14 Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, (A)that they turn and camp before (B)Pi Hahiroth, between (C)Migdol and the sea, opposite Baal Zephon; you shall camp before it by the sea. 3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, (D)‘They are bewildered by the land; the wilderness has closed them in.’ 4 Then (E)I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that he will pursue them; and I (F)will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, (G)that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
5 Now it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled, and (H)the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the people; and they said, “Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” 6 So he [a]made ready his chariot and took his people with him. 7 Also, he took (I)six hundred choice chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt with captains over every one of them. 8 And the Lord (J)hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; and (K)the children of Israel went out with boldness. 9 So the (L)Egyptians pursued them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his army, and overtook them camping by the sea beside Pi Hahiroth, before Baal Zephon.
10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel (M)cried out to the Lord. 11 (N)Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? 12 (O)Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.”
13 And Moses said to the people, (P)“Do not be afraid. (Q)Stand still, and see the (R)salvation[b] of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall (S)see again no more forever. 14 (T)The Lord will fight for you, and you shall (U)hold[c] your peace.”
15 And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. 16 But (V)lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. 17 And I indeed will (W)harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them. So I will (X)gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen. 18 Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gained honor for Myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”
19 And the Angel of God, (Y)who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. 20 So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night.
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and (Z)made the sea into dry land, and the waters were (AA)divided. 22 So (AB)the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were (AC)a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 23 And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 Now it came to pass, in the morning (AD)watch, that (AE)the Lord looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He [d]troubled the army of the Egyptians. 25 And He [e]took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord (AF)fights for them against the Egyptians.”
26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.” 27 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea (AG)returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the Lord (AH)overthrew[f] the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 Then (AI)the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained. 29 But (AJ)the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
30 So the Lord (AK)saved[g] Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel (AL)saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 Thus Israel saw the great [h]work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and (AM)believed the Lord and His servant Moses.

Los israelitas cruzan el mar Rojo
14 El Señor dijo a Moisés:
2 — Di a los israelitas que cambien de dirección y acampen en Pi Ajirot, entre Migdol y el mar, frente a Baal Sefón. Que instalen las tiendas mirando al mar. 3 El faraón pensará que los israelitas no saben salir de Egipto y que el desierto les cierra el paso. 4 Y yo haré que el faraón no se dé por vencido y os persiga; y de nuevo mostraré mi gloria a costa de él y de todos sus ejércitos. Así los egipcios tendrán que reconocer que yo soy el Señor.
Los israelitas cumplieron esta orden. 5 Cuando comunicaron al rey de Egipto que el pueblo había huido, el faraón y sus cortesanos cambiaron de parecer con respecto a los israelitas, y se dijeron: “¿Qué es lo que hemos hecho? Hemos dejado marchar a los israelitas, quedándonos sin mano de obra”. 6 Entonces el faraón mandó preparar inmediatamente su carro y reunió a su ejército: 7 los seiscientos carros mejor equipados y el resto de los carros de Egipto, con sus correspondientes capitanes.
8 Y el Señor hizo que el faraón, el rey de Egipto, se obstinase en perseguir a los israelitas que habían partido en plan de vencedores.
9 Los egipcios con todo su ejército, con carros y caballería, salieron a perseguir a los israelitas y les dieron alcance en el lugar donde estaban acampados, a orillas del mar, junto a Pi Ajirot, frente a Baal Sefón. 10 En cuanto los israelitas se percataron de que el faraón y su ejército iban hacia ellos, muertos de miedo clamaron al Señor, 11 y dijeron a Moisés:
— ¿Es que no había sepulcros en Egipto, para que nos hicieses venir a morir al desierto? ¿Para esto nos has sacado de Egipto? 12 ¿No te decíamos allí que nos dejaras en paz sirviendo a los egipcios, pues más nos valía ser esclavos suyos que morir en el desierto?
13 Y Moisés respondió al pueblo:
— No tengáis miedo; manteneos firmes y veréis la victoria que el Señor os va a conceder hoy; a esos egipcios que ahora veis, os aseguro que no los veréis nunca más. 14 El Señor luchará por vosotros que sólo debéis esperar en silencio.
15 Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés:
— ¿A qué vienen esos gritos? Ordena a los israelitas que reanuden la marcha. 16 Y tú levanta tu vara y extiende la mano sobre el mar que se abrirá en dos para que los israelitas lo atraviesen pisando en seco. 17 Yo haré que los egipcios se empeñen en alcanzaros y se metan en el mar detrás de vosotros. Entonces manifestaré mi poder sobre el faraón y todo su ejército, sobre sus carros y su caballería. 18 Y cuando me haya cubierto de gloria a costa del faraón, de sus carros y de su caballería, los egipcios tendrán que reconocer que yo soy el Señor.
19 El ángel de Dios, que iba delante del campamento de Israel, se situó en la retaguardia; y también la columna de nube que marchaba delante de ellos 20 se interpuso entre el ejército egipcio y los israelitas. La nube se oscureció dejando la noche lóbrega, de modo que no pudieron acercarse los unos a los otros.
21 Entonces Moisés extendió su mano sobre el mar, y el Señor hizo que el mar se retirase valiéndose de un viento huracanado del este que sopló durante toda la noche y que dividió las aguas en dos, dejando seco el mar.
22 Los israelitas entraron en medio del mar, pisando en seco, mientras las aguas formaban una especie de muralla a ambos lados.
23 Los egipcios, persiguiéndolos, entraron en medio del mar con los caballos del faraón, sus carros y su caballería. 24 Poco antes de despuntar el alba, el Señor miró al ejército egipcio desde la columna de fuego y nube y lo desbarató. 25 Atascó las ruedas de los carros que a duras penas podían avanzar. Entonces los egipcios se dijeron:
— Huyamos de los israelitas, porque el Señor lucha a su favor contra nosotros.
26 Pero el Señor dijo a Moisés:
— Extiende tu mano sobre el mar para que las aguas se precipiten sobre los egipcios, sus carros y su caballería.
27 Moisés extendió su mano sobre el mar y, al despuntar el día, el mar volvió a su estado normal. Los egipcios trataron de huir, pero se encontraron con las aguas, y el Señor hizo que los egipcios muriesen anegados por el mar. 28 Las aguas, al juntarse, engulleron carros y caballería, y a todo el ejército del faraón que había entrado en el mar en persecución de los israelitas. No se salvó ni uno.
29 Los israelitas, en cambio, cruzaron el mar por tierra seca, mientras las aguas formaban para ellos una muralla a derecha e izquierda.
30 Aquel día el Señor salvó a Israel del poder de los egipcios. Los israelitas pudieron ver los cadáveres de los egipcios a la orilla del mar, 31 reconociendo el gran poder desplegado por el Señor contra los egipcios. El pueblo veneró al Señor y depositó su confianza en él y en Moisés, su siervo.
