Gods bevelen voor Aäron en zijn zonen, om hen tot priesters te maken
29 Doe de volgende dingen met hen. Daarna zijn ze klaar voor hun werk voor Mij: ze zullen mijn priesters zijn. Neem één gezonde jonge stier en twee gezonde mannetjes-schapen. 2 Bak van fijn tarwemeel ongegist brood en ongegiste broodkoeken die met olie zijn klaargemaakt, en ongegiste dunne koeken die met olie zijn bestreken. 3 Leg ze in een mand en breng ze met de stier en de twee schapen naar de tent van ontmoeting.
4 Laat Aäron en zijn zonen naar de ingang van de tent van ontmoeting komen. Was hen met water. 5 Trek dan Aäron de priesterkleren aan: het onderkleed, het bovenkleed, het priesterschort en de borsttas. 6 Maak de gordel van het priesterschort om zijn middel vast. Zet de tulband op zijn hoofd en maak de heilige gouden plaat aan de tulband vast. 7 Zalf Aäron dan door de zalf-olie over zijn hoofd uit te gieten. 8 Laat daarna zijn zonen komen en trek hen hun priesterkleren aan. 9 Doe een gordel om hun middel en zet de mutsen op hun hoofd. Zij en hun zonen ná hen zullen voor altijd priesters zijn. Zo moet je Aäron en zijn zonen tot priesters maken.
10 Breng dan de stier naar de tent van ontmoeting. Aäron en zijn zonen moeten hun handen op de kop van de stier leggen. 11 Slacht hem daarna bij Mij, vóór de ingang van de tent van ontmoeting. 12 Smeer een deel van het bloed van de stier met je vinger aan de horens van het altaar. Giet de rest van het bloed uit aan de voet van het altaar. 13 Neem daarna al het vet rond de darmen, het vet rond de lever en de twee nieren met het vet dat daaraan zit. Verbrand dat op het altaar. 14 Het vlees, de huid en de darmen moet je buiten het tentenkamp verbranden. Het is een vergevings-offer.
15 Daarna moeten Aäron en zijn zonen hun handen op de kop van één van de schapen leggen. 16 Slacht dat schaap daarna en werp het bloed rondom tegen de zijkanten van het altaar. 17 Verdeel het schaap in stukken. Was de darmen en poten en leg ze op de kop en de andere stukken. 18 Verbrand het hele schaap op het altaar. Het is een brand-offer voor Mij, waar Ik blij mee ben.
19 Daarna moeten Aäron en zijn zonen hun handen op de kop van het andere schaap leggen. 20 Slacht dat schaap daarna en smeer een beetje bloed aan de rechter oorlel van Aäron en van zijn zonen. Ook aan hun rechterduim en aan hun rechter grote teen. De rest van het bloed moet je rondom tegen de zijkanten van het altaar werpen. 21 Neem dan een beetje van het bloed van het altaar en een beetje zalf-olie. Sprenkel dat op Aäron en op zijn kleren. Ook op zijn zonen en op de kleren van zijn zonen. Vanaf dat moment zijn hij, zijn kleren, zijn zonen en de kleren van zijn zonen van Mij.
22 Neem van dit tweede schaap het vet, de staart, het vet rond de darmen, het vet rond de lever, de twee nieren met het vet dat daaraan zit en de rechter schouder. Met dit offer worden Aäron en zijn zonen klaargemaakt om Mij te dienen. 23 Neem uit de mand één brood, één broodkoek die met olie is klaargemaakt en één dunne koek. 24 Leg die op de handen van Aäron en zijn zonen. Ze moeten die naar Mij omhoog houden en heen en weer bewegen. Het is een beweeg-offer. 25 Neem het brood weer uit hun handen en verbrand het op het altaar, bovenop op de stukken vet. Zo is het een brand-offer waar Ik blij mee ben.
26 Neem het borststuk van het tweede schaap, houd het naar Mij omhoog en beweeg het heen en weer. Het is een beweeg-offer. Daarna is het voor jou.
27 Het borststuk en de schouder van dit schaap zijn voor Mij. Ze zijn van het schaap dat is geofferd om Aäron en zijn zonen klaar te maken om Mij te dienen. Houd die stukken naar Mij omhoog en beweeg ze heen en weer. 28 Daarna zijn ze voor Aäron en zijn zonen. Dit moeten jullie voortaan zo doen. Het is een eeuwige wet voor de Israëlieten. Jullie moeten dit als geschenk aan Mij geven. Als jullie dank-offers offeren, moeten jullie het borststuk en de schouder zo bewegen en dan aan Aäron en zijn zonen geven.
