The Lord’s Glory

12 Moses said to the Lord, “Look, you have told me, ‘Lead this people up,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You said, ‘I know you by name,(A) and you have also found favor with me.’ 13 Now if I have indeed found favor with you, please teach me your ways,(B) and I will know you, so that I may find favor with you. Now consider that this nation is your people.”(C)

14 And he replied, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”(D)

15 “If your presence does not go,” Moses responded to him, “don’t make us go up from here. 16 How will it be known that I and your people have found favor with you unless you go with us? I and your people will be distinguished by this from all the other people on the face of the earth.”(E)

17 The Lord answered Moses, “I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor with me, and I know you by name.”

18 Then Moses said, “Please, let me see your glory.”(F)

19 He said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim the name ‘the Lord’ before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”(G) 20 But he added, “You cannot see my face, for humans cannot see(H) me and live.” 21 The Lord said, “Here is a place near me. You are to stand on the rock, 22 and when my glory passes by, I will put you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.(I) 23 Then I will take my hand away, and you will see my back, but my face will not be seen.”

35 “I am(A) the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me(B) will ever be hungry,(C) and no one who believes in me(D) will ever be thirsty(E) again. 36 But as I told you, you’ve seen me,[a] and yet you do not believe. 37 Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and the one who comes to me I will never cast out.(F) 38 For I have come down from heaven,(G) not to do my own will, but the will of him(H) who sent me. 39 This is the will of him who sent me: that I should lose none of those he has given me but should raise(I) them up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father: (J) that everyone who sees the Son(K) and believes in him will have eternal life, and I will raise(L) him up on the last day.”

Jesus Prays for His Disciples

“I have revealed your name(A) to the people you gave me(B) from the world.(C) They were yours, you gave them to me,(D) and they have kept your word.(E) Now they know that everything you have given me is from you, because I have given them the words you gave me.(F) They have received them and have known for certain that I came from you.(G) They have believed that you sent me.

“I pray[a] for them. I am not praying for the world but for those you have given me,(H) because they are yours. 10 Everything I have is yours, and everything you have is mine,(I) and I am glorified in them. 11 I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you.(J) Holy(K) Father, protect[b] them by your name(L) that you have given me, so that they may be one(M) as we are(N) one. 12 While I was with them, I was protecting them by your name that you have given me. I guarded(O) them and not one of them is lost, except the son of destruction,[c] so that the Scripture(P) may be fulfilled.(Q) 13 Now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy completed in them. 14 I have given them your word. The world hated(R) them because they are not of the world,(S) just as I am not of the world.(T) 15 I am not praying that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.(U) 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.(V) 17 Sanctify(W) them by the truth; (X) your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world,(Y) I also have sent them into the world. 19 I sanctify myself for them, so that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

Jesus Prays for All Believers

20 “I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in me through their word. 21 May they all be one,(Z) as you, Father, are in me and I am in you.(AA) May they also be[d] in us, so that the world may believe you sent me. 22 I have given them the glory(AB) you have given me, so that they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me,(AC) so that they may be made completely one, that the world may know you have sent me and have loved(AD) them as you have loved me.(AE)

24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am,(AF) so that they will see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the world’s foundation.
