De kleren voor de priesters
28 Mozes, als alles af is, moet je je broer Aäron en zijn zonen laten komen. Maak hen klaar om Mij te dienen. Zij worden mijn priesters. Laat dus Aäron en zijn zonen Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar en Itamar komen. 2 Maak speciale heilige kleren voor je broer Aäron. Ze moeten er prachtig uitzien. 3 Laat ze maken door vakmensen die Ik het talent heb gegeven om ze te maken. Alleen in die kleren mag hij Mij als priester dienen. 4 Dit is wat ze moeten maken: een borsttas, een priesterschort, een bovenkleed, een onderkleed met een ingeweven patroon, een tulband en een gordel. Zij moeten deze speciale heilige kleren maken voor je broer Aäron. Ook speciale kleren voor zijn zonen. Die zullen zij dragen bij hun werk als mijn priesters. 5 Voor de kleren zijn gouddraad, blauwe, paarse en rode stof en fijn linnen nodig.
Het priesterschort voor de hogepriester
6 Ze moeten het priesterschort weven van goud, blauw, paars en rood draad en fijn linnen. Het moet een prachtig kunstwerk worden. 7 Er moeten twee schouderbanden aan komen. Die maken de voorkant en de achterkant aan elkaar vast. 8 Aan het priesterschort moet een gordel komen. Daarmee moet de priester het schort omdoen. De gordel moet op dezelfde manier worden gemaakt als het priesterschort zelf en moet eraan vastgemaakt worden. Hij moet worden gemaakt van goud, blauw, paars en rood draad en fijn linnen. 9 Neem twee onyx-stenen. Snijd daarin de namen van de zonen van Israël uit. 10 Zes namen op de ene steen en de zes andere namen op de andere steen. Schrijf ze op in de volgorde waarop de zonen geboren zijn. 11 Je moet dat door een steensnijder laten doen. 12 Dan moeten de twee stenen in gouden zettingen op de schouderbanden van het priesterschort worden vastgezet. Ze stellen het volk Israël voor. Zo draagt Aäron hun namen op zijn schouders. Zo zal Ik aan het volk Israël denken als Aäron bij Mij komt.
13 Maak twee gouden bevestigingsplaatjes. 14 Daaraan komen twee kettinkjes van zuiver goud. Het moeten gouden koordjes worden, gevlochten kettinkjes.
De borsttas voor de hogepriester
15 Maak een borsttas. Het moet een prachtig kunstwerk worden. Maak hem van hetzelfde materiaal als het priesterschort. Dus van gouddraad, blauw, paars en rood draad en fijn linnen. 16 Hij moet van een vierkante lap gemaakt worden, van dubbele stof, 1 span (23 cm) lang en 1 span breed. 17 Vul de voorkant op met vier rijen edelstenen. De eerste rij met sardis, topaas en karbonkel. 18 De tweede rij met smaragd, saffier en diamant. 19 De derde rij met hyacint, agaat en amethist. 20 De vierde rij met turkoois, sardonyx en jaspis. De stenen moeten er met gouden zettingen op vastgezet worden. 21 Voor elke zoon van Israël moet er een steen zijn. Dus twaalf stenen, omdat er twaalf namen zijn. In elke steen moet de naam van één van de twaalf stammen uitgesneden worden.
22 Maak voor de borsttas twee gevlochten kettinkjes van zuiver goud. 23 Maak twee gouden ringen aan de bovenste twee hoeken van de tas. 24 Maak de twee gevlochten gouden kettinkjes aan één kant vast aan de twee gouden ringen. 25 Maak de andere kant van de twee gevlochten kettinkjes vast aan de gouden plaatjes. Maak ze vast aan de voorkant van de schouderbanden van het priesterschort. 26 Maak nog twee gouden ringen aan de onderste twee hoeken van de borsttas, op de binnenrand, aan de kant van het priesterschort. 27 Maak ook twee gouden ringen vast op de twee schouderbanden van het priesterschort. Ze moeten onderaan de schouderbanden komen, aan de voorkant, dicht bij de plaats waar de schouderbanden aan het schort vastzitten. Dus vlak boven de gordel van het priesterschort. 28 Maak dan de twee ringen op de onderste twee hoeken van de borsttas vast aan de ringen van het priesterschort. Doe dat met een blauw koordje. Zo zal de borsttas vastzitten aan de gordel van het priesterschort. Dan kan hij niet van het priesterschort afschuiven. 29 Zo draagt Aäron de namen van de zonen van Israël op zijn hart als hij in het heiligdom komt. Zo zal Ik altijd aan de Israëlieten denken.
