People Affirm Their Covenant with God
24 Then He said to Moses, “(A)Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, (B)Nadab and Abihu, and (C)seventy of the elders of Israel, and you shall worship at a distance. 2 Moses alone, however, shall approach the Lord, but they shall not approach, nor shall the people come up with him.”
3 Then Moses came and reported to the people all the words of the Lord and all the [a]ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice and said, “(D)All the words which the Lord has spoken we will do!” 4 And (E)Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. Then he got up early in the morning, and built an (F)altar [b]at the foot of the mountain with twelve memorial stones for the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And he sent young men of the sons of Israel, (G)and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed bulls as peace offerings to the Lord. 6 (H)Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and the other half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 Then he took (I)the Book of the Covenant and read it [c]as the people listened; and they said, “(J)All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient!” 8 So (K)Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, “Behold (L)the blood of the covenant, which the Lord has [d]made with you [e]in accordance with all these words.”
9 Then Moses went up [f]with Aaron, (M)Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10 and (N)they saw the God of Israel; and under His feet [g](O)there appeared to be a pavement of sapphire, [h]as clear as the sky itself. 11 Yet He did not reach out with His hand against the nobles of the sons of Israel; and (P)they saw God, and they ate and drank.
12 Now the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and [i]stay there, and (Q)I will give you the stone tablets [j]with the Law and the [k]commandments which I have written for their instruction.” 13 So Moses got up [l]along with (R)Joshua his [m]servant, and Moses went up to (S)the mountain of God. 14 But to the elders he said, “(T)Wait here for us until we return to you. And behold, (U)Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever [n]has a legal matter, have him approach them.” 15 Then Moses went up to the mountain, and (V)the cloud covered the mountain. 16 (W)The glory of the Lord [o]settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; and on the seventh day He (X)called to Moses from the midst of the cloud. 17 (Y)And to the eyes of the sons of Israel, the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a (Z)consuming fire on the mountain top. 18 Then Moses entered the midst of the cloud [p]as he went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain for (AA)forty days and forty nights.

24 耶和華又指示摩西說：「你和亞倫、拿答、亞比戶及以色列的七十位長老上我這裡來，遠遠地敬拜我。 2 只有你可以靠近我，其他人，包括全體百姓，都不得走近。」
3 摩西下山把耶和華的話和法令都告訴百姓，百姓齊聲回答：「我們願意遵行耶和華的一切吩咐。」 4 摩西把耶和華的這些話記錄下來。第二天清晨，摩西在山腳築了一座壇，立了十二根柱子代表以色列的十二支派。 5 他又吩咐以色列的青年去給耶和華獻燔祭，又獻上公牛作平安祭。 6 摩西把祭牲的血一半放在盆裡，一半灑在壇上。 7 他又把約書念給百姓聽，百姓聽了都說：「我們願意遵行耶和華的一切吩咐，我們願意順服。」 8 摩西便把盆中的血灑在百姓身上，說：「這是立約的血，是耶和華按所說的話與你們立約的憑據。」
9 之後，摩西、亞倫、拿答、亞比戶及七十位長老便上了山。 10 他們都看見了以色列的上帝，祂的腳下好像是一片藍寶石，像天一樣明淨。 11 上帝沒有伸手殺這些以色列的首領，允許他們看見祂，在祂面前吃喝。
12 耶和華對摩西說：「你上山到我這裡來，留在這裡，我要把寫著律法和誡命的石版賜給你，你可以用來教導百姓。」 13 於是，摩西帶著他的助手約書亞動身上了上帝的山。 14 離開之前，摩西吩咐長老說：「你們在這裡等候我們回來。亞倫和戶珥跟你們在一起，百姓當中有什麼訴訟的事情，可以交給他們處理。」

24 Og til Moses sa han: Stig op til Herren, du og Aron, Nadab og Abihu og sytti av Israels eldste, og I skal tilbede på avstand.
2 Men Moses alene skal komme nær til Herren, de andre skal ikke gå nær til, og folket skal ikke stige op med ham.
3 Så kom Moses og forkynte folket alle Herrens ord og alle lovene; og hele folket svarte med én røst: Alle de ord Herren har talt, vil vi holde oss efter.
4 Så skrev Moses op alle Herrens ord, og han stod tidlig op om morgenen og bygget et alter nedenfor fjellet og tolv støtter for de tolv Israels stammer.
5 Siden sendte han nogen unge menn av Israels barn dit, og de bar frem brennoffer og ofret slaktoffer av okser til takkoffer for Herren.
6 Og Moses tok halvdelen av blodet og helte det ut i skåler, og halvdelen av blodet sprengte han på alteret.
7 Så tok han paktens bok og leste den op for folket; og de sa: Alt det Herren har sagt, vil vi gjøre og lyde.
8 Da tok Moses blodet og sprengte det på folket; og han sa: Se, dette er paktens blod, den pakt som Herren opretter med eder på alle disse ord.
9 Så steg Moses og Aron, Nadab og Abihu og sytti av Israels eldste op.
10 Og de så Israels Gud; under hans føtter var det likesom et gulv av gjennemsiktig safirsten og som himmelen selv i klarhet.
11 Og han løftet ikke sin hånd mot de ypperste av Israels barn, men de skuet Gud og åt og drakk.
12 Og Herren sa til Moses: Stig op til mig på fjellet og bli der! Så vil jeg gi dig stentavler og loven og budet, som jeg har skrevet op for å veilede dem.
13 Da gikk Moses avsted med sin tjener Josva; og Moses gikk op på Guds berg.
14 Og han sa til de eldste: Bli her til vi kommer tilbake til eder; Aron og Hur er jo hos eder; den som har en rettssak, kan gå til dem!
15 Så steg Moses op på fjellet, og skyen skjulte fjellet.
16 Og Herrens herlighet hvilte på Sinai berg, og skyen skjulte det i seks dager; den syvende dag kalte han på Moses midt ut av skyen.
17 Og Herrens herlighet var å se til for Israels barns øine som en fortærende ild på fjellets topp.
18 Og Moses gikk midt inn skyen og steg op på fjellet; og Moses var på fjellet i firti dager og firti netter.
