10 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

11 “Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.”

12 And Moses spoke before the Lord, saying, “Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me. How then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?”

13 And the Lord spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

14 These are the heads of their fathers’ houses. The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi; these are the families of Reuben.

15 And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel and Jamin, and Ohad and Jachin and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman; these are the families of Simeon.

16 And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon and Kohath and Merari; and the years of the life of Levi were a hundred thirty and seven years.

17 The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimi, according to their families.

18 And the sons of Kohath: Amram and Izhar, and Hebron and Uzziel; and the years of the life of Kohath were a hundred thirty and three years.

19 And the sons of Merari: Mahali and Mushi; these are the families of Levi according to their generations.

20 And Amram took Jochebed, his father’s sister, for a wife; and she bore him Aaron and Moses; and the years of the life of Amram were a hundred and thirty and seven years.

21 And the sons of Izhar: Korah and Nepheg and Zichri.

22 And the sons of Uzziel: Mishael and Elzaphan and Zithri.

23 And Aaron took Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Nahshon, for a wife; and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

24 And the sons of Korah: Assir and Elkanah and Abiasaph; these are the families of the Korahites.

26 These are that Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said, “Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.”

27 These are they who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt. These are that Moses and Aaron.

28 And it came to pass on the day when the Lord spoke unto Moses in the land of Egypt,

29 that the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, “I am the Lord. Speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto thee.”

30 And Moses said before the Lord, “Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me?”

And the Lord said unto Moses, “See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh, and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

Thou shalt speak all that I command thee; and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.

But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay My hand upon Egypt and bring forth Mine armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth Mine hand upon Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”

And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them; so did they.

And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old when they spoke unto Pharaoh.

And the Lord spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

“When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then thou shalt say unto Aaron, ‘Take thy rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.’”

10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the Lord had commanded; and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers. Now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents; but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

13 And He hardened Pharaoh’s heart, that he hearkened not unto them, as the Lord had said.

10 Then the Lord said to Moses, 11 “Go, tell(A) Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.”(B)

12 But Moses said to the Lord, “If the Israelites will not listen(C) to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips[a]?”(D)

Aaron to Speak for Moses

28 Now when the Lord spoke to Moses in Egypt, 29 he said to him, “I am the Lord.(AE) Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you.”

30 But Moses said to the Lord, “Since I speak with faltering lips,(AF) why would Pharaoh listen to me?”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God(AG) to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.(AH) You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country. But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart,(AI) and though I multiply my signs and wonders(AJ) in Egypt, he will not listen(AK) to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment(AL) I will bring out my divisions,(AM) my people the Israelites. And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord(AN) when I stretch out my hand(AO) against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord commanded(AP) them. Moses was eighty years old(AQ) and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.

Aaron’s Staff Becomes a Snake

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,(AR)’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.”(AS)

10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers,(AT) and the Egyptian magicians(AU) also did the same things by their secret arts:(AV) 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. 13 Yet Pharaoh’s heart(AW) became hard and he would not listen(AX) to them, just as the Lord had said.