30 In de borsttas moet je twee stenen leggen: de Urim (= 'licht') en de Tummim (= 'volmaking'), waarmee Aäron mijn beslissingen vraagt.[a] Zo draagt Aäron ze op zijn hart als hij bij Mij komt. Zo zal Aäron de beslissingen die Ik voor Israël neem, altijd op zijn hart dragen als hij bij Mij komt.
De andere kleren voor de priesters
31 De hogepriester draagt het priesterschort over een bovenkleed. Maak dat bovenkleed van blauwe stof. In het midden komt een halsopening. 32 Die moet rondom een sterk geweven rand hebben, zodat de halsopening niet kan scheuren. 33 Maak langs de onderrand van het kleed granaatappeltjes van blauwe, paarse en rode stof, met daartussenin gouden belletjes. 34 Telkens om en om een gouden belletje en een granaatappeltje, helemaal rondom langs de onderrand van het bovenkleed. 35 Aäron moet dit bovenkleed aan hebben als hij dienst doet. Het geluid van de belletjes moet te horen zijn als hij het heiligdom binnengaat en als hij naar buiten gaat. Anders zal hij sterven.
36 Maak een plaat van zuiver goud en snijd daarin de tekst: 'Heilig voor de Heer'. 37 Maak die plaat met een blauw koordje vast op de voorkant van de tulband. 38 Aäron moet die tulband met die gouden plaat op zijn hoofd dragen. Als de Israëlieten fouten maken wanneer ze hun offers aan Mij brengen, neemt Aäron met die tulband de schuld daarvoor op zich. Hij moet de tulband altijd dragen, zodat Ik die offers toch kan aannemen.
39 Maak voor Aäron een onderkleed van fijn linnen met een ingeweven patroon. Maak ook de tulband van fijn linnen en een gordel. De gordel moet kleurig geborduurd worden. 40 Maak ook voor de zonen van Aäron onderkleren, en prachtige gordels en mutsen. 41 Trek je broer Aäron en zijn zonen die kleren aan. Zalf hen daarna tot priesters. Alleen zó kunnen zij mijn priesters zijn. 42 Maak linnen onderbroeken voor hen. 43 Die broeken moeten van hun heupen tot op hun bovenbenen komen. Aäron en zijn zonen moeten deze kleren aan hebben als ze naar de tent van ontmoeting komen of als ze naar het altaar gaan, om dienst te doen in het heiligdom. Als ze zonder die kleren bij Mij komen, zullen ze sterven. Het is een eeuwig bevel voor hem en voor zijn zonen ná hem.

Priesterkleding
28 ‘Wijd uw broer Aäron en zijn zonen Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar en Itamar tot priesters voor Mij. 2 Maak heilige kleren voor Aäron om te laten zien dat hij aan Mij is gewijd, mooie gewaden die het belang van zijn taak onderstrepen. 3 Geef opdracht aan vaklieden, mensen die hun vak verstaan, kleren te maken die hem zullen onderscheiden van anderen, om hem te heiligen, zodat hij voor Mij het priesterambt kan uitoefenen. 4 Dit is de kleding die zij moeten maken: een borsttas, een priesterkleed, een overmantel, een bewerkt onderkleed, een tulband en een gordel. Ook voor Aärons zonen moeten zij heilige kleding maken. 5 Deze kleding moet worden gemaakt van gouddraad, scharlaken en fijn linnen. 6 Het priesterkleed moet worden gemaakt van goud, blauwpurper, roodpurper, scharlaken en fijn getwijnd linnen. 7 Hij moet uit twee schouderstukken bestaan die aan elkaar moeten kunnen worden bevestigd. 8 De riem van het priesterkleed moet van hetzelfde materiaal worden vervaardigd: goud, blauwpurper, roodpurper, scharlaken en getwijnd fijn linnen. 9 Neem twee onyxstenen en graveer daarop de namen van de twaalf stammen van Israël, 10 op elke steen zes, in volgorde van leeftijd. 11 Gebruik bij het graveren van deze stenen dezelfde werkwijze als bij het maken van een zegel en zet de stenen dan in een gouden zetting. 12 Bevestig de twee stenen op de schouderstukken van het priesterkleed als gedenkstenen voor het volk Israël. Aäron zal hun namen als een voortdurende herinnering voor het oog van de Here op zijn schouders dragen. 13 U moet dus de gouden zettingen maken. 14 Maak ook twee gevlochten gouden kettinkjes en bevestig die aan de gouden zettingen van de stenen op de schouders van het priesterkleed.