29 De priesterkleren van Aäron zullen later voor zijn zoon zijn. En elke volgende zoon moet in die kleren tot hogepriester worden gezalfd en klaargemaakt worden om Mij te dienen. 30 De zoon die na Aäron hogepriester wordt en Mij in de tent van ontmoeting gaat dienen, moet die kleren aantrekken. Als hij tot hogepriester is gezalfd, moet hij de kleren zeven dagen aanhouden.
31 Kook het vlees van het tweede schaap binnen de omheining van het heiligdom. 32 Aäron en zijn zonen moeten dat vlees en het brood dat in de mand zit, opeten bij de ingang van de tent van ontmoeting. 33 Zij eten dan de dingen op waarmee ze bij Mij vergeving hebben gekregen. Daardoor zijn ze geschikt gemaakt om Mij te dienen. Maar andere mensen mogen er niet van eten, want het is heilig. 34 Als er de volgende ochtend nog iets over is van dat vlees en dat brood, moet je dat verbranden. Het mag niet worden opgegeten, want het is heilig.
35 Op deze manier moet je Aäron en zijn zonen klaarmaken om Mij te dienen. Dit duurt zeven dagen. Doe precies wat Ik je gezegd heb. 36 Offer zeven dagen lang elke dag een stier om vergeving te vragen voor Aäron en zijn zonen. Het is een vergevings-offer. En zalf zeven dagen lang elke dag het altaar. 37 Elke dag moet je er zalf-olie overheen gieten. Daarna is het van Mij. Het altaar is heel erg heilig. Elk mens die het aanraakt, en elk ding dat het aanraakt, wordt heilig en is van Mij.[a]
De dagelijkse offers
38 Offer voortaan op dit altaar elke dag twee lammetjes van één jaar oud. 39 Offer het ene lam 's morgens, het andere lam als het avond wordt. 40 Offer bij het eerste lam 1/10 efa (2,2 liter) fijn meel, gemengd met ¼ hin (1 liter) geperste olijf-olie. Je moet er een wijn-offer bij doen van ¼ hin (1 liter) wijn. 41 Offer het tweede lam als het avond wordt. Doe daarmee hetzelfde als met het eerste lam. Zo is het een brand-offer waar Ik blij mee ben. 42 Door alle eeuwen heen moeten elke dag bij de ingang van de tent van ontmoeting deze offers voor Mij gebracht worden. Daar zal Ik bij jullie komen om jullie te ontmoeten en met jullie te spreken. 43 Door mijn aanwezigheid zullen de Israëlieten mijn eigen volk zijn. 44 De tent van ontmoeting en het altaar zijn van Mij. En Aäron en zijn zonen zijn ook van Mij: zij zijn mijn priesters. 45 Ik zal bij de Israëlieten wonen en Ik zal hun God zijn. 46 En ze zullen toegeven dat Ik hun Heer en God ben, die hen uit Egypte heeft gehaald omdat Ik bij hen wilde wonen. Ik ben hun Heer God.

29 “And this is what you shall do to them to hallow them for ministering to Me as priests: (B)Take one young bull and two rams without blemish, 2 and (C)unleavened bread, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil (you shall make them of wheat flour). 3 You shall put them in one basket and bring them in the basket, with the bull and the two rams.
4 “And Aaron and his sons you shall bring to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, (D)and you shall wash them with water. 5 (E)Then you shall take the garments, put the tunic on Aaron, and the robe of the ephod, the ephod, and the breastplate, and gird him with (F)the intricately woven band of the ephod. 6 (G)You shall put the turban on his head, and put the holy crown on the turban. 7 And you shall take the anointing (H)oil, pour it on his head, and anoint him. 8 Then (I)you shall bring his sons and put tunics on them. 9 And you shall gird them with sashes, Aaron and his sons, and put the hats on them. (J)The priesthood shall be theirs for a perpetual statute. So you shall (K)consecrate Aaron and his sons.
10 “You shall also have the bull brought before the tabernacle of meeting, and (L)Aaron and his sons shall put their hands on the head of the bull. 11 Then you shall kill the bull before the Lord, by the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 12 You shall take some of the blood of the bull and put it on (M)the horns of the altar with your finger, and (N)pour all the blood beside the base of the altar. 13 And (O)you shall take all the fat that covers the entrails, the fatty lobe attached to the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them, and burn them on the altar. 14 But (P)the flesh of the bull, with its skin and its offal, you shall burn with fire outside the camp. It is a sin offering.
