Exodus 22
King James Version
22 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
3 If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
4 If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.
5 If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.
6 If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
7 If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.
8 If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.
9 For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
10 If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:
11 Then shall an oath of the Lord be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
12 And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.
13 If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.
14 And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.
15 But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
19 Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
22 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;
24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
25 If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
26 If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:
27 For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
28 Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.
29 Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.
30 Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.
31 And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.

22 “어떤 사람이 소나 양을 도둑질하여 그것을 잡거나 팔았으면 그는 소 한 마리에는 소 다섯 마리로 양 한 마리에는 양 네 마리로 갚아야 한다.
2 도둑이 밤에 남의 집을 몰래 뚫고 들어오다가 잡혀서 매를 맞아 죽으면 죽인 사람에게 살인죄가 없다. 3 그러나 해가 뜬 다음에 그런 일이 일어나면 죽인 사람에게 살인죄가 있다.
남의 것을 도둑질한 사람은 반드시 훔친 것을 물어내야 한다. 그러나 그에게 아무것도 없으면 자기 몸을 종으로 팔아서라도 훔친 것을 물어내야 한다. 4 그러나 그가 도둑질한 짐승이 소든지 나귀든지 양이든지 아직 산 채로 그에게 있으면 그는 그것을 두 배로 갚아주어야 한다.
5 어떤 사람의 집짐승이 제 집 밭이나 포도원에서 풀을 뜯다가 남의 밭에 들어가 농작물을 모두 뜯어먹는 수가 있다. 그러면 그 짐승의 임자는 그것을 물어주어야 한다. 자기 밭이나 포도원에서 나는 가장 좋은 것으로 물어주어야 한다.
6 불이 나서 그것이 가시덤불로 옮겨 붙어서 이웃 밭으로 번지는 수가 있을 것이다. 그 불이 이웃 밭에 쌓아 놓은 곡식 단이나 아직도 자라고 있는 곡식을 태우면 불을 낸 사람이 타버린 것을 다 물어주어야 한다.
7 어떤 사람이 자기 돈이나 물건을 이웃 사람에게 맡겨 놓았는데 그 집에서 그것을 도둑맞는 수가 있을 것이다. 다행히 도둑을 잡으면 도둑이 훔친 것의 두 배를 물어주어야 한다. 8 그러나 도둑이 잡히지 않으면 그 집 주인은 하나님[a] 앞에 나와서 그가 이웃의 물건에 손을 대었는지 대지 않았는지 판결을 받아야 한다.
9 소나 나귀나 양이나 옷이나 그 밖의 모든 잃어버린 물건을 두고 두 사람이 서로 ‘이것은 내 것이다.’라고 우기면 두 사람 다 하나님 앞에 나와야 한다. 하나님이 유죄라고 선언하는 사람이 다른 사람에게 두 배로 갚아 주어야 한다.
10 어떤 사람이 이웃에게 자기의 나귀나 소나 양이나 다른 어떤 짐승을 돌봐 달라고 맡겼다고 하자. 그런데 그 짐승이 죽거나 다치거나 아무도 보지 않는 사이에 없어졌을 수가 있다. 11 그런 경우에 짐승을 맡았던 이웃 사람은 자기가 상대방의 재산을 훔치지 않았다고 주 앞에서 맹세하고 짐승을 맡겼던 사람은 그 맹세를 사실로 받아들여야 한다. 그리고 짐승을 맡았던 이웃 사람은 아무것도 물어주지 않아도 된다. 12 그러나 이웃 사람이 그 짐승을 훔쳤을 경우에는 그가 주인에게 물어주어야 한다. 13 만일 그 짐승이 들짐승에게 찢겨 죽었을 경우에는 짐승을 맡았던 사람이 그 증거물을 가지고 와서 주인에게 보여야 한다. 그러면 그는 찢겨 죽은 짐승을 물어주지 않아도 된다.
14 어떤 사람이 자기 이웃 사람에게서 짐승을 빌려 왔는데 짐승의 임자가 없는 사이에 그 짐승이 다치거나 죽으면 빌린 사람이 물어내야 한다. 15 그러나 짐승의 임자가 짐승과 같이 있었으면 빌린 사람이 물어내지 않아도 된다. 만일 그 짐승이 세를 내고 빌린 것이면 따로 보상하지 않아도 된다. 세로 낸 돈에는 그런 손실에 대비한 금액이 들어있기 때문이다.
16 남자가 약혼[b]도 하지 않은 처녀를 유혹하여 그 여자와 잠자리를 같이하였으면, 그는 반드시 신부의 몸값을 내고 그 여자를 아내로 맞아들여야 한다. 17 만약 그 여자의 아버지가 결코 자기 딸을 그에게 줄 수 없다고 하면, 그는 처녀를 신부로 맞을 때 내는 값에 해당하는 돈을 치러야 한다.
18 마술을 부리는 여자를 살려 두어서는 안 된다.
19 짐승과 성관계를 가지는 사람은 누구라도 사형에 처해야 한다.
20 주 밖의 다른 신들에게 제물을 바치는 사람은 반드시 없애 버려야 한다.
21 너에게 몸 붙여 사는 외국인을 학대하거나 억눌러서는 안 된다. 너희도 예전에 이집트 땅에서 몸 붙여 살던 외국인이었다.
22 너는 홀어미나 고아를 괴롭히지 말아라. 23 네가 그들을 괴롭혀서 그들이 내게 울부짖으면, 내가 그들의 울부짖는 소리를 틀림없이 들을 것이다. 24 그러면 내가 화를 내어 너희를 칼로 쳐서 죽일 것이다. 그렇게 되면 너희 아내들은 홀어미가 되고 너희 아이들은 고아가 될 것이다.
25 네가 내 백성 가운데 가난한 사람에게 돈을 꾸어 주었으면 너는 그에게 빚쟁이처럼 굴지 말아라. 그리고 그에게 이자도 물리지 말아라. 26 네가 이웃의 겉옷을 빚 대신 담보로 잡았으면 해 지기 전에 그것을 돌려주어라. 27 그의 몸을 가릴 것이라고는 그것밖에 없으니 그가 무엇을 덮고 자겠느냐? 그가 내게 부르짖으면 나는 자비로우니 들어주지 않을 수 없다.
28 너는 하나님을 모욕하거나 백성의 지도자를 저주하여서는 안 된다.
29 너는 타작한 첫 곡식과 술틀에서 나온 포도즙은 미루지 말고 바쳐야 한다.
너는 네 아들들 가운데 맏아들을 내게 바쳐야 한다. 30 처음 난 소와 양도 내게 바쳐야 한다. 처음 난 새끼는 이레 동안 어미와 함께 두었다가 여드렛날에 내게 바쳐라.
31 너희는 내게 있어 거룩한 백성이어야 한다. 그러므로 너희는 들짐승에게 찢겨 죽은 짐승의 고기를 먹어서는 안 된다. 그런 고기는 개들에게 던져 주어라.