15 Maak ook, met gebruikmaking van het beste vakmanschap, een borsttas voor de stenen van het oordeel, die de hogepriester moet dragen wanneer hij Mij om raad vraagt bij een moeilijke beslissing. De borsttas moet van hetzelfde materiaal worden gemaakt als het priesterkleed: gouddraad, blauwpurper, roodpurper, scharlaken en getwijnd fijn linnen. 16 De stof moet dubbel worden gevouwen, zodat een vierkante buidel ontstaat die 23 cm lang en 23 cm breed is. 17 Deze moet u versieren met edelstenen, op de eerste rij sardis, topaas en smaragd, 18 op de tweede rij hematiet, saffier en diamant, 19 op de derde rij opaal, agaat en amethist, 20 op de vierde rij chrysoliet, onyx en jaspis. Deze stenen moeten in goud worden gezet. 21 Elke steen vertegenwoordigt een stam van Israël en de naam van die stam moet op de steen worden aangebracht als een zegel. 22-24 Bevestig de bovenkant van de borsttas met twee gedraaide gouden ketens aan het priesterkleed. Het ene eind van de ketens moet worden vastgemaakt aan de gouden ringen aan de bovenste rand van de borsttas. 25 De andere einden moeten worden bevestigd aan de voorkant van de gouden zettingen van de onyxstenen op de schouderstukken van het priesterkleed. 26 Maak dan twee gouden ringen en bevestig die aan de onderste rand aan de binnenkant van de borsttas. 27 Maak ook nog twee gouden ringen die aan de benedenvoorkant van het priesterkleed, net boven de riem, moeten worden vastgezet. 28 Verbind dan de onderste ringen van het priesterkleed met de onderste ringen van de borsttas door middel van een blauwpurperen koord, zodat de borsttas niet van het priesterkleed kan losraken. 29 Zo zal Aäron de namen van de stammen van Israël in de borsttas op zijn hart dragen wanneer hij het heiligdom binnengaat. Zo zal de Here steeds aan hen worden herinnerd.
30 In de borsttas van Gods oordeel moeten ook de orakelstenen, de Urim en de Tummim, worden opgeborgen, zodat Aäron ze op zijn hart draagt als hij de Here onder ogen komt. Gods beslissing voor de Israëlieten zal Aäron voor het oog van de Here op zijn hart dragen. 31 De mantel die onder het priesterkleed wordt gedragen, moet van blauwpurper worden gemaakt, 32 met een gat in het midden voor Aärons hoofd. De randen van deze halsopening moeten stevig zijn zodat ze niet scheuren. 33,34 De onderste rand van de mantel moet worden versierd met granaatappels—vervaardigd van blauwpurper, roodpurper en scharlaken—en gouden belletjes, om en om. 35 Aäron moet het priesterkleed dragen als hij het heiligdom ingaat om de Here te dienen. De belletjes zullen rinkelen als hij de Here onder ogen komt en als hij de Here weer verlaat, zodat hij niet zal sterven. 36 Maak een rozet van puur goud en graveer daarop de woorden: “Aan de Here gewijd”. 37,38 Bevestig de rozet met een blauwpurperen koord op de voorkant van de tulband. Zo zal Aäron de rozet altijd op zijn voorhoofd dragen en op die manier de schuld dragen die voortkomt uit fouten bij het offeren door de Israëlieten. Hij moet de rozet altijd dragen als hij de Here onder ogen komt, zodat het volk weer wordt geaccepteerd en de Here hen vergeeft.
