Pharaoh in Pursuit
14 Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Tell the sons of Israel to turn back and camp in front of (A)Pi-hahiroth, between (B)Migdol and the sea; you shall camp in front of Baal-zephon, opposite it, by the sea. 3 For Pharaoh will say of the sons of Israel, ‘They are wandering aimlessly in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’ 4 And (C)I will [a]harden Pharaoh’s heart, and (D)he will chase after them; and I will be honored through Pharaoh and all his army, and (E)the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
5 When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, [b]Pharaoh and his servants had a change of heart toward the people, and they said, “What is this that we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” 6 So he had horses harnessed to his chariot and took his people with him; 7 and he took six hundred select chariots, and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them. 8 So (F)the Lord [c]hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he chased after the sons of Israel as the sons of Israel were going out [d](G)boldly. 9 Then (H)the Egyptians chased after them with all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his army, and they overtook them camping by the sea, (I)beside Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.
10 As Pharaoh approached, the sons of Israel [e]looked, and behold, the Egyptians were coming after them, and they became very frightened; (J)so the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord. 11 Then (K)they said to Moses, “Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us in this way, [f]bringing us out of Egypt? 12 (L)Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘[g]Leave us alone so that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness!”
The Sea Is Divided
13 But Moses said to the people, “(M)Do not fear! [h]Stand by and see (N)the salvation of the Lord, which He will perform for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again, ever. 14 (O)The Lord will fight for you, while (P)you keep silent.”
15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward. 16 As for you, lift up (Q)your staff and reach out with your hand over the sea and divide it, and the sons of Israel shall [i]go through the midst of the sea on dry land. 17 And as for Me, behold, (R)I will [j]harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them; and I will be honored through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. 18 (S)Then the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord, when I am honored through Pharaoh, through his chariots, and through his horsemen.”
19 Then (T)the angel of God, who had been going before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them. 20 So it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud [k]along with the darkness, yet it gave light at night. Therefore the one did not approach the other all night.
21 (U)Then Moses reached out with his hand over the sea; and the Lord [l]swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night, and turned the sea into (V)dry land, and (W)the waters were divided. 22 So (X)the sons of Israel [m]went through the midst of the sea on the dry land, and (Y)the waters were like a wall to them on their right and on their left. 23 Then (Z)the Egyptians took up the pursuit, and all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen went in after them into the midst of the sea. 24 But at the morning watch, (AA)the Lord looked down on the [n]army of the Egyptians [o]through the pillar of fire and cloud, and brought the [p]army of the Egyptians into confusion. 25 He [q]caused their chariot wheels to swerve, and He made them drive with difficulty; so the Egyptians each said, “Let me flee from Israel, (AB)for the Lord is fighting for them against the Egyptians.”
26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “(AC)Reach out with your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back over the Egyptians, over their chariots and their horsemen.” 27 So Moses reached out with his hand over the sea, and (AD)the sea returned to its normal state at daybreak, while the Egyptians were fleeing [r]right into it; then the Lord [s](AE)overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, Pharaoh’s entire army that had gone into the sea after them; (AF)not even one of them remained. 29 But the sons of Israel walked on (AG)dry land through the midst of the sea, and the waters were like a wall to them on their right and on their left.
30 (AH)So the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel (AI)saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 When Israel saw the great [t]power which the Lord had [u]used against the Egyptians, the people [v]feared the Lord, and (AJ)they believed in the Lord and in His servant Moses.

14 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2 “Speak to the children of Israel, so that they return and camp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, and before Baal Zephon. You shall camp in front of it, by the sea.
3 “For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, ‘They are aimless in the land. The wilderness has shut them in.’
4 “And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that he shall follow after you. So, I will gain honor over Pharaoh, and upon all his army. Also, the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD.” And they did so.
5 Then, the king of Egypt was told that the people fled. And the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people. And they said, “Why have we done this, and have let Israel go out of our service?”
6 And he prepared his chariots and took his people with him,
7 and took six hundred chosen chariots and all the chariots of Egypt and captains over every one of them.
8 (For the LORD had hardened the heart of Pharaoh, King of Egypt, and he followed after the children of Israel. But the children of Israel went out with boldness).
9 And the Egyptians and all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh pursued after them. And his horsemen and his army overtook them camping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon.
10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes. And behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were very afraid. Therefore, the children of Israel cried to the LORD.
11 And they said to Moses, “Have you brought us to die in the wilderness, because there were no graves in Egypt? Why have you served us like this, to carry us out of Egypt?
12 “Did we not tell you this thing in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone, so that we may serve the Egyptians?’ For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”
13 Then Moses said to the people, “Do not fear. Stand still, and behold the salvation of the LORD, which He will show to you this day. For the Egyptians, whom you have seen this day, you shall never see again.
14 “The LORD shall fight for you. Therefore, hold your peace.”
15 And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Speak to the children of Israel, so that they go forward.
16 “And lift up your rod and stretch out your hand upon the sea and divide it; and let the children of Israel go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17 “And I, behold, I will harden the heart of the Egyptians, so that they may follow them. And I will gain honor from Pharaoh, and from all his army, from his chariots, and from his horsemen.
18 “Then, the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gained honor from Pharaoh, from his chariots, and from his horsemen.”
19 And the Angel of God, who went before the host of Israel, moved and went behind them. Also, the pillar of the cloud went from preceding them to standing behind them,
20 and came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. It was both a cloud and darkness, yet it gave light by night, so that one did not come near the other, all night long.
21 And Moses stretched forth his hand upon the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to recede by a strong east wind, all that night, and made the sea dry. For the waters were divided.
22 Then, the children of Israel went through the midst of the sea, upon the dry ground; and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left hand.
23 And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 Now, in the morning watch, the LORD looked upon the army of the Egyptians, and out of the fiery and cloudy pillar, He struck the army of the Egyptians with fear.
25 For he turned aside their chariot wheels and they drove them with great difficulty, so that all the Egyptians said, “I will flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians.”
26 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch your hand upon the sea, so that the waters may return upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots and upon their horsemen.”
27 Then Moses stretched forth his hand upon the sea, and the sea returned to full force early in the morning; and the Egyptians fled against it. But the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 So, the water returned and covered the chariots. And of the horsemen, and of all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them, there remained not one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land through the midst of the sea. And the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
30 Thus, the LORD saved Israel from the hand of the Egyptians that day. And Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the seashore.
31 And Israel saw the mighty power which the LORD showed upon the Egyptians. So, the people feared the LORD and believed the LORD and his servant Moses.

14 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.
3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.
4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord. And they did so.
5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:
7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.
8 And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.

13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

15 And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

26 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord, and his servant Moses.
