Exodus 12:27-29

American Standard Version

²⁷that ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of Jehovah’s passover, ^[a]who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped. ²⁸And the children of Israel went and did so; as Jehovah had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

²⁹And it came to pass at midnight, that Jehovah smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the first-born of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the first-born of cattle.

²⁷then tell them, ‘It is the Passover^(A) sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’”^(B) Then the people bowed down and worshiped.^(C) ²⁸The Israelites did just what the Lord commanded^(D) Moses and Aaron.

²⁹At midnight^(E) the Lord^(F) struck down all the firstborn^(G) in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock^(H) as well.