15 (Q)“You shall also take one ram, and Aaron and his sons shall (R)put their hands on the head of the ram; 16 and you shall kill the ram, and you shall take its blood and (S)sprinkle it all around on the altar. 17 Then you shall cut the ram in pieces, wash its entrails and its legs, and put them with its pieces and with its head. 18 And you shall burn the whole ram on the altar. It is a (T)burnt offering to the Lord; it is a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord.
19 (U)“You shall also take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands on the head of the ram. 20 Then you shall kill the ram, and take some of its blood and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron and on the tip of the right ear of his sons, on the thumb of their right hand and on the big toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar. 21 And you shall take some of the blood that is on the altar, and some of (V)the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and on his garments, on his sons and on the garments of his sons with him; and (W)he and his garments shall be hallowed, and his sons and his sons’ garments with him.
22 “Also you shall take the fat of the ram, the fat tail, the fat that covers the entrails, the fatty lobe attached to the liver, the two kidneys and the fat on them, the right thigh (for it is a ram of consecration), 23 (X)one loaf of bread, one cake made with oil, and one wafer from the basket of the unleavened bread that is before the Lord; 24 and you shall put all these in the hands of Aaron and in the hands of his sons, and you shall (Y)wave them as a wave offering before the Lord. 25 (Z)You shall receive them back from their hands and burn them on the altar as a burnt offering, as a sweet aroma before the Lord. It is an offering made by fire to the Lord.
26 “Then you shall take (AA)the breast of the ram of Aaron’s consecration and wave it as a wave offering before the Lord; and it shall be your portion. 27 And from the ram of the consecration you shall consecrate (AB)the breast of the wave offering which is waved, and the thigh of the heave offering which is raised, of that which is for Aaron and of that which is for his sons. 28 It shall be from the children of Israel for Aaron and his sons (AC)by a statute forever. For it is a heave offering; (AD)it shall be a heave offering from the children of Israel from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, that is, their heave offering to the Lord.
29 “And the (AE)holy garments of Aaron (AF)shall be his sons’ after him, (AG)to be anointed in them and to be consecrated in them. 30 (AH)That son who becomes priest in his place shall put them on for (AI)seven days, when he enters the tabernacle of meeting to minister in the [a]holy place.
31 “And you shall take the ram of the consecration and (AJ)boil its flesh in the holy place. 32 Then Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the (AK)bread that is in the basket, by the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 33 (AL)They shall eat those things with which the atonement was made, to consecrate and to sanctify them; (AM)but an outsider shall not eat them, because they are holy. 34 And if any of the flesh of the consecration offerings, or of the bread, remains until the morning, then (AN)you shall burn the remainder with fire. It shall not be eaten, because it is holy.
35 “Thus you shall do to Aaron and his sons, according to all that I have commanded you. (AO)Seven days you shall consecrate them. 36 And you (AP)shall offer a bull every day as a sin offering for atonement. (AQ)You shall cleanse the altar when you make atonement for it, and you shall anoint it to sanctify it. 37 Seven days you shall make atonement for the altar and sanctify it. And the altar shall be most holy. (AR)Whatever touches the altar must be holy.
The Daily Offerings(AS)
38 “Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: (AT)two lambs of the first year, (AU)day by day continually. 39 One lamb you shall offer (AV)in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer [b]at twilight. 40 With the one lamb shall be one-tenth of an ephah of flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of pressed oil, and one-fourth of a hin of wine as a drink offering. 41 And the other lamb you shall (AW)offer [c]at twilight; and you shall offer with it the grain offering and the drink offering, as in the morning, for a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord. 42 This shall be (AX)a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the Lord, (AY)where I will meet you to speak with you. 43 And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle (AZ)shall be sanctified by My glory. 44 So I will consecrate the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. I will also (BA)consecrate both Aaron and his sons to minister to Me as priests. 45 (BB)I will dwell among the children of Israel and will (BC)be their God. 46 And they shall know that (BD)I am the Lord their God, who (BE)brought them up out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.

4 “Bring Aharon and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting, and wash them with water. 5 Take the garments, and put on Aharon the tunic, the robe for the ritual vest, the vest itself, and the breastplate. Fasten the vest on him with its belt. 6 Put the turban on his head and attach the holy ornament to the turban. 7 Then take the anointing oil, and anoint him by pouring it on his head. 8 Bring his sons; put tunics on them; 9 wrap sashes around them, Aharon and his sons; and put the headgear on their heads. The office of cohen is to be theirs by a permanent regulation. Thus you will consecrate Aharon and his sons.
