¹⁷ And you shall take in your hand ^(A)this staff, ^(B)with which you shall do the signs.”

²⁰ So Moses took his wife and his ^(A)sons and mounted them on a donkey and returned to the land of Egypt. Moses also took the ^(B)staff of God in his hand.

¹⁹ Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and ^(A)stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their ^[a]streams, and over their pools and over all their reservoirs of water, that they may become blood; and there will be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’”

^21 (A)Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and Yahweh ^[a]swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea into ^(B)dry ground, so ^(C)the waters were split.

²⁶ Then Yahweh said to Moses, “^(A)Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back over the Egyptians, over their chariots and their horsemen.”

⁵ Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Pass before the people and take with you some of ^(A)the elders of Israel; and take in your hand your staff with which ^(B)you struck the Nile, and go. ⁶ Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock at ^(C)Horeb; and ^(D)you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

⁹ So Moses said to ^(A)Joshua, “Choose men for us and go out, fight against Amalek. Tomorrow I will take my stand on the top of the hill with ^(B)the staff of God in my hand.”

⁸ “Take ^(A)the rod; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it may yield its water. You shall thus bring forth water for them out of the rock and let the congregation and their beasts drink.”

Moses Strikes the Rock

⁹ So Moses took the rod ^(B)from before Yahweh, just as He had commanded him;

¹¹ Then Moses raised high his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and ^(A)water came forth abundantly, and the congregation and their beasts drank.

²⁶ And Yahweh of hosts will ^(A)waken a scourge against him like the slaughter of ^(B)Midian at the rock of Oreb; and His ^(C)staff will be over the sea and He will lift it up ^(D)the way He did in Egypt.
