^17 (A)“Whoever curses^[a] his father or his mother shall be put to death.

¹⁰ For Moses said, ^(A)‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ^(B)‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ ¹¹ But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”’ (that is, given to God)^[a]—

³ He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? ⁴ For God commanded, ^(A)‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ^(B)‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ ⁵ But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,”^{[a] 6} he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have ^(C)made void the word^[b] of God.

^16 (A)“‘Cursed be anyone who dishonors his father or his mother.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

⁹ For ^(A)anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother; ^(B)his blood is upon him.

Punishments for Sexual Immorality

¹⁰ “If a ^(C)man commits adultery with the wife of^[a] his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