39 Weef Aärons onderkleed van fijn linnen met een ruitmotief en maak ook de tulband van fijn linnen. Zijn riem moet in allerlei kleuren worden geweven. 40 Maak voor Aärons zonen mantels, riemen en hoofddoeken die voor hen tot een sieraad zijn. 41 Kleed Aäron en zijn zonen in deze kleding. Wijd, zalf en heilig hen daarna, zodat ze mijn priesters kunnen zijn. 42 Maak ook linnen broeken voor hen die tot aan de knie reiken, zodat hun geslachtsdelen niet worden gezien. 43 Die broeken moeten Aäron en zijn zonen dragen wanneer zij de tabernakel ingaan of bij het altaar in het Heilige komen. Als zij dat niet doen, zijn zij schuldig en zullen zij sterven. Dit is een regel die blijvend van kracht is voor Aäron en zijn nageslacht.’

Garments for the Priesthood(A)

The Ephod
5 “They shall take the gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and the fine linen, 6 (N)and they shall make the ephod of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, artistically worked. 7 It shall have two shoulder straps joined at its two edges, and so it shall be joined together. 8 And the [c]intricately woven band of the ephod, which is on it, shall be of the same workmanship, made of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen.
9 “Then you shall take two onyx (O)stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel: 10 six of their names on one stone and six names on the other stone, in order of their (P)birth. 11 With the work of an (Q)engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. You shall set them in settings of gold. 12 And you shall put the two stones on the shoulders of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. So (R)Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders (S)as a memorial. 13 You shall also make settings of gold, 14 and you shall make two chains of pure gold like braided cords, and fasten the braided chains to the settings.
The Breastplate(T)
15 (U)“You shall make the breastplate of judgment. Artistically woven according to the workmanship of the ephod you shall make it: of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, you shall make it. 16 It shall be doubled into a square: a span shall be its length, and a span shall be its width. 17 (V)And you shall put settings of stones in it, four rows of stones: The first row shall be a [d]sardius, a topaz, and an emerald; this shall be the first row; 18 the second row shall be a turquoise, a sapphire, and a diamond; 19 the third row, a [e]jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; 20 and the fourth row, a [f]beryl, an [g]onyx, and a jasper. They shall be set in gold settings. 21 And the stones shall have the names of the sons of Israel, twelve according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, each one with its own name; they shall be according to the twelve tribes.
22 “You shall make chains for the breastplate at the end, like braided cords of pure gold. 23 And you shall make two rings of gold for the breastplate, and put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate. 24 Then you shall put the two braided chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the breastplate; 25 and the other two ends of the two braided chains you shall fasten to the two settings, and put them on the shoulder straps of the ephod in the front.
26 “You shall make two rings of gold, and put them on the two ends of the breastplate, on the edge of it, which is on the inner side of the ephod. 27 And two other rings of gold you shall make, and put them on the two shoulder straps, underneath the ephod toward its front, right at the seam above the [h]intricately woven band of the ephod. 28 They shall bind the breastplate by means of its rings to the rings of the ephod, using a blue cord, so that it is above the intricately woven band of the ephod, and so that the breastplate does not come loose from the ephod.
29 “So Aaron shall (W)bear the names of the sons of Israel on the breastplate of judgment over his heart, when he goes into the holy place, as a memorial before the Lord continually. 30 And (X)you shall put in the breastplate of judgment the [i]Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before the Lord. So Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel over his heart before the Lord continually.
Other Priestly Garments(Y)
31 (Z)“You shall make the robe of the ephod all of blue. 32 There shall be an opening for his head in the middle of it; it shall have a woven binding all around its opening, like the opening in a coat of mail, so that it does not tear. 33 And upon its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet, all around its hem, and bells of gold between them all around: 34 a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe all around. 35 And it shall be upon Aaron when he ministers, and its sound will be heard when he goes into the holy place before the Lord and when he comes out, that he may not die.
36 (AA)“You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet:
HOLINESS TO THE LORD.
