Exodus 22:9-11
New King James Version
9 “For any kind of trespass, whether it concerns an ox, a donkey, a sheep, or clothing, or for any kind of lost thing which another claims to be his, the (A)cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whomever the judges condemn shall pay double to his neighbor. 10 If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies, is hurt, or driven away, no one seeing it, 11 then an (B)oath of the Lord shall be between them both, that he has not put his hand into his neighbor’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept that, and he shall not make it good.

9 Trong trường hợp có người giữ một con bò, lừa, cừu, quần áo hay bất cứ vật gì đã mất cắp và có người nói rằng: ‘Cái này là của tôi’ thì cả hai bên phải đem trình vụ việc. Người bị thẩm phán kết tội phải bồi thường gấp đôi cho láng giềng mình.
10 Nếu một người gửi lừa, bò, cừu hay con vật nào khác cho láng giềng giữ hộ, nhưng con vật bị chết, bị thương hay bị lạc mất khi không có ai chứng kiến, 11 sự tranh chấp giữa hai bên sẽ được giải quyết bằng lời thề trước mặt CHÚA rằng người láng giềng không nhúng tay vào tài sản của người chủ, người này phải chấp nhận lời thề và không được đòi bồi thường.
