²⁰And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

²¹Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

²²And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.

²⁰You should also teach them the laws and the teachings, and show them how to live their lives and what work they should do. ²¹But you should choose from among all the people competent men who are God-fearing, honest and incorruptible to be their leaders, in charge of thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. ²²Normally, they will settle the people’s disputes. They should bring you the difficult cases; but ordinary matters they should decide themselves. In this way, they will make it easier for you and share the load with you.

²⁰Teach them his decrees and instructions,^(A) and show them the way they are to live^(B) and how they are to behave.^(C) ²¹But select capable men^(D) from all the people—men who fear^(E) God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain^(F)—and appoint them as officials^(G) over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. ²²Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case^(H) to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share^(I) it with you.