37 And you shall put it on a blue cord, that it may be on the turban; it shall be on the front of the turban. 38 So it shall be on Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may (AB)bear the iniquity of the holy things which the children of Israel hallow in all their [j]holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead, that they may be (AC)accepted before the Lord.
39 “You shall (AD)skillfully weave the tunic of fine linen thread, you shall make the turban of fine linen, and you shall make the sash of woven work.
40 (AE)“For Aaron’s sons you shall make tunics, and you shall make sashes for them. And you shall make [k]hats for them, for glory and (AF)beauty. 41 So you shall put them on Aaron your brother and on his sons with him. You shall (AG)anoint them, (AH)consecrate them, and [l]sanctify them, that they may minister to Me as priests. 42 And you shall make (AI)for them linen trousers to cover their [m]nakedness; they shall [n]reach from the waist to the thighs. 43 They shall be on Aaron and on his sons when they come into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near (AJ)the altar to minister in the holy place, that they (AK)do not incur [o]iniquity and die. The Priestly Garments
28 “Have Aaron(A) your brother brought to you from among the Israelites, along with his sons Nadab and Abihu,(B) Eleazar and Ithamar,(C) so they may serve me as priests.(D) 2 Make sacred garments(E) for your brother Aaron to give him dignity and honor.(F) 3 Tell all the skilled workers(G) to whom I have given wisdom(H) in such matters that they are to make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as priest. 4 These are the garments they are to make: a breastpiece,(I) an ephod,(J) a robe,(K) a woven tunic,(L) a turban(M) and a sash. They are to make these sacred garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so they may serve me as priests. 5 Have them use gold, and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and fine linen.(N)
The Ephod(O)
6 “Make the ephod(P) of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen—the work of skilled hands. 7 It is to have two shoulder pieces attached to two of its corners, so it can be fastened. 8 Its skillfully woven waistband(Q) is to be like it—of one piece with the ephod and made with gold, and with blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and with finely twisted linen.
9 “Take two onyx stones and engrave(R) on them the names of the sons of Israel 10 in the order of their birth—six names on one stone and the remaining six on the other. 11 Engrave the names of the sons of Israel on the two stones the way a gem cutter engraves a seal. Then mount the stones in gold filigree settings 12 and fasten them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. Aaron is to bear the names on his shoulders(S) as a memorial(T) before the Lord. 13 Make gold filigree settings 14 and two braided chains of pure gold, like a rope, and attach the chains to the settings.
The Breastpiece(U)
15 “Fashion a breastpiece(V) for making decisions—the work of skilled hands. Make it like the ephod: of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen. 16 It is to be square—a span[a] long and a span wide—and folded double. 17 Then mount four rows of precious stones(W) on it. The first row shall be carnelian, chrysolite(X) and beryl; 18 the second row shall be turquoise, lapis lazuli and emerald; 19 the third row shall be jacinth, agate and amethyst; 20 the fourth row shall be topaz, onyx and jasper.[b] Mount them in gold filigree settings. 21 There are to be twelve stones, one for each of the names of the sons of Israel,(Y) each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes.(Z)
22 “For the breastpiece make braided chains of pure gold, like a rope. 23 Make two gold rings for it and fasten them to two corners of the breastpiece. 24 Fasten the two gold chains to the rings at the corners of the breastpiece, 25 and the other ends of the chains to the two settings, attaching them to the shoulder pieces of the ephod at the front. 26 Make two gold rings and attach them to the other two corners of the breastpiece on the inside edge next to the ephod. 27 Make two more gold rings and attach them to the bottom of the shoulder pieces on the front of the ephod, close to the seam just above the waistband of the ephod. 28 The rings of the breastpiece are to be tied to the rings of the ephod with blue cord, connecting it to the waistband, so that the breastpiece will not swing out from the ephod.
29 “Whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place,(AA) he will bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of decision as a continuing memorial before the Lord. 30 Also put the Urim and the Thummim(AB) in the breastpiece, so they may be over Aaron’s heart whenever he enters the presence of the Lord. Thus Aaron will always bear the means of making decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the Lord.
