A sarça ardente
3 Um dia em que Moisés levou a pastar os rebanhos de Jetro seu sogro, sacerdote de Midiã, no deserto perto de Horebe, o monte de Deus, 2 apareceu-lhe o anjo do Senhor numa chama de fogo dentro de uma sarça, e a sarça não se consumia. 3 Moisés disse para si mesmo: “Isto é extraordinário! Porque é que a sarça não se consome? Tenho de ir ver isto.” 4 E quando o Senhor viu que Moisés se aproximara para ver melhor, Deus chamou-o do meio da sarça: “Moisés! Moisés!” Ao que ele respondeu: “Pronto! Aqui estou!”
5 “Não te aproximes. Descalça-te, porque estás em terreno sagrado. 6 Eu sou o Deus do teu pai, o Deus de Abraão, de Isaque e de Jacob.”
Moisés desviou o olhar, porque teve receio de olhar para Deus. 7 O Senhor continuou: “Tenho visto a aflição do meu povo no Egito, e tenho ouvido os seus clamores sob a opressão daqueles que os tiranizam. 8 Por isso, desci a livrá-los dos egípcios e a tirá-los dali para uma belíssima e vasta terra, uma terra onde jorra leite e mel, onde habitam os cananeus, os hititas, os amorreus, os perizeus, os heveus e os jebuseus.
9 Sim, o choro do povo de Israel tem subido até mim, e tenho visto as duras condições de vida com que os egípcios os oprimem. 10 Por isso, vou enviar-te ao Faraó para que lhe peças que te deixe levar o meu povo para fora do Egito.”
11 “Mas eu não sou a pessoa indicada para tal!”, exclamou Moisés.
12 Deus insistiu: “Eu estarei seguramente contigo. E a prova de que sou eu próprio que te envia será a seguinte: Quando tiveres levado o meu povo para fora do Egito havereis de adorar Deus aqui mesmo, nesta montanha.”
13 Moisés replicou ainda: “Se eu for ter com o povo de Israel e lhe disser que foi o Deus dos nossos pais quem me enviou, eles vão perguntar-me de que Deus é que eu estou a falar. E o que é que eu lhes digo?”
14 “Que foi o Deus Que é”, foi a resposta. “Diz assim: o eu sou foi quem me mandou. 15 Sim, diz-lhes: O Senhor[a], o Deus dos nossos antepassados Abraão, Isaque e Jacob mandou-me vir ter convosco. Porque este é o meu nome eterno, através de todas as gerações.
16 Reúne então todos os anciãos e conta-lhes como o Senhor, o Deus dos seus antepassados, te apareceu aqui nesta sarça a arder e aquilo que eu te disse: Vim ter com o meu povo e vi o que lhe está a acontecer no Egito. 17 Prometo que hei de salvá-los das cargas e da humilhação que estão a sofrer, e que hei de levá-los para a terra que está agora ocupada pelos cananeus, hititas, amorreus, perizeus, heveus e pelos jebuseus, uma terra onde jorra leite e mel.
18 Os anciãos do povo de Israel hão de aceitar a tua mensagem e irão contigo falar com o rei do Egito. E dir-lhe-ão: O Senhor, o Deus dos hebreus, apresentou-se a nós e mandou-nos que fôssemos a três dias de caminho no deserto oferecer-lhe sacrifícios de adoração. Deixa-nos pois ir.
19 Eu sei que o rei do Egito não vos deixará ir a não ser sob uma pressão muito forte. 20 Por isso, hei de estender a mão para castigar o Egito com maravilhas que se realizarão ali até que, por fim, vos deixe ir.
21 E farei com que os egípcios vos encham de presentes, quando se forem embora. Não hão de deixar o Egito de mãos vazias. 22 Cada mulher irá pedir à vizinha e à mulher do seu patrão toda a espécie de coisas de prata e ouro e dos tecidos mais finos com que vestirão os vossos filhos; e assim despojarão o Egito do que tem de melhor!”

3 Now Moses was tending the flock of (B)Jethro his father-in-law, (C)the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to (D)Horeb, (E)the mountain of God. 2 And (F)the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this (G)great sight, why the bush does not burn.”
