13 But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”(A)

14 Then the Lord’s anger burned(B) against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet(C) you, and he will be glad to see you. 15 You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth;(D) I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. 16 He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth(E) and as if you were God to him.(F) 17 But take this staff(G) in your hand(H) so you can perform the signs(I) with it.”

10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur(A) went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning,(B) but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.(C) 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite(D) army with the sword.

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write(E) this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out(F) the name of Amalek(G) from under heaven.”

15 Moses built an altar(H) and called(I) it The Lord is my Banner. 16 He said, “Because hands were lifted up against[a] the throne of the Lord,[b] the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites(J) from generation to generation.”(K)
