²⁸ Then the children of Israel went away and ^(A)did so; just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.

The Tenth Plague: Death of the Firstborn^(B)

^29 (C)And it came to pass at midnight that ^(D)the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was ^[a]in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of ^(E)livestock. ³⁰ So Pharaoh rose in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

The Exodus

³¹ Then he ^(F)called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, “Rise, go out from among my people, ^(G)both you and the children of Israel. And go, serve the Lord as you have ^(H)said. ^32 (I)Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also.”

^33 (J)And the Egyptians ^(K)urged the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead.” ³⁴ So the people took their dough before it was leavened, having their kneading bowls bound up in their clothes on their shoulders. ³⁵ Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked from the Egyptians ^(L)articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing. ^36 (M)And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus ^(N)they plundered the Egyptians.

¹⁴ Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and ^(A)taught. ^15 (B)And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”

^16 [a]Jesus answered them and said, ^(C)“My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. ^17 (D)If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. ^18 (E)He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who ^(F)seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and ^(G)no unrighteousness is in Him. ^19 (H)Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law? ^(I)Why do you seek to kill Me?”

²⁰ The people answered and said, ^(J)“You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?”

²¹ Jesus answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you all marvel. ^22 (K)Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, ^(L)but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. ²³ If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because ^(M)I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? ^24 (N)Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

^14 (A)The second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.

Seventh Trumpet: The Kingdom Proclaimed

¹⁵ Then ^(B)the seventh angel sounded: ^(C)And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ^(D)“The ^[a]kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, ^(E)and He shall reign forever and ever!” ¹⁶ And ^(F)the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and ^(G)worshiped God, ¹⁷ saying:

¹⁹ Then ^(L)the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of ^[d]His covenant was seen in His temple. And ^(M)there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, ^(N)and great hail.