4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called (H)to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”
And he said, “Here I am.”
5 Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. (I)Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” 6 Moreover He said, (J)“I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for (K)he was afraid to look upon God.
7 And the Lord said: (L)“I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry (M)because of their taskmasters, (N)for I know their [a]sorrows. 8 So (O)I have come down to (P)deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land (Q)to a good and large land, to a land (R)flowing with milk and honey, to the place of (S)the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. 9 Now therefore, behold, (T)the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the (U)oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 (V)Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
11 But Moses said to God, (W)“Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
12 So He said, (X)“I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a (Y)sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”
13 Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”
14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, (Z)‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” 15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is (AA)My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’ 16 Go and (AB)gather the elders of Israel together, and say to them, ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared to me, saying, (AC)“I have surely visited you and seen what is done to you in Egypt; 17 and I have said (AD)I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.” ’ 18 Then (AE)they will heed your voice; and (AF)you shall come, you and the elders of Israel, to the king of Egypt; and you shall say to him, ‘The Lord God of the Hebrews has (AG)met with us; and now, please, let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’ 19 But I am sure that the king of Egypt (AH)will not let you go, no, not even by a mighty hand. 20 So I will (AI)stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with (AJ)all My wonders which I will do in its midst; and (AK)after that he will let you go. 21 And (AL)I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be, when you go, that you shall not go empty-handed. 22 (AM)But every woman shall ask of her neighbor, namely, of her who dwells near her house, (AN)articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing; and you shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So (AO)you shall plunder the Egyptians.”

3 ଯିଥ୍ରୋ ମୋଶାଙ୍କର ଶ୍ୱଶୁର ଥିଲେ। ଯିଥ୍ରୋ ମିଦିୟନୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଯାଜକ ଥିଲେ। ମୋଶା ତାଙ୍କ ଶ୍ୱଶୁରଙ୍କର ମେଷପଲମାନଙ୍କର ଯତ୍ନ ନେଉଥିଲେ। ଦିନେ ମୋଶା ତାଙ୍କ ମେଷପଲକୁ ମରୁଭୂମିର ପଶ୍ଚିମପଟକୁ ଆଗେଇ ନେଲେ। ମୋଶା ହୋରେବ ନାମକ ଏକ ପର୍ବତକୁ ଗଲେ, ଯାହାକି ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କର ପର୍ବତ ଥିଲା। 2 ସେହି ପର୍ବତରେ, ମୋଶା ଦେଖିଲେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଦୂତ ଏକ ଜ୍ୱଳନ୍ତା ବୁଦା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଥିଲେ।
ମୋଶା ଦେଖିଲେ, ବୁଦାରେ ଅଗ୍ନି ଲାଗି ଥିଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହା ଧ୍ୱଂସ ହେଉ ନ ଥିଲା। 3 ତେଣୁ ମୋଶା ନିଶ୍ଚିତ କଲେ, ସେହି ବୁଦା ପାଖକୁ ଯାଇ ଅଦ୍ଭୂତ ଦୃଶ୍ୟ ଦେଖିବାକୁ। କାହିଁକି ଏହି ବୁଦାଟି ନିଆଁରେ ଜଳି ମଧ୍ୟ ନଷ୍ଟ ହେଉ ନାହିଁ?
4 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଦେଖିଲେ, ମୋଶା ବୁଦା ଆଡ଼କୁ ଆସୁଛନ୍ତି। ତେଣୁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ବୁଦା ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ମୋଶାଙ୍କୁ ଡାକିଲେ, ପରମେଶ୍ୱର କହିଲେ, “ମୋଶା, ମୋଶା!”
