¹⁴ Then he said, ^(A)“Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?”

So Moses ^(B)feared and said, “Surely this thing is known!” ¹⁵ When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But ^(C)Moses fled from ^[a]the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of ^(D)Midian; and he sat down by ^(E)a well.

^16 (F)Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. ^(G)And they came and drew water, and they filled the ^(H)troughs to water their father’s flock. ¹⁷ Then the ^(I)shepherds came and ^(J)drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and ^(K)watered their flock.

3 Now Moses was tending the flock of ^(B)Jethro his father-in-law, ^(C)the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to ^(D)Horeb, ^(E)the mountain of God.

Jethro’s Advice^(A)

18 And ^(B)Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses’ father-in-law, heard of all that ^(C)God had done for Moses and for Israel His people—that the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt.