Other Priestly Garments(AC)
31 “Make the robe of the ephod entirely of blue cloth, 32 with an opening for the head in its center. There shall be a woven edge like a collar[c] around this opening, so that it will not tear. 33 Make pomegranates(AD) of blue, purple and scarlet yarn around the hem of the robe, with gold bells between them. 34 The gold bells and the pomegranates are to alternate around the hem of the robe. 35 Aaron must wear it when he ministers. The sound of the bells will be heard when he enters the Holy Place before the Lord and when he comes out, so that he will not die.
36 “Make a plate(AE) of pure gold and engrave on it as on a seal: holy to the Lord.(AF) 37 Fasten a blue cord to it to attach it to the turban; it is to be on the front of the turban. 38 It will be on Aaron’s forehead, and he will bear the guilt(AG) involved in the sacred gifts the Israelites consecrate, whatever their gifts may be. It will be on Aaron’s forehead continually so that they will be acceptable(AH) to the Lord.
39 “Weave the tunic(AI) of fine linen and make the turban(AJ) of fine linen. The sash is to be the work of an embroiderer. 40 Make tunics, sashes and caps for Aaron’s sons(AK) to give them dignity and honor.(AL) 41 After you put these clothes(AM) on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint(AN) and ordain them. Consecrate them so they may serve me as priests.(AO)
42 “Make linen undergarments(AP) as a covering for the body, reaching from the waist to the thigh. 43 Aaron and his sons must wear them whenever they enter the tent of meeting(AQ) or approach the altar to minister in the Holy Place,(AR) so that they will not incur guilt and die.(AS)

28 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.
2 And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.
3 And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.
4 And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.
5 And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen.
6 And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work.
7 It shall have the two shoulderpieces thereof joined at the two edges thereof; and so it shall be joined together.
8 And the curious girdle of the ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same, according to the work thereof; even of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen.
9 And thou shalt take two onyx stones, and grave on them the names of the children of Israel:
10 Six of their names on one stone, and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.
11 With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, shalt thou engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel: thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold.
12 And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord upon his two shoulders for a memorial.
13 And thou shalt make ouches of gold;
14 And two chains of pure gold at the ends; of wreathen work shalt thou make them, and fasten the wreathen chains to the ouches.
15 And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; after the work of the ephod thou shalt make it; of gold, of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, and of fine twined linen, shalt thou make it.
16 Foursquare it shall be being doubled; a span shall be the length thereof, and a span shall be the breadth thereof.
17 And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row.
18 And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond.
19 And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst.
20 And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings.
21 And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.
22 And thou shalt make upon the breastplate chains at the ends of wreathen work of pure gold.
23 And thou shalt make upon the breastplate two rings of gold, and shalt put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.
24 And thou shalt put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends of the breastplate.
25 And the other two ends of the two wreathen chains thou shalt fasten in the two ouches, and put them on the shoulderpieces of the ephod before it.
26 And thou shalt make two rings of gold, and thou shalt put them upon the two ends of the breastplate in the border thereof, which is in the side of the ephod inward.
27 And two other rings of gold thou shalt make, and shalt put them on the two sides of the ephod underneath, toward the forepart thereof, over against the other coupling thereof, above the curious girdle of the ephod.
28 And they shall bind the breastplate by the rings thereof unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it may be above the curious girdle of the ephod, and that the breastplate be not loosed from the ephod.
29 And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the Lord continually.
30 And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goeth in before the Lord: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the Lord continually.
31 And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue.
32 And there shall be an hole in the top of it, in the midst thereof: it shall have a binding of woven work round about the hole of it, as it were the hole of an habergeon, that it be not rent.
33 And beneath upon the hem of it thou shalt make pomegranates of blue, and of purple, and of scarlet, round about the hem thereof; and bells of gold between them round about:
34 A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe round about.
35 And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when he goeth in unto the holy place before the Lord, and when he cometh out, that he die not.
36 And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, Holiness To The Lord.
37 And thou shalt put it on a blue lace, that it may be upon the mitre; upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be.
38 And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the Lord.
39 And thou shalt embroider the coat of fine linen, and thou shalt make the mitre of fine linen, and thou shalt make the girdle of needlework.
40 And for Aaron's sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty.
41 And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office.
42 And thou shalt make them linen breeches to cover their nakedness; from the loins even unto the thighs they shall reach:
43 And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him.
