⁴ I will harden Pharaoh’s heart so that he will pursue them. Then I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh.” So the Israelites did this.^(A)

¹⁷ I am going to harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them, and I will receive glory by means of Pharaoh, all his army, and his chariots and horsemen. ¹⁸ The Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh when I receive glory through Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”

⁹ and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land^(A) and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and everyone who lives in the land is panicking because of you.^{[a] 10} For we have heard how the Lord dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt,^(B) and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings you completely destroyed^(C) across the Jordan.
