6} And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate^(C) and gracious God, slow to anger,^(D) abounding in love^(E) and faithfulness,^{(F) 7} maintaining love to thousands,^(G) and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.^(H) Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished;^(I) he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”^(J)

¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses;^(A) grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.^(B)

⁸ He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless^(A) on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.^{(B) 9} God is faithful,^(C) who has called you^(D) into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.^(E)

¹⁰ I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,^[a](F) in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you,^(G) but that you be perfectly united^(H) in mind and thought.
