^21 (A)“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ^(B)‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable ^(C)to judgment.’ ²² But I say to you that ^(D)everyone who is angry with his brother^[a] will be liable ^(E)to judgment; whoever insults^[b] his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to ^(F)the hell^[c] of fire.

¹⁴ We know that ^(A)we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. ^15 (B)Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that ^(C)no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

^45 (A)The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces ^(B)evil, ^(C)for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