ମୋଶା କହିଲେ, “ହଁ ଆଜ୍ଞା, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ।”
5 ଏହା ପରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହିଲେ, “ଆମ୍ଭର ଅଧିକ ନିକଟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ହୁଅ ନାହିଁ। ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଦରୁ ପାଦୁକା କାଢ଼ି ଦିଅ କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେଉଁ ଭୂମିରେ ଛିଡ଼ା ହୋଇଛ ତାହା ପବିତ୍ର ଭୂମି ଅଟେ। 6 ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଅଟୁ। ଆମ୍ଭେ ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଅଟୁ। ଆମ୍ଭେ ଇସ୍ହାକର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଅଟୁ ଏବଂ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯାକୁବର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଅଟୁ।”
ମୋଶା ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖି ଭୟରେ ତାଙ୍କର ମୁହଁ ଆବୃତ କଲେ।
7 ଏହା ପରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହିଲେ, “ଆମ୍ଭେ ମିଶରରେ ଆପଣା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ଅସୁବିଧା ସବୁ ଦେଖିଅଛୁ ଏବଂ ମିଶରୀୟବାସୀ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରଣା ଦେବା ସମୟରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର କ୍ରନ୍ଦନ ଶୁଣିଅଛୁ। ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଯନ୍ତ୍ରଣା ସବୁ ଜାଣିଛୁ। 8 ଏଥିନିମନ୍ତେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ମିଶରୀୟମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ମର୍ତ୍ତ୍ୟକୁ ଯିବା। ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ସେହି ଭୂମିରୁ ଏକ ଉତ୍ତମ ଭୂମିକୁ ନେଇଯିବା, ଯେଉଁଠାରେ ପ୍ରଚୁର ପରିମାଣରେ ଦୁଗ୍ଧ ଓ ମହୁର ବନ୍ୟା ଛୁଟୁଥିବ। ସେଠାରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ କୌଣସି ଅସୁବିଧା ହେବ ନାହିଁ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସେଠାରେ ଅସୁବିଧାରୁ ମୁକ୍ତ ରହିବ। ସମସ୍ତ ଉତ୍ତମ ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟମାନ ମିଳିବ। ବହୁଦେଶୀୟ ଲୋକମାନେ ସେଠାରେ ବାସ କରୁଥିବେ। କିଣାନୀୟ, ହିତ୍ତୀୟ, ଇମୋରୀୟ, ପିରିଷୀୟ, ହିବ୍ବୀୟ ଓ ଯିବୂଷୀୟମାନେ ଯେଉଁ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ବାସ କରନ୍ତି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସେହିଠାରେ ବାସ କରିବ। 9 ଆମ୍ଭେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର କ୍ରନ୍ଦନ ଶୁଣିଅଛୁ। ଆମ୍ଭେ ଦେଖିଅଛୁ ମିଶରୀୟମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କିପରି ଦୌରାତ୍ମ୍ୟ କରିଛନ୍ତି ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଜୀବନ ଦୁର୍ବିସହ କରିଛନ୍ତି। 10 ଏଣୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଫାରୋଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପ୍ରେରଣ କରିବା। ଯାଅ! ଆମ୍ଭର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଗେଇ ନିଅ, ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ମିଶର ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଆଗେଇ ନେଇଯାଅ!”
11 କିନ୍ତୁ ମୋଶା ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ ଫାରୋ ନିକଟକୁ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ କିଏ? କିପରି ମୁଁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ମିଶର ଦେଶରୁ ବାହାରକୁ ଆଣିବି?”
12 ତା'ପରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏହା କରିବାକୁ ସମର୍ଥ କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ସହିତ ଥିବା! ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ପ୍ରେରଣ କରୁଛୁ, ଏହା ତା'ର ପ୍ରମାଣ ମିଶରରୁ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ବାହାର କରି ଆଣିବା ପରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହି ପର୍ବତରେ ଆମ୍ଭର ଉପାସନା କରିବ।”
13 ଏହା ପରେ ମୋଶା ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଯଦି ମୁଁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଯାଇ କହେ, ‘ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ମୋତେ ପଠାଇଛନ୍ତି,’ ଏହା ପରେ ଲୋକମାନେ ଯଦି ମୋତେ ପଗ୍ଭରନ୍ତି, ‘ତାଙ୍କର ନାମ କ’ଣ?’ ମୁଁ ତାଙ୍କୁ କ’ଣ କହିବି?”