10 “Bring the young bull to the front of the tent of meeting. Aharon and his sons are to lay their hands on the bull’s head, 11 and you are to slaughter the bull in the presence of Adonai at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 12 Take some of the bull’s blood, and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger; pour out all the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. 13 Take all the fat that covers the inner organs, the covering of the liver and the two kidneys with their fat, and offer them up in smoke on the altar. 14 But the bull’s flesh, skin and dung you are to destroy by fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering.
15 “Take one of the rams: Aharon and his sons are to lay their hands on the ram’s head; 16 and you are to slaughter the ram, take its blood, and splash it on all sides of the altar. 17 Quarter the ram, wash the inner organs and the lower parts of the legs, and put them with the quarters and the head. 18 Then offer up the whole ram in smoke on the altar. It is a burnt offering for Adonai, a pleasing aroma, an offering made to Adonai by fire.
(v) 19 “Take the other ram: Aharon and his sons are to lay their hands on the ram’s head; 20 and you are to slaughter the ram, take some of its blood, and put it on the lobe of Aharon’s right ear, on the lobes of his sons’ right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Take the rest of the blood and splash it on all sides of the altar. 21 Then take some of the blood that is on the altar and some of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aharon and his clothing and on his sons and the clothing of his sons with him; so that he and his clothing will be consecrated, and with him his sons and his sons’ clothing. 22 Also take the fat from the ram, the fat tail, the fat that covers the inner organs, the two kidneys, the fat covering them and the right thigh — for it is a ram of consecration — 23 along with one loaf of bread, one cake of oiled bread and one wafer from the basket of matzah which is before Adonai — 24 and put it all in the hands of Aharon and his sons. They are to wave them as a wave offering in the presence of Adonai. 25 Then take them back; and burn them up in smoke on the altar, on top of the burnt offering, to be a pleasing aroma before Adonai; it is an offering made to Adonai by fire.
26 “Take the breast of the ram for Aharon’s consecration, and wave it as a wave offering before Adonai; it will be your share. 27 Consecrate the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of any contribution that has been waved and raised up, whether from the ram of consecration, or from anything else meant for Aharon or his sons; 28 this will belong to Aharon and his sons as their share perpetually due from the people of Isra’el — it will be a contribution from the people of Isra’el from their peace offerings, their contribution to Adonai.
29 “The holy garments of Aharon will be used by his sons after him; they will be anointed and consecrated in them. 30 The son who becomes cohen in his place, who comes into the tent of meeting to serve in the Holy Place, is to wear them for seven days. 31 Take the ram of consecration, and boil its meat in a holy place. 32 Aharon and his sons will eat the ram’s meat and the bread in the basket at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 33 They are to eat the things with which atonement was made for them, to inaugurate and consecrate them; no one else may eat this food, because it is holy. 34 If any of the meat for the consecration or any of the bread remains until morning, burn up what remains; it is not to be eaten, because it is holy. 35 Carry out all these orders I have given you concerning Aharon and his sons. You are to spend seven days consecrating them.
36 “Each day, offer a young bull as a sin offering, besides the other offerings of atonement; offer the sin offering on the altar as your atonement for it; then anoint it to consecrate it. 37 Seven days you will make atonement on the altar and consecrate it; thus the altar will be especially holy, and whatever touches the altar will become holy.
(vi) 38 “Now this is what you are to offer on the altar: two lambs a year old, regularly, every day. 39 The one lamb you are to offer in the morning and the other lamb at dusk. 40 With the one lamb offer two quarts of finely ground flour mixed with one quart of oil from pressed olives; along with one quart of wine as a drink offering. 41 The other lamb you are to offer at dusk; do with it as with the morning grain and drink offerings — it will be a pleasing aroma, an offering made to Adonai by fire. 42 Through all your generations this is to be the regular burnt offering at the entrance to the tent of meeting before Adonai. There is where I will meet with you to speak with you. 43 There I will meet with the people of Isra’el; and the place will be consecrated by my glory. 44 I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar, likewise I will consecrate Aharon and his sons to serve me in the office of cohen. 45 Then I will live with the people of Isra’el and be their God: 46 they will know that I am Adonai their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt in order to live with them. I am Adonai their God.
