^2 (A)You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; ^(B)nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.

²³ But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men ^[a]and of the chief priests prevailed. ²⁴ So ^(A)Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a ^[a]tumult was rising, he ^(A)took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this ^[b]just Person. You see to it.”

²⁵ And all the people answered and said, ^(B)“His blood be on us and on our children.”

²⁶ Then he released Barabbas to them; and when ^(C)he had ^[c]scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

^6 (A)“You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his dispute. ^7 (B)Keep yourself far from a false matter; ^(C)do not kill the innocent and righteous. For ^(D)I will not justify the wicked.

¹⁵ And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, ^(A)choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether ^(B)the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of ^[a]the River, or ^(C)the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. ^(D)But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

^17 (A)You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid in any man’s presence, for ^(B)the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, ^(C)bring to me, and I will hear it.’
