Now Moses used to take (A)the tent and pitch it outside the camp, a good distance from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And (B)everyone who sought Yahweh would go out to the tent of meeting which was outside the camp. And it happened whenever Moses went out to the tent, that all the people would arise and stand, each at the entrance of his tent, and gaze after Moses until he entered the tent. And it happened whenever Moses entered the tent, that (C)the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent; (D)and [a]Yahweh would speak with Moses. 10 And all the people would see the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent. And all the people would arise and worship, each at the entrance of his tent. 11 Thus (E)Yahweh used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. Then [b]Moses would return to the camp, and (F)his attendant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.

Moses Meets with the Lord

Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and (A)called it the tabernacle of meeting. And it came to pass that everyone who (B)sought the Lord went out to the tabernacle of meeting which was outside the camp. So it was, whenever Moses went out to the tabernacle, that all the people rose, and each man stood (C)at his tent door and watched Moses until he had gone into the tabernacle. And it came to pass, when Moses entered the tabernacle, that the pillar of cloud descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord (D)talked with Moses. 10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and (E)worshiped, each man in his tent door. 11 So (F)the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but (G)his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