14 ଏହା ପରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ମୋଶାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କୁହ, ‘ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯେ ଅଛୁ, ସେ ଅଛୁ,’ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ କୁହ ଯେ, ‘ସ୍ୱୟମ୍ଭୂ’ ମୋତେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଛନ୍ତି।” 15 ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ମୋଶାଙ୍କୁ ଆହୁରି କହିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ସନ୍ତାନଗଣଙ୍କୁ ଏହିକଥା କହିବ, ‘ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷଗଣର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ଅବ୍ରହାମର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର, ଇସ୍ହାକର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର, ଯାକୁବର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ (ସ୍ୱୟମ୍ଭୂ)ଙ୍କର ଏହି ନାମ ଅନନ୍ତକାଳସ୍ଥାୟୀ, ପୁଣି ପୁରୁଷାନୁକ୍ରମେ ସ୍ମରଣୀୟ ଅଟେ।’ ‘ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ମୋତେ ପଠାଇଛନ୍ତି।”’
16 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆହୁରି କହିଲେ, “ଯାଅ ଏବଂ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟ ପ୍ରାଚୀନଗଣଙ୍କୁ କୁହ, ‘ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷଗଣର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର, ଅବ୍ରହାମ, ଇସ୍ହାକ ଓ ଯାକୁବର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର, ମୋତେ କହି ଅଛନ୍ତି, ମିଶରୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ତୁମ୍ଭଙ୍କୁ ଦିଆଯାଇଥିବା ଯନ୍ତ୍ରଣାସବୁ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଟିପି ନେଇଅଛୁ। 17 ଏବଂ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ମିଶରୀୟମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରିବାକୁ ନିଷ୍ପତ୍ତି କରିଛୁ। ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କିଣାନୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ହିତ୍ତୀୟମାନଙ୍କ, ପିରିଷୀୟମାନଙ୍କ, ହିବ୍ବୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଓ ଯିବୂଷୀୟମାନଙ୍କର ଦୁଗ୍ଧମଧୁପ୍ରବାହୀ ଦେଶକୁ ନେଇଯିବା।’
18 “ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପ୍ରାଚୀନଗଣ ତୁମ୍ଭର କଥା ଶୁଣିବେ। ପ୍ରାଚୀନବର୍ଗମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ମିଶରର ରାଜା ଫାରୋଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଯାଅ। ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିବ, ‘ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏବ୍ରୀୟମାନଙ୍କର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର, ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ସାକ୍ଷାତ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି। ତେଣୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ବିନୟ କରୁଅଛୁ, ତିନି ଦିନ ମରୁଭୂମି ମଧ୍ୟକୁ ଯାତ୍ରା କରି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ବଳିଦାନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଅନୁମତି ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ।’
19 “କିନ୍ତୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଜାଣୁ ଯେ, ଅଦୃଶ୍ୟ ହାତର ଶକ୍ତି ବିନା ମିଶରର ରାଜାକୁ ଜବରଦସ୍ତ କରାଗଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯିବାକୁ ଦେବ ନାହିଁ। 20 ତେଣୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ମହାନ ଶକ୍ତି ମିଶର ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରାଇବା। ଆମ୍ଭେ ମିଶରରେ ଆଶ୍ଚର୍ଯ୍ୟ କର୍ମମାନ ଘଟାଇବା, ଏହା ଆମ୍ଭେ କରିବା ପରେ ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯିବାକୁ ଦେବ। 21 ଆଉ ଆମ୍ଭେ ମିଶରୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଏହି ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହର ପାତ୍ର କରିବା, ତହିଁରେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଯାତ୍ରା ସମୟରେ ସେମାନେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉପହାରମାନ ଦେବେ।
22 “ସମସ୍ତ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲୀୟ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରତିବାସିନୀ ଓ ଆପଣା ଗୃହପ୍ରବାସିନୀ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ନିକଟରୁ ରୌପ୍ୟ, ଅଳଙ୍କାର ଓ ସ୍ୱର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଅଳଙ୍କାର ଓ ବସ୍ତ୍ର ମାଗି ନେଇଯିବ, ପୁଣି ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆପଣା ପୁତ୍ରକନ୍ୟାଙ୍କୁ ପିନ୍ଧାଇବ। ଏହିପରି ଭାବରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମିଶରୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ ହରଣ କରିବ।”
